From a Devastating Trauma to a Flourishing Finish

Message From Natasha:

Hello Breaking Bread family!

It’s a beautiful day, even with this Georgia rain whipping through here; I know that God is cleansing the air and land, bringing water where it’s needed, flushing out the junk that humans have carelessly created and tossed to the wayside, and allowing the life cycle to do what it does over and over again. It’s a beautiful thing. Indeed a beautiful day.

I went to bed last night hearing of the mass shooting in Thousand Oaks, California yesterday, and of the body of an unidentified woman found in the outskirts of Georgia, and of the continued search for a teenage girl from Georgia who was kidnapped on her way to school by a man in a Black SUV. This morning I read of the wildfires in Northern California that have caused devastation to land, property, and the lives of humans and countless animals. I pray for the individuals and families directly and indirectly impacted by the traumatic events mentioned above.

We all face trauma, devastation, death, cruelty, pain, disability, and other intolerable acts. Some of us find the way to dig down deep inside and pull out enough strength to get up onto our knees and slowly onto our feet—and inch by inch we begin to walk. Some of us take years to get to this point. Some of us never do.

Today, I decided to share a message from Joel Osteen that my dear friend Juanita Bryan sent to me this morning. She receives his messages daily via text message, I assume, because she forwards them to me via text. Today’s message really hit home with me. It’s right on time, for me; just what I needed to read to charge me up so that I can upset satan again today. I hope that it helps you or someone you know. It is definitely helping me.

I’m praying for our hope, faith, discernment, confidence, strength and courage through all of life’s storms.

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
(Philippians 1:6, NIV)

Everyone goes through seasons of disappointment or difficulty. We all have unexpected setbacks. Maybe you’re going through something right now that you don’t understand. Here’s the good news: that disappointment is not the final chapter. God never ends in a negative. If you will keep moving forward with your life, God promises that He will bring you to a flourishing finish. Not a defeated finish, a bankrupt finish, a betrayed finish, or a barely-get-by finish. No, in your future, God has a victorious finish.

That setback, disappointment or betrayal that seems like it’s working against you, God knows how to turn it around and cause it to work for you. The key is that when you’re in difficult times, don’t settle where you are. Don’t put your roots down and think that things are never going to change. No, for every setback, God has already lined up a comeback. For every injustice, He has vindication. For every disappointment, He has restoration. Right now, just begin to thank Him for what He’s going to do. Praise Him for His faithfulness. Rejoice today because He has a plan to bring you into a flourishing finish!

Father, thank You for Your goodness and faithfulness in my life. I choose to cast my cares on You. I choose to trust even when I don’t understand. I choose to believe that You have a good plan and will bring me to a flourishing finish in Jesus’ name! Amen.
