Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 4.9.13

“There was a rich man who would dress in purple and fine linen, feasting lavishly every day. But a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, was left at his gate. He longed to be filled with what fell from the rich man’s table, but instead the dogs would come and lick his sores. One day the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.

And being in torment in Hades, he looked up and saw Abraham a long way off, with Lazarus at his side. ‘Father Abraham! ’ he called out, ‘Have mercy on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this flame! ’

“ ‘Son,’ Abraham said, ‘remember that during your life you received your good things, just as Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here, while you are in agony.

Pray
May I always be a humble, honorable, giving, patient, caring, and considerate servant. May I never see myself above others, entitled, or too special to know and serve the least of Your children—and not just through charity but in fellowship. Mold out of me anything that displeases You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Reflection
You can be blessed abundantly but it is what you do with those blessings that count. If you aren’t sharing with others, and beyond your birth family, then you are still selfish and clueless.

What are you personally doing to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, soothe those in pain, and uplift the hopeless?

A check is great, your time is better. What you do for your job is what you have to do. I want to know what you do personally, after work, in your spare time. What do you to spontaneously? Those are the moments when you are really being tested.

Buy an extra meal this week and give it to a person living on the streets. Those t-shirts, socks, shoes, and pants that you don’t wear or need—separate them in bags and hand them to someone in need this week. Know of a center or organization that can be of service to someone? Give them the information.

Be of service each day spreading God’s love, sharing hope, helping to restore order, helping to reignite the Kingdom within those who are lost—and planting the seed for those who are unaware. Serve without reservation, hesitation, or expectation.

Clothed WITH Love,

Natasha
