Father touch my heart so that I lean more towards forgiving than holding grudges of hurt, anger, and disappointment. Help me to forgive and love as Joseph forgave and loved his brothers. Turn me away from thoughts of vengeance. Humbly I pray. Amen.
Imagine this moment if you were Joseph or his brothers. Imagine if you were one of the staff members who overheard this conversation. The emotions would be uncontrollable at times. Consider all of the times leading up to this moment when Joseph had to leave the room to cry, dry his face, regain his composure, and then return. When he finally couldn’t contain his emotions, he let it all pour out.
There have been times when others have harmed us and we didn’t see where this transgression would take us, how we would be helped later on, because we were too consumed by pain. Joseph’s brothers betrayal led him to eventually rule over Egypt and fulfill the dreams that he had years earlier (when he had dreams of them bowing at his feet).
Someone may betray you, but understand that God already mapped out your next chapter, and in your obedience will come victory. Just like Joseph.
