Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 5.31.19

Scripture

Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’”

Matthew 4:10

Reflection

There is no room for fixation, worship, or service of anything or anyone but God. We cannot be consumed by our material possessions or the desire for them. We cannot worry or contemplate about what we have or had, what we lost or gained. Each moment of each day we are told by God, Jesus and the Bible, that we should be centered around and on God.

No, I don’t want to lose my car, go bankrupt, or be homeless—at the same time I am learning to pray and leave things to God, rather than obsess and still get nothing accomplished. These material possessions are His, on loan to us. So we should learn to pray to Him and ask Him how He wants to handle His possessions. We should ask Him about the pending late payment or collection notice, and how He would like to handle their resolutions—as we are stewards of His possessions—not the other way around.

Worry won’t stop the bill collectors, repo man, or banks attempting to foreclose on your property. But prayer and unwavering conviction, and faith in God’s ability to do all and resolve all, can change your circumstances for the better. God can get rid of the bill collectors, repo man, and foreclosure by supplying you with the resources that you need to get those debts off of your back, and silence the enemy who calls you a failure. God can place you in a position where you can provide for yourself and your family, without added struggle or sacrifice.

The blessings, in many forms, will come through disciplined service and worship of God. But if we invest our time and energy in the material and not the spiritual, we will surely lose those things we possess and admire–-and never gain those things we are focused on attaining. The material is and always will be temporary, but the spiritual is everlasting and boundless.

I have lost more material possessions than some people will ever have. It was a crushing blow each time, but it also humbled me and reminded me that I put more value in what I possessed materially than my spiritual relationship with God. I valued things more than I valued Him. Even though I was a steward of those things, I wasn’t being a faithful and honorable steward. I was forgetting that everything I thought that I owned, I merely was leasing from God—and I wasn’t showing my gratitude on a regular and consistent basis.

I had to be reminded that there are no ‘things’ without Him. There are no cars, jewelry, furniture, clothes, art work, accessories, home, high-balance bank accounts, investments, or anything else—without God.

Just as He gives He can take away, and believe it or not, He does both with love. We cannot benefit from Him and then serve another. It is all or nothing. I choose to dedicate my life to serving God, to work each day to purge my body and my life of impurities, and live transparently for Him so that He may fill me with His goodness—and bless me accordingly.

What are your thoughts? Where do you see yourself in your walk? Have you been struggling with speaking, thinking, and doing right? In what areas can you improve so that you can be a better ambassador for Christ?

Prayer

Father, I will only worship and serve You. I bless Your children through service as Your ambassador, but I serve only You as You are my Creator, Master, Husband, and Father-Mother. I work each day to resist the enemy’s plot to tear me down, manipulate me into doing its work, and convince me to destroy myself. Each day I try to watch and control my words, thoughts, and actions. There are moments when I may slip, and say or think something negative, or react negatively, and I try to catch myself immediately to make right the wrong. I ask for forgiveness, for those moments when I fail, and instead give in to the temptation to think, speak, and behave negatively and recklessly.

Father, help me to shield myself with Your light, to protect myself from the darkness. I pray for Jesus’s guidance to show me how he consistently rebuked the enemy and forced it to get out of his way. I don’t want anything or anyone distracting me from reflecting Your love and light. Touch my heart and mind Lord. Remove all darkness and fill me only with Your light. Amen.

I hope today’s message spoke deeply to someone. As we all struggle with the temptations that will always lead us astray, let’s not only pray for ourselves, but for each other.

Enjoy your last day of May, reflect on the obstacles that you overcame and how God guided and protected you. Then embrace the possibilities that June can bring! Think of all the ways that you can be open in service to our Father. Isn’t that an awesome feeling?

Love your sister in Christ,

Natasha

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 5.30.19

Scripture

The eunuch replied to Philip, “I ask you, who is the prophet saying this about — himself or another person? ” So Philip proceeded to tell him the good news about Jesus, beginning from that Scripture. As they were traveling down the road, they came to some water. The eunuch said, “Look, there’s water! What would keep me from being baptized? ” And Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart you may.” And he replied, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

Then he ordered the chariot to stop, and both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him any longer. But he went on his way rejoicing. Philip appeared in Azotus, and he was traveling and evangelizing all the towns until he came to Caesarea.

Acts 8:34-40 HCSB

Reflection

Yesterday, I shared this story about Philip and the eunuch. Both men not only listened and paid attention to God, but they were obedient without question. Today we look at their quick journey together and its purpose. God brought them together for a reason—to share and spread His Word, to further build His Kingdom, and to ensure that Jesus was implanted in the hearts and minds of the people.

