Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 8.31.15

Scripture
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.
Galatians 5:16 NASB
Pray

I don’t want to disappoint You Father. I’m trying to think before I speak, think positively, and force out the negative thoughts that try to influence my decisions. If I focus on You, then only good can come from me. I pray to be steadfast. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Reflection

It’s impossible to know all of the things that God has planned for you. It’s limitless. Your mind can’t even fully comprehend limitless because even the visualization has a stopping point. I truly believe that’s the reason many of us fall short of experiencing what God is offering, because we have placed mental boundaries around ourselves and throughout our interaction with others. We limit our potential in our personal, educational, professional, and spiritual walks.
There’s more ocean than land, yet we’re fixated on the land. The ocean escapes us; it’s filled with mysteries and unknowns that we will never fully discover. One of the beauties of the ocean is it’s freedom. What if we aspired to be more like those rolling waves—not trying to resist, fight, or hold back—just be.

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 8.27.15

Scripture

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Proverbs 15:1
Pray
Father, touch my heart and hold my tongue, when You know that what I’m going to say isn’t loving, kind, considerate, and respectful. Amen.
Reflection
Some people know how to push your buttons. Your family members really know which buttons to push and when to push them. But how do we respond?
Is your home a place of peace or war, compromise or conflict, civil discussions or outright chaos?
Recite these words (Source: Dayspring):
I WILL cultivate a peaceful home where God’s presence is sensed.
What do those words means to you? When you hear them aloud how do you feel?

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 8.26.15

Scripture

An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who shames him is like rottenness in his bones.
Proverbs 12:4 NASB
Pray
Father lift me up, to always walk in dignity, to remember that first impressions are lasting, and that I will never see all of the eyes that see me—so I must focus on conducting myself with respect and honor publicly and privately. Remind me of the name I carry, the legacy of honorable and honored people. Remind me of the blood that was shed so that I might have the freedom I take for granted. Remind me of who I am and to Whom I belong. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Reflection
Ladies, recite this with as much conviction as you would in declaring your value in your life:
I WILL be faithful to my husband and honor him in my conduct and in my conversation, and will aspire to be a suitable partner to help him reach his God-given potential.”
Men, when you read those words understand the magnitude of the woman’s declaration. What kind of man must you be to have a wife who is dedicated to be devoted to this level for her husband?
Husbands, if you are the man that is deserving of this faithful and devoted wife, recite this with the same passion as you would in stating the value of your life:
I WILL be faithful to my wife and honor her in my conduct and in my conversation, and be the man and provider that she needs spiritually, emotionally, and intimately. I will aspire to be a suitable partner that my wife finds deserving of her help so that I can reach my God-given potential. I will also aspire to be a suitable partner for my wife, so that I can help her reach her God-given potential. I won’t bring her shame and I won’t leave her unprotected.”

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 8.25.15

Scripture

These commandments that I gave you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you set it home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down in when you get up.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 NIV

Pray

Keep my head and heart aligned with You Father, so that my feet will always follow. Amen.

Reflection

Whether you have children of your own, children in your family, or children that you know and mentor at a school, church, or in your neighborhood—recite these words and make them your truth:
“I WILL teach my children to love God, respect authority, and live responsibly.”
The African proverb is true, “it takes a village to raise a child” and we have not consistently come together as a village to raise, nurture, support, and correct our children. We need to redirect and realign them. Let’s start today!

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 8.24.15

Scripture

What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8
Pray
Father give me strength to not lash out, even when in pain. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Reflection
Recite these words with the thought of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ seated next to you:
I WILL pursue justice, love mercy, and extend compassion toward others.

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 8.21.15

Scripture

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

Philippians 2:3-4 NLT

Pray

Work on me so that I focus less on the superficial, and more on the eternal; more on what counts and less on the things that you care less about. Thank You for this molding process Father. Thank You for loving me. Amen.

Reflection

This can be a biggie for some people. The first two statements are two of the biggest flaws that we spend a lifetime trying to overcome—selfishness and our fixation on impressing others. This requires looking at life knowing that it’s not about you and only about Him.

