Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 4.30.15

Scripture

Pray
Father-Mother God, I know that You are always here, always working, always molding, and always guiding. Even when I feel alone, I know that you are here.
Today I simply pray for righting of wrongs. I pray that You help us to make right the grievances that we have created against each other, and especially against those who don’t have the finances that provide greater options. I’m not asking You to correct the wrongs. I’m asking You to align us to correct our wrongs. Let us see and feel the error of our ways, and then see and take up the tools to fix these errors.
I humbly pray to You today as your loving servant, flawed except in Your eyes. Amen.
Reflection
Some people negatively fixate on the super wealthy as the creators of our worldly pains and issues. But the “crabs in a barrel” and the “move out of the hood” mind sets have also plagued our families and communities. How are any of these groups truly different?
We would rather hold on to our full dollar when we only need 75 cents, than spare a quarter to someone who needs 50 cents.
Our self-absorption, even at the bottom of the barrel, means that we will stand on the backs and heads of others to elevate ourselves, rather than creating a human ladder or pulley system that lifts all of us out of the barrel. We’re always fearful of being left behind by the first crab who exits, and we’re terrified to be the last crab at the bottom. So we viciously attack, climb over, and do whatever it takes to get out and never look back. We end up acting like the first crab we feared.
Socioeconomic and racial tensions (primarily caused by socioeconomic conditions) are boiling as we enter the summer season. The heat clouds our thinking as we exist in what feels and looks like stagnation. We want someone to blame, so we childishly point the finger at others. We need to accept the fact, the truth, God’s Truth–that we’re all to blame for what’s happening in the world today. The only innocents are the babies and children, and those individuals born with mental challenges that restrict their active involvement in their or our destruction.
The rich person in their greediness is no more guilty than the poor person in their greediness. Neither are sharing God’s gifts. The careless spending by the wealthy is equally appalling as the careless spending by the impoverished. Both are arrogantly wasting God’s blessings.
The wealthy person passing by not willing to help the homeless person asking for food, water, or shelter, is equally at fault with the poor person who doesn’t tell (or take) the homeless person to a source (that they have also used or heard of) that provides food, water, or shelter—or worse, they don’t stop to share a portion of their own.
The poor person blames the wealthy person for being far-removed, yet the poor person ignorantly feels content in not opening up and giving what God touches their heart to give–because the poor person hasn’t yet learned how to properly sow. Our unwillingness to give freely is equally sinful, no matter what your financial status declares.
Why complain that all you have is bread and water, but then choose to watch your bread go stale rather than sharing some of it with someone else in your same situation or worse off than you?

Why complain about one source of violence in your community, but not stand outraged by all types of violence in your community? If your neighbor is murdered by another neighbor, your outrage should be heard as much or even louder than your screams over the murder of a neighbor by an outsider (or the murder of and by outsiders).

Is the raping, beating, and theft of your neighbors not reason to stand for justice? Are people who look just like each other, hurting and killing each other, not a reason to stand up and say, “no more” and mean it? Why are we only outraged when the perpetrator doesn’t look like their victim?

We are all God’s children and we waste more of our precious time finding ways to remain divided (and creating a broader space), than we embrace ways to come together to reflect His Truth. When will we stop frolicking in wickedness and instead turn to the Light?

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 4.29.15

Scripture

Pray
Father today I’m not praying for myself specifically, but rather for my brothers and sisters in my country, and around the world, who are suffering at the hands of other men and women who use their limited human power as a force of entrapment, enslavement, coercion, and disenfranchisement.
My prayer for myself is that I’m never disillusioned by what I see and hear in the world, because I know that the images and instances are of darkness and not Your Light. I know that the pain I feel keeps me connected to You, as You keep showing me ways that I can be an agent of positive change.
Father protect Your innocent, free those who are mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually in bondage. Touch the hearts of the oppressors and remind them of their limits and their potential destiny. Help them to right their wrongs.
I humbly pray to You today and every day. Amen.
Reflection
Look around you. Look in the news. Look on social media. Read the newspapers. Our world is under attack and it’s not by bug-eyed alien beings from some far away planet. We are under attack by humans. We are hurting each other, killing each other, destroying the very things we love, for something that we can never truly possess—power!
Racism, sexism, classism, and all of the other “isms” are dividing and destroying us. We have more in common than in difference. The energy that we spend trying to keep someone else “down”, enslaved, dependent, and beneath us, could be better invested in lifting people up in the Light. We benefit more when everyone is rowing the boat and contributing, not just a few. We benefit more in peace than in conflict.
Work to turn ghettoes and slums into communities.

Work to invest in communities and areas that can benefit from jobs, and where they can also become job creators.

Work to turn an outdated educational system with a heartbreaking dropout rate, into a flourishing one filled with hopeful, innovative and productive students.

Work to make primary and secondary education a right (and free) for all, not just a few.

Work to empower young girls to stop looking for “daddy” in every male that they meet, and instead stand tall as God’s rays of light.