Today, most of Ethiopia is made up of Christians (more than 62 percent) in a country of over 80 million people, and I smile because I reflect on stories in the Bible such as this one and others, of a people who believe so passionately in God and Jesus, in the Word, and in the prophets and messengers that God sent to deliver His Word.

Think about it, they weren’t God’s “chosen”, they weren’t the children of Israel, but they believed that through their belief, worship, praise, and servitude that they too would be saved, receive abundant blessings, and have a better life. They believe that God is our Father and that Jesus is our savior, and the way to the Father—just like the eunuch proclaimed to Philip.

Are you as committed to serving Christ, sharing God’s love and Word, and being the blessing that you want to receive? Are you committed to learning and teaching, being open to not only allow a stranger in to your space but to embrace them? Are you committed to walking each day with faith (not fear) in your heart and mind?

If you’re not, then ask yourself “why?”, and consider what is holding you back. Is it fear? Is it a lack of knowledge? Pray for clarity and a release from the thing(s) holding you back.

If you are already committed, then take the next step to push yourself further so that you are better prepared and more open for what the future will bring your way. We can never be comfortable where we are, for growth is never stagnant.

Prayer

Father, I want to do right by You. I want to work hard, give 100 percent effort in all things, be proactive, faithful, committed, and obedient at all times. I want to be the servant that You have called me to be. I want to share my testimony with the world about Your love, how You have healed me, saved me, and protected me. I want to be more like Jesus. I want to love and respect all that I encounter. Mold out of me my fears. Help me to not procrastinate or be late. Mold out the stubbornness and hard-headedness within me. Cleanse my heart, mind, and my mouth. Keep redirecting me Lord. I humbly pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Happy Thursday family! Feel free to share these Breaking Bread messages with others, and also consider sharing your feedback and reflections with me by posting a comment.

I also welcome shared scriptures, prayers, and reflections that you have written or read from other people. We are coming together to share God’s love through the Bible. Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 5.29.19

Scripture

An angel of the Lord spoke to Philip: “Get up and go south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” (This is the desert road.) So he got up and went.

There was an Ethiopian man, a eunuch and high official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of her entire treasury. He had come to worship in Jerusalem and was sitting in his chariot on his way home, reading the prophet Isaiah aloud.

The Spirit told Philip, “Go and join that chariot.” When Philip ran up to it, he heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you’re reading? ” “How can I,” he said, “unless someone guides me? ” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

Acts 8:26-31 HCSB

Reflection

Both Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch were open, receptive, and obedient to God. Philip could have questioned the angel, and could have refused to obey the Spirit’s directives. The eunuch could have been close-minded and dismissed Philip, instead he welcomed him into his chariot to read the scriptures.

We need to be more like this example, and less cynical and skeptical. We need to be more open because we never know what opportunities or blessings may come our way.

Prayer

Father, I pray for faithfulness to act when called. I pray that when You speak that I not only listen but I answer and respond. I pray that when Your angels direct me that I go without hesitation or question. May my faith be unshakable and unquestionable. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Love,

Natasha

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 5.28.19

Scripture

But I will sing of Your strength and will joyfully proclaim Your faithful love in the morning. For You have been a stronghold for me, a refuge in my day of trouble. To You, my strength, I sing praises, because God is my stronghold — my faithful God.

Psalms 59:16, 17 HCSB

Reflection

Kirk Franklin said it best in his song, “Smile”, that no matter what he went through or goes through he’s going to smile—out of gratitude. He’s going to smile through pain, loss, frustration, disappointment, betrayal, failure, and more—He’s going to smile, smile, smile.

I love that song because it reminds me of how awesome God is, all that Jesus endured and sacrificed (and that I have absolutely nothing to complain about), and that life isn’t supposed to be easy—it’s difficult and requires work, servitude, and sacrifice.

Each day that we open our eyes, we are blessed to experience something new and different than yesterday, and we have an opportunity to step outside of our comfort zones and be better servants and stewards. Each day we’re given the chance to right our wrongs, be a blessing to others, and gain more wisdom through our learned lessons.

Isn’t that amazing?

Those reasons and more should encourage us to sing, praise, dance, and express in other ways our love and appreciation for God. If you believe, then speak it and share it with others.

Prayer

No matter what I go through, no matter what I lose or gain, no matter what others say, You will always be my God and I will always believe that Jesus is my savior. I will pray to and praise You during storms and not just sunny days. I will continue to thank You even in my lowest of hours, because I’m grateful for life and for the experiences I have had so far. I’m grateful for the love received by You and the love received from family, friends, associates, and even strangers. I love You Father. Amen.