How truthfully can you say these words, believe and then live them?

I WILL be quick to listen, slow to speak, and esteem others more highly than myself

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 8.20.15

Scripture

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Colossians 3:17 NIV

Pray

If I do and say all things in Jesus’ name then I would put greater thought in my words and deeds. Touch my heart Father to do exactly that, and walking the walk, I can be more like Jesus as I give thanks to You. Amen.

Reflection

I could be wrong, but I think we would use considerably less profanity, do less vulgar things, be less cruel and disrespectful, and live a more loving life, if we did and said everything in the name of Jesus Christ and giving thanks to God through Jesus.

I know that when I’m around my grandmothers, in church, and around children and senior citizens, I am extremely careful and considerate of what I do and say. Imagine how reserved I would be if I did and said everything in the name of Jesus. Wowsers!

Recite these words until they are yours:

“I WILL seek to devote the best of myself to the primary roles God has entrusted to me” (Source: DaySpring)

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 8.19.15

Scripture

“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart.”

Jeremiah 1:5 NLT

Pray

Father there is no one who knows me like You. There is no source, no human, no being, no spirit—nothing, that knows and understands me like You. You know my heart, no one else does. You made me like no other. I want to strengthen my relationship with You Father. I want to embrace what I have with You. I love You. Amen.

Reflection

What God has intended for you He doesn’t have intended for someone else. What is yours is yours and what is theirs is theirs. What’s meant for you will be yours. We need to stop hating and start celebrating. Give people their “props” for all that they have, and all of their blessings. Stop disrespecting God by making comments that infer or directly state that His child didn’t earn or deserve their blessings. God’s relationship with them is unique and you have absolutely no clue what’s going on over there, just like they have no clue what your relationship with God is like or what He has planned for you. Focus more on Him and less on you. Focus more on Him and less on what others have. Focus on Him.

Recite these words until they are your own:

I WILL embrace my God-given uniqueness and celebrate the distinctions He has placed in others.”

Today I send prayers to the late Nathaniel “Nate Dogg” Hale. God’s child. His life and legacy was based on and made sense by he and His Maker. His blessings were his and he shared some of his gifts with the world. Many of us struggle with sharing our gifts. Nate had a God-given uniqueness that I’m sure he’s still sharing. Continue to rest in peace Nate! God bless you!

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 8.18.15

Scripture

I have rejoiced in Your laws as much as in riches. I will study Your commandments and reflect on Your ways. I will delight in Your decrees and not forget Your word.”

Psalm 119:14-16 NLT

Pray

Father I pray to be a better student of Your Word, a better servant to and for You, a better child and reflection of You, and to be obedient at all times. I know better. Correct my steps Lord. Help me to stop and think before I act and speak. I’m praying for the words to come out of my mouth and reflect Your Light. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Reflection

Oh this is something that I struggle with each day. Following God’s commandments and never forgetting His Word. Just because we know the law doesn’t mean we follow the laws. We have to pray for the strength and courage to walk the walk.

Recite these words until they naturally flow from you:
I will live as a woman/man answerable to God and faithfully committed to His Word.”

The only way to be the servant God intends us to be is to be faithfully committed to His Word.

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 8.17.15

Scripture
True godliness with contentment is itself great wealth.

1 Timothy 6:6 NLT

Pray
Father fill me with peace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Reflection
True wealth comes from within. When we’re filled with peace we become content with life as it is. Reflecting God’s Love and Light brings us peace. It’s a natural ebb and flow, and we should seek to embrace the very things that can bring us contentment.

Recite these words repeatedly until you believe it: “I will embrace my current season of life and live with a spirit of contentment.”

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer and Reflection for 8.14.15

Scripture

“The Lord said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and stay there so that I may give you the stone tablets with the law and commandments I have written for their instruction.” So Moses arose with his assistant Joshua and went up the mountain of God.
The glory of the Lord settled on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days. On the seventh day He called to Moses from the cloud.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭24:12-13, 16‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Pray
Father I pray for peace, discernment, and to be obedient. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Reflection
Imagine this moment—Moses being called by God to climb up Mount Sinai to collect and bring back to the Israelites the Ten Commandments that are to govern their people, without question or modification. Reflect over what they have already gone through as a people, more than 400 years of slavery, a dramatic exodus from Egypt, and uncertainty of what’s to come.
All of this takes great courage and faith. Could you do it?