Work to empower young boys to fully assume the responsibilities of manhood when that time comes, rather than turn into leaches on society resembling their days as breastfed babes.
We keep forgetting that these people that we vote or allow to be in power, to rule our lands and our lives, are not our God. Look closely at your scriptural textbook and see what happened to those individuals who had a god complex, and forgot that they were actually powerless.
Don’t sit back and watch the walls collapse and crumble around you. Our actions speak louder than our words. It’s what we do that God looks at, not just what we say. We’re all spiritual beings having a human experience, and we all want the same things in life: dignity, freedom, structure, shelter and resources, respect, and love.

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 4.28.15

Scripture
For the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth. The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them. He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity. His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.
Psalms‬ ‭10‬:‭3-7‬ AMP
Pray

Only through You Lord am I capable of doing and being anything. My successes are Your doing. My failures are due to my lack of obedience to You. There are no paths better, faster, safer, or more reliant than Yours. I pray to one day see myself as You see me, so that I can be more appreciative of You and all that You have done for me. Thank You for each moment that You give me in this world. I apologize when I behave of this world and not of Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Reflection

When we forget, omit, deny, or conditionally consider God’s role in our lives, as our Creator, Nurturer, Healer, Protector, Director, and Provider—we suffer the consequences of our ignorance, arrogance, self-absorption, and limited brain capacity and capability. We are our biggest enemy.

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 4.27.15

Scripture

Pray
Even when I falter, You know my heart Father. I pray for consistency in my actions. I pray for obedience, even in distraction and chaos. Father help me to follow through, to hear Your Voice above all others, and answer first to It. You have blessed me even when I didn’t think I deserved it. Thank You Father. Humbly I pray to You in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Reflection
Today’s scripture was sent to me on April 14, 2015 from Melaurie Brown, who didn’t want credit for sending it to me, but you all know that I always acknowledge the rays of light that send God’s Word and love. Thank you Melaurie!
Today’s message isn’t just for the women, but also for the men. The more obedient that we are, the more blessed we become, and the more blessings that we receive (especially the ones we weren’t sure we deserved), the more that we believe in God’s commitment and confidence in us.
Today’s message is helpful for women because the world has placed us in a box, reducing us beneath men, and taking us out of context of how God sees us. God didn’t and doesn’t just use and work through men, but women too! We fixate on the stories and parables of great men in history, but gloss over the few stories (the ones that men didn’t or should I say couldn’t omit) from the Bible as though they are less impactful.
Look closely at your scriptural textbook called the Bible. Every generation was and has come from the womb of woman, as God has always intended. If God wanted man to be the end all be all for humankind then He would have also made it possible for men to solely reproduce both male and female from their bodies. But He didn’t, and God doesn’t make mistakes.
Don’t let the world diminish who you are ladies! Believe and be blessed abundantly!
Questions of the Day

3. When you saw today’s picture, what thoughts came to your mind?

4. What message would you like to share with and about women, as it relates to today’s Breaking Bread message?

Sunday Sermon Share Day for 4.12.15

CURRENT SERIES – Destination… Forward pt. 1

Dr. Bryan E. Crute, Founder/Senior Pastor

Destiny Metropolitan Worship Church

3 introductory verses:

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

  • This is the foundation scripture for Destiny Metropolitan Worship Church, when it first started——- and continues to be.

“The Lord said to Moses, ‘Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward.’” Exodus 14:15 (ESV)

  • Moses cried out to God out of frustration because he reached his limit and didn’t know what to do next.
  • Imagine God saying to you these words.

[PAUL] “…one thing I do, forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before,I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”                        Philippians 3:13b-14 (ASV)

  • Another Biblical reference to moving forward. Another reminder to move forward.

Destiny’s vision is develop generationally-minded Christians_ who live passionately to shape the culture for God’s glory.

In moving forward, I become generationally minded as I …

  • Identify the people in my generation. (“Who?”)

The Saduccees (who don’t believe  in resurrection) posed question to Jesus to try to catch Jesus up and disprove him:

But as to the resurrection of the dead—have you never read what was said to you by God, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead but of the living! And when the throng heard it, they were astonished and filled with glad amazement at His teaching.”                            Matthew 22:31-33 (AMP)

You need to know how to see your generation. A generation in the Bible was roughly 40 years.

What does your family’s generational profile look like? Look across a 40-year span and who is the eldest and youngest in your family covering that generational profile?

Natasha’s Family Profile: 80 years old (40 years my senior, which would be my paternal grandmother) to newborn (or yet to be conceived this year–which is 40 years my junior). I of course am thinking even older than the 40 years because I have relatives older than 80, like my maternal grandmother. But this calculation puts things in perspective.

Now calculate yours.

Destiny Metropolitan turns 20 this year.

The church has members as young as 6 weeks old and as old as 80+ years.

Consider the generations around the world so far that we have tracked:

The Greatest Generation

Ages in 2015: 88-100

The Silent Generation

Ages in 2015: 70-87

Baby Boomers

Ages in 2015: 51-69

Generation X

Ages in 2015: 35-50

The group Pastor Crute wished he was a part of, but he was over by one year, which makes him a Baby Boomer.

