I believe Father.
Guide me. Guard me Lord from myself, the enemy, and from others who are easily manipulated by the enemy.
Humbly I pray. Amen.
Jesus attempts to answer the crowd’s question using the metaphor of the “light” thinking they would be wise enough to make the correlation to Him. When they failed to, He then had to just cut straight to the point and say that He was the light– He came as a light to guide them to eternal life with God; that He was there to save not judge them.
Interesting enough, so many Christians associate judgment with Jesus. Maybe it’s because of the multiple books in the Bible that share difference perspectives and lenses of the accounting of what was said or done, or not. Whatever the reason, this viewpoint has also given way to a sea of people who feel entitled to pass judgment on others, as though they have been deemed worthy and appointed to measure another’s worth based on the standards they have set forth, and on a Book that they too struggle to make sense of and follow consistently or at all.
If Jesus was sent to save the world and not judge it, then who are you to assume a role that was never even given to Him–and He’s your Lord and Savior?