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer and Reflection for 8.12.15

Scripture

“Just then someone came up and asked Him, “Teacher, what good must I do to have eternal life? ”
“Why do you ask Me about what is good? ” He said to him. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”
“Which ones? ” he asked Him.
Jesus answered: Do not murder; do not commit adultery; do not steal; do not bear false witness; honor your father and your mother; and love your neighbor as yourself.
“I have kept all these,” the young man told Him. “What do I still lack? ”
“If you want to be perfect,” Jesus said to him, “go, sell your belongings and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.”
When the young man heard that command, he went away grieving, because he had many possessions.
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “I assure you: It will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven! Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭19:16-24‬ ‭HCSB‬‬
Pray
Father thank You for this day. I closed my eyes last night not knowing what today would bring for me, life here or life on the next level, and You blessed me with another day here to serve You and help the least of Your children—wealthy, rich, and poor.
Father I pray for less of me and more of You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Reflection
As we walk around in human form, flawed by our limited perception that this life is the greatest is could ever be, ignorant enough to believe that one day we’ll figure out God’s secret and ways, we don’t realize that there is no way of knowing who will be victorious after leaving this human shell we call a body.
The wealthy who write checks to NGOs (or start their own) may think that they have earned their “spot”. The super flashy rich may think that their donated clothes or occasional press opportunity at the local shelter, is how they will earn their “spot”. The financially poor may think that being destitute and hopeless is a guaranteed “shoe in”.
But what if we’re spiritually poor? What if we are bankrupt and lack faith, hope, and love? You can be the wealthiest person on the planet, but how does that measure up to spiritual bankruptcy? What is more important, the material possessions or the relationship with God?
I’m not telling people with money and resources to get rid of these things. I’m asking, do you give God all the glory and praise for what you have, big and small, that of little monetary value as well as those things you consider priceless? Do you show through your actions that all that you have and all that you are is only possible because of God’s grace and mercy?
From the socks and shoes that you put on your feet, the bed you sleep in, the car you drive, the food and drink you consume, the things you read, the things that you say and do—in what ways are you saying “thank You” to God each day?
Consider that.

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer and Reflection for 8.11.15

Scripture

“After the Lord had finished speaking to Job, He said to Eliphaz the Temanite: “I am angry with you and your two friends, for you have not spoken the truth about Me, as My servant Job has. Now take seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and offer a burnt offering for yourselves. Then My servant Job will pray for you. I will surely accept his prayer and not deal with you as your folly deserves. For you have not spoken the truth about Me, as My servant Job has.”
Then Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the Lord had told them, and the Lord accepted Job’s prayer. After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his prosperity and doubled his previous possessions.
So the Lord blessed the last part of Job’s life more than the first. He owned 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys. He also had seven sons and three daughters.
Job lived 140 years after this and saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. Then Job died, old and full of days.”
‭‭Job‬ ‭42:7-10, 12-13, 16-17‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Pray
Thank You for my daily blessings Father. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Reflection
After God chastised Job, He then chastised his friends for not speaking as boldly and truthfully about Him as Job did. Now I know that some people literally and figuratively scratch their heads over this, because when you read over the passages where all three men spoke to Job, and then the youngster, Elihu, had his turn, you may think that they all spoke the truth about God. You may naturally think that it was Job, not these other men, who spoke untruthfully about God.
But what did God say?
After these men were chastised and told to make altar sacrifices, Job was restored physically and financially as before, and then God doubled his wealth. None of the men were punished or made to suffer in any way. But you’re still scratching your head about God’s assessment of Job versus his three friends. God wasn’t confused. He said what He knew.
So what is the lesson that you learned from this story?