Millennial Generation

Born 1981-1997

Ages in 2015: 18-34

  • The most researched group of all groups. Will outnumber Baby Boomers
  • Mark Zuckerberg is part of this generation

Generation Z

Born 1998-current

Ages in 2015: 17 and younger

  • Called “digital natives” because they have no idea what life was like without high tech like smart devices.
  • Multiracial children highest group in Gen Z. They celebrate diversity. They grow up with other races so they don’t see same issues as Civil Rights pioneers did and do.
  • This is a generation you can’t coddle and micromanage.
  • They do their research through social media.
  • They communicate through emojis emojis and emoticons.
  • Their friends are global so best friends may not be next door, but a plane flight away.
  • They don’t like being tracked, so turn off GPS-tracking on phone.

Forget everything you think you know about Millenials when trying to compose an analysis of Gen Z’ers

TEDTalk “What adults can learn from kids”

Futurists and social researchers are being hired by companies today to provide outlook for next 20 years to predict buying power of future consumers (Generation Z)

School system largely failing because it’s stuck in agricultural economy and teaching style that hasn’t caught up to high tech children who are bored and disconnected (who the system lackadaisically labels as special needs)

Is your perspective like Jesus?

Look at what Jesus said about children and his expectation of his disciples to allow children to come see him. Jesus knew that children are more receptive than adults. He knew that you have to reach out to the children to build the Kingdom.

If you aren’t thinking about younger generations and those yet born, then you’re not doing your job. Think of the Great Commission. Your generational focus should be 40 years ahead of you and 40 years after. Look at your age and add 40 (to capture the generations before you) and deduct 40 years from your age (to capture those younger than you) and that’s where your focus should be. Start with your own family and then branch out.

If we’re to be generationally-minded then we must first start with thinking and living like Jesus—connect beyond our thinking of it just being about “me”, and realize that is must be about “us”. If you leave out the younger generations and the older generations, then you failed.

Having Technical Difficulties

My apologies. I thought I resolved the technical issues that were preventing me from posting my blogs, but unfortunately something else is causing issues. This problem has been ongoing since last Thursday, so please be patient as I attempt to troubleshoot. I’m hoping that this message posts properly. If not, you will still be waiting around to hear from me. *Sad face *

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 4.1.15

I woke up to this message waiting for me in my phone. My friend Juanita texted to me. I opened the text and couldn’t help but to smile, as it spoke to me and my longing need for consistent peace in my life—even in the midst of storms. So I share today’s message from Joel and Victoria Osteen with you. Enjoy and live in peace! Thanks Juanita!
~Natasha

Live in Peace

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”

Romans 12:18, NIV
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Dear Lord, thank You for the gift of peace which is strength. Today, I choose to release any strife or contention in my heart. I ask You to fill me with Your peace so that I can be an instrument of peace everywhere I go in Jesus’ name. Amen.
— Joel & Victoria Osteen
TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria
There’s a tremendous strength that comes to you when you choose to live in peace. That’s why the Lord commands that we live at peace with those around us. When there is strife and contention, the enemy has an open door to move in your life. But when we are at peace with those around us, we are in a position of strength.

Being at peace with those around you doesn’t mean you have to agree with everyone all the time. It simply means you are choosing to walk in love. It means you are patient and kind, not envious or boastful. It means you are considerate and gracious even when you don’t agree. Today, choose peace, choose love, and choose to walk in the strength and blessing the Lord has commanded on your behalf!
Natasha’s Reflection

The key to keeping the enemy from destroying your plans is to focus on internal peace. It’s basically making the decision that you would rather rise above the turmoil that someone else is causing you, than to jump in and let the enemy take control. We have to decide if we’re willing to be manipulated and bullied by the enemy, or if we’re going to stare “it” down and say, “get behind me you fool, I’ve got better things to do than waste my time with you!”
You can be experiencing loss, family problems, business issues, or something personal that no one knows about—but are you willing to let the enemy get in and turn mess into chaos and mayhem? You may already feel like the little control you thought you had is slipping away, but are you trying to hand over the keys to the enemy?
Or are you willing to surrender all to God and declare:
“Lord I know I have control issues but I also want some peace in my life right now. Any amount will be better than what I’m feeling now. So instead of giving in to the pain, and possibly causing others to hurt, I’m going to let go of these reigns and let You do what only You can do. While You’re working Father, I will still show up and do my small part, but instead of crying, yelling, and entertaining the enemy, I will force myself to dance and sing–until it comes naturally!”
We have a choice to live in peace of chaos. I’m choosing peace, how about you? I’m choosing the light not the darkness. I’m choosing good health over depression, illness, and misdiagnosis. I’m choosing clarity over confusion. I’m choosing discernment over blurred vision. What choices will you make?
Just because today’s is April Fool’s Day doesn’t mean you have to be a fool, or continue to be one. Will you let the enemy keep playing you for a fool or will you stand up and show it what you’re made of and to Whom you belong?
Questions of the Day
1. What do you think of today’s message? Did it hit you like it did for me?
2. What would you like to add to today’s message?
3. Do you have a testimony about how choosing peace over chaos positively impacted your life?
4. What is your biggest hurdle for consistently living in peace?
