These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 HCSB
Father let Your words and commands keep playing in my mind repeatedly, embedding deep inside how I am to live each day, so that I positively act upon those thoughts. Sharpen my mind to push out potential distractions, and let me focus clearly on what will bring You joy. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Through repetition we learn, embrace, and ‘master’ things. Reading, writing, drawing, spelling, mathematics, dancing, singing, and playing musical instruments. The more we see, hear, and practice, the more it becomes habit and the better we do.
The same is true with sin. The more we indulge in sinful acts, the more we practice sinful ways, the deeper down the pit we go, and the harder it is for us to surface to the top and free ourselves.
Whatever you take in, practice, and allow to become your way of life, is the thing you master– and it is the thing that represents you to the world, and expresses to God what you value.

1. What things are you good at (i.e. hobbies, sports, subject matter, skills)?
2. How long, on average, did it take for you to become highly skilled on these areas?
3. What habits did you have to develop in order to ‘master’ these things?
3. What bad habits do you struggle with in your daily life? What is your perceived struggle?
4. Considering your answers in questions 2 and 3, what would be your best approach for breaking your bad habits?