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer and Reflection for 8.10.15

Scripture

“The Lord answered Job: Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him? Let him who argues with God give an answer. Then Job answered the Lord: I am so insignificant. How can I answer You? I place my hand over my mouth. I have spoken once, and I will not reply; twice, but now I can add nothing. Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind: Get ready to answer Me like a man; When I question you, you will inform Me. Would you really challenge My justice? Would you declare Me guilty to justify yourself?”

‭‭

“Then Job replied to the Lord: I know that You can do anything and no plan of Yours can be thwarted. You asked, “Who is this who conceals My counsel with ignorance? ” Surely I spoke about things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know. You said, “Listen now, and I will speak. When I question you, you will inform Me.” I had heard rumors about You, but now my eyes have seen You. Therefore I take back my words and repent in dust and ashes.”

Job‬ ‭40:1-8‬ ‭HCSB

Job‬ ‭42:1-6‬ ‭HCSB‬‬
Pray

Touch my heart Lord. Help me help myself to let go. Thank You Father. Amen.
Reflection

Let me start off today’s post by apologizing for not noticing that two of last week’s posts did not publish. I must have lost a strong internet connection, so they never went out, and I never double checked. I just went on with my day. My apologies.
Next let me send some love to my mother, Gwendolyn Foreman, and my late father, Robert Foreman. Today would have been their 41st wedding anniversary. My parents divorced (after roughly 26 years of marriage) but remained super close friends, so I’ve always acknowledged their anniversary because the love never left.
Now, let’s reflect on today’s scripture and prayer….
Job and God are having a deep conversation about Job and his fears, and insecurity. Job was faithful based on rumors that he had heard about God, but it’s clear that he did not see his own relationship with God, and that is why when his body was inflicted with illness he turned on God, and began to question Him.
Job needed reassurance that God was real, was in his life, and was actively engaged in his life. Once he heard God’s voice he was reassured.
The crazy thing is this, how many times did God speak to Job in the past and Job never heard His voice because he was too preoccupied? Yet, Job wanted God to stop all things and answer immediately, and with certainty, Job’s pleas and questions.
Whether God speaks direct or has His angels speak to us, we need to always be receptive to that small, faint voice within. We’re expecting some motion picture sound effects to take place. We’re expecting to see a burning bush, cloud, or some other symbol that we’ve read about in the Bible. But honestly, how many of us would stick around to listen to a voice coming from a burning bush or cloud? We would swear we were hallucinating or it was the enemy.
With all of the technology and sources of distraction in the world, God is smart enough to reach us in a different way than he did more than 2,000 years ago. Do you not think that the Master Innovator cannot be innovative today?
I hear His voice clearer when I turn off and tune out all other noise. Turn off the tv and radio, silence your other electronic devices, and then just listen. Sitting outside in nature, disconnected from technology, frees you to just be still. God wants us to be still.
Be still.
Questions of the Day
1. What do you think of today’s message?
2. What would you like to add to today’s prayer and/or reflection?
3. What do you think of God’s and Job’s responses to each other?
4. What do you think about Job’s last statement, that he had heard rumors about God, but now that he personally has seen Him, he believes and repents for all that he has said and done?
5. In what ways can you relate to Job?

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer and Reflection for 8.7.15

Scripture

“Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind. He said: Who is this who obscures My counsel with ignorant words? Get ready to answer Me like a man; when I question you, you will inform Me. Where were you when I established the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding.
Have you ever in your life commanded the morning or assigned the dawn its place, so it may seize the edges of the earth and shake the wicked out of it?
Light is withheld from the wicked, and the arm raised in violence is broken.
Have you comprehended the extent of the earth? Tell Me, if you know all this. Where is the road to the home of light? Do you know where darkness lives,
Don’t you know? You were already born; you have lived so long!
Do you know the laws of heaven? Can you impose its authority on earth?
Can you send out lightning bolts, and they go? Do they report to you: “Here we are”? Who put wisdom in the heart or gave the mind understanding?”
‭‭Job‬ ‭38:1-4, 12-13, 15, 18-19, 21, 33, 35-36‬ ‭HCSB‬‬
Pray

Father forgive me if I ever question You. You know that it is my ignorance and fear temporarily consuming me. I know that I can never fully understand what You do and why You do things. I apologize if ever I offended or offend You. Amen.
Reflection

Whoa…I don’t think that Job was expecting this response from God. God wants to know how Job could possibly ever bring his mind and mouth to question Him, when Job is simply a mere mortal without authority.
This would be what one could call (back in the 1990s) a verbal “chin check” on Job. God’s response definitely brings things into perspective when you look at things through His lens. We forget that He already sees through ours.

Questions of the Day
1. What do you think of today’s message?
2. What would you like to add to today’s prayer and/or reflection?
3. What do you think of God’s response to Job ?
4. After hearing these words from God, how would you feel and respond, if you were Job?

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer and Reflection for 8.6.15

Scripture

“Yes, God is mighty, but He despises no one; He understands all things. He does not keep the wicked alive, but He gives justice to the afflicted. He does not remove His gaze from the righteous, but He seats them forever with enthroned kings, and they are exalted.
He opens their ears to correction and insists they repent from iniquity. If they serve Him obediently, they will end their days in prosperity and their years in happiness. But if they do not obey, they will cross the river of death and die without knowledge.
God rescues the afflicted by their affliction; He instructs them by their torment.
Yet now you are obsessed with the judgment due the wicked; judgment and justice have seized you.
Can your wealth or all your physical exertion keep you from distress?
Be careful that you do not turn to iniquity, for that is why you have been tested by affliction.”
“The Almighty — we cannot reach Him — He is exalted in power! He will not oppress justice and abundant righteousness, Therefore, men fear Him. He does not look favorably on any who are wise in heart.”

‭‭
‭‭Job‬ ‭36:5-7, 10-12, 15, 17, 19, 21‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Job‬ ‭37:23-24‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Pray

Thank You for this day Father. The fact that I’m here is a blessing, a gift from You, Your embrace that can’t be measured. Thank You.
You know my heart and You know where my feet are taking me on this path Father. You know where I am strong and where I am weak. I pray for strength where I am weak, and reinforcement in the areas where I am already strong. When the pain stirs up fear please replace that useless emotion with praise, so that I can be filled with faith and not drained by doubt. Humbly I pray to You today. Amen.

Reflection
Many of us think that there’s a magical number that once reached, we will somehow be exempt from trials and tribulations. I think that time comes when we’ve transitioned on to the next level of existence, but surely not while we walk upright in human form. What person have you read and studied about in the Bible, or any spiritual text, that didn’t face uphill battles and downhill avalanches?
If I did nothing in malice I don’t see my torment as being malicious or a form of punishment, just a test, just the potter molding the clay. Oh how painful it can be, but the finished product will be splendid—absolutely priceless!
Questions of the Day
1. What do you think of today’s message?
2. What would you like to add to today’s prayer and/or reflection?
3. What do you think of Elihu and his message?
4. How is Elihu’s approach different than the other three men?

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer and Reflection for 8.5.15

Scripture
“Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding. It is impossible for God to do wrong, and for the Almighty to act unjustly. For He repays a person according to his deeds, and He brings his ways on him.
God is not partial to princes and does not favor the rich over the poor, for they are all the work of His hands. They die suddenly in the middle of the night; people shudder, then pass away. Even the mighty are removed without effort.
Suppose someone says to God, “I have endured my punishment; I will no longer act wickedly. Teach me what I cannot see; if I have done wrong, I won’t do it again.” Should God repay you on your terms when you have rejected His? You must choose, not I! So declare what you know.
If only Job were tested to the limit, because his answers are like those of wicked men. For he adds rebellion to his sin; he scornfully claps in our presence, while multiplying his words against God.”
‭‭Job‬ ‭34:10-11, 19-20, 31-33, 36-37‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Pray
Father I pray for peace within. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Reflection
God doesn’t make mistakes. He doesn’t straddle fences and exist in indecisiveness. He doesn’t have second thoughts or act with hesitation. God doesn’t reward evil. He also doesn’t punish good. So why do we think He does these things?
Nothing good comes without sacrifice on some level. Hard work comes with some degree of pain. The molded clay isn’t smoothly shaped with lack of friction. The process is labor intensive, and requires just enough–but not too much–water, to help smooth out the rough patches.
We keep confusing ourselves thinking that somehow we’re a finished product, painted with bright colors and shiny, when we’re still a clump of clay being shaped. We need to praise when the water is sparse just as we do when it is plenty.

Questions of the Day
1. What do you think of today’s message?

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer and Reflection for 8.4.15

Scripture
“So these three men quit answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes. Then Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite from the family of Ram became angry. He was angry at Job because he had justified himself rather than God. He was also angry at Job’s three friends because they had failed to refute him and yet had condemned him.
So Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite replied: I am young in years, while you are old; therefore I was timid and afraid to tell you what I know. I thought that age should speak and maturity should teach wisdom.
It is not only the old who are wise or the elderly who understand how to judge.
I paid close attention to you. Yet no one proved Job wrong; not one of you refuted his arguments.”
“But now, Job, pay attention to my speech, and listen to all my words.
The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
I am just like you before God; I was also pinched off from a piece of clay.
But I tell you that you are wrong in this matter, since God is greater than man.
For God speaks time and again, but a person may not notice it. In a dream, a vision in the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they slumber on their beds,
God spares his soul from the Pit, his life from crossing the river of death.”

‭‭

‭‭Job‬ ‭32:1-3, 6-7, 9, 12‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Job‬ ‭33:1, 4, 6, 12, 14-15, 18‬ ‭HCSB‬‬
Pray
Father thank You for this day. A blessing from You. Father I read Elihu’s words and I think of the wisdom imparted on youth, that shock the minds and stir the souls of the older generations who sit in awe. May I hear and embrace wisdom even from the least expected source. Keep me open-minded and receptive. I pray for discernment and that my heart always be kept warm. I pray to be a reflection that brings You pride and not disappointment. I thank You for all that You have done and provided, and all that You will do and provide in the future.
As a believer in Christ, I pray to You today and always. Amen.
Reflection

Imagine that, a youngster with wisdom, discernment, and insight. I’m sure none of the older men expected that level and intensity of intervention, especially not from Elihu. What if they hadn’t given him the opportunity to speak?
Think of the young voices that have been silenced over the years, silenced even today. We place limits on people’s capability and capacity, according to our determination, but what if we are the limited ones?
How many voices do we stifle that should be heard?

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer and Reflection for 8.3.15

Scripture
“Then Job answered: Today also my complaint is bitter. His hand is heavy despite my groaning. If only I knew how to find Him, so that I could go to His throne. I would plead my case before Him and fill my mouth with arguments.
“Why does the Almighty not reserve times for judgment? Why do those who know Him never see His days? The wicked displace boundary markers. They steal a flock and provide pasture for it.
They push the needy off the road; the poor of the land are forced into hiding.
The fatherless infant is snatched from the breast; the nursing child of the poor is seized as collateral. Without clothing, they wander about naked. They carry sheaves but go hungry.
From the city, men groan; the mortally wounded cry for help, yet God pays no attention to this crime.
The murderer rises at dawn to kill the poor and needy, and by night he becomes a thief. The adulterer’s eye watches for twilight, thinking: No eye will see me; he covers his face.
If this is not true, then who can prove me a liar and show that my speech is worthless?”

‭‭
Job‬ ‭23:1-4 HCSB‬‬

Job‬ ‭24:1-2, 4, 9-10, 12, 14-15, 25‬ ‭HCSB‬‬
‭‭

Pray

Father keep my head and heart focused on You. Thank You.
Reflection
We have heard similar arguments from people who reached their last straw and began to seriously critique and question God. This is especially true on nonbelievers who point out the bad in the world, share examples of babies and children dying, and then ask how can there be a God—or one worthy of worship.
Humans forget that God sees all, and that just because the murderer, thief and adulterer seemingly walk away unscathed, we have no clue what God has in store for them. We’re not put here to count other people’s blessings, curses, and misfortunes. We’re here to do and be good, and to be obedient in all ways to God. The Creator does not have to answer to the created, yet we expect this, as though we could comprehend.