Love,

Natasha

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 5.27.19

Scripture

Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the Lord he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.
Deuteronomy 4:39 (KJV)

Reflection

I rebuke the enemy who only has relevance when I give it energy. I rebuke the enemy who is only as great as I make it. When I give into fear it is not God that I give the glory, it is the enemy that is fueled. When I invest my money in people, places, movies, television shows, music, objects, and clothing that promotes the message of the enemy, then it is as though I support the enemy. I pray for discernment and clarification to see the darkness that attempts to enter my life. I pray that I see and bypass the trappings in the world. I pray that you keep your armor and shield close to you, protecting you at all times.

Today I honor those who served and serve in the armed forces, those who passed away in combat, those plagued by ailments and disorders, and those who struggle financially and spiritually due to a lack of support by society. I honor my relatives who served (and to those who still serve) in the Air Force, Marines, Army, and Navy. Thank you for protecting us by land, air, and sea.

Prayer

Father, I pray that I turn to You for all of my needs. I pray that my worry is replaced with confidence, that my weakness is replaced by strength, and that my fear is replaced by courage. May You always be my source. Strengthen me Lord. Help me to fight the temptations of the enemy. Amen.

Love always your sister in Christ,

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 5.24.19

Scripture

A man named Simon had previously practiced sorcery in that city and astounded the Samaritan people, while claiming to be somebody great.

But when they believed Philip, as he preached the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized. Then even Simon himself believed. And after he was baptized, he went around constantly with Philip and was astounded as he observed the signs and great miracles that were being performed.

When Simon saw that the Holy Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money, saying, “Give me this power too, so that anyone I lay hands on may receive the Holy Spirit.” But Peter told him, “May your silver be destroyed with you, because you thought the gift of God could be obtained with money! You have no part or share in this matter, because your heart is not right before God. Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that the intent of your heart may be forgiven you.

Acts 8:9, 12, 13, 18-22 HCSB

Reflection

You cannot lie, pay, bribe, cheat, manipulate, or hoodwink your way into God’s grace—or into heaven—whether you believe it a place here on Earth or a place far above the clouds, in another level of existence. You can’t even access it through prayer and good deeds. It is God who determines whether your heart is pure, right, and just.

God knows our hearts. He knows are intentions, plans, fears, doubts, and thoughts long before we comprehend them. Your abilities come from Him, whether it’s the ability to heal or help others in different ways, only our Father can bless you with those gifts.

The only way to access gifts and use them fully is to free yourself of Y-O-U. Get out of your way. Get out of your mind. Be open fully to God. De-clutter your life, mind, and heart.

Prayer

May I always remain humble in Your eyes Father. Keep me focused Lord. I pray for strength, vision, courage, humility, and clarity. Let me see all that I need to see, let me see through the veils people wear, and please reveal to me when I’m wearing a veil. Let me see my hypocrisy and help me to make right the wrongness that I arrogantly walk upon.

Realign me Father. Place me back on Your straight path, and when my feet begin to turn, I pray that I never stray or become disloyal in any way—as I already have—and the pain of my disobedience is embarrassing, because I know better but keep doing wrong. Purge out the junk that I carry within me. Everything that is not of and by You, help me to remove and not reclaim. Keep me focused on the mission Father. May I joyfully serve for Your glory. Amen.

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 5.23.19

Scripture

A Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law who was respected by all the people, stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered the men to be taken outside for a little while. He said to them, “Men of Israel, be careful about what you’re going to do to these men. And now, I tell you, stay away from these men and leave them alone. For if this plan or this work is of men, it will be overthrown; but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You may even be found fighting against God.”

So they were persuaded by him. After they called in the apostles and had them flogged, they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus and released them. Then they went out from the presence of the Sanhedrin, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to be dishonored on behalf of the Name. Every day in the temple complex, and in various homes, they continued teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah.

Acts 5:34, 35, 38-42 HCSB

Reflection

Be obedient to God and never fearful of recourse from man. God will deal with those who try to stand between you and Him, and those who try to prevent you from living your purpose.

Prayer

Father keep me focused and strengthened. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Love always,

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 5.22.19

Scripture

For it is God who is working in you, enabling you both to desire and to work out His good purpose.

Philippians 2:13 HCSB

Reflection

We have a lot to be grateful for, even when life or Mother Nature hits us with a devastating storm. Each day that we survive is a blessing and we should show our gratitude. Then we should go out and be a blessing to others, and use our gifts and talents to the fullest in honor of our Creator.

What if you don’t know what your God-given purpose is exactly, what should you do? Pray. Pray that God reveals them to you and that you have the insight and vision to see it, and the courage to pursue and live it fully no matter your age or perceived limitations.

How many of you are dreamers?

Do your dreams turn into goals that you pursue and accomplish? Or do you simply dream with the mindset that, “it’s only a dream. I could never have or do that.”

You must, we must, offer all of our dreams to God, allowing God to mold into us the possibilities of achieving the impossible. When we turn things over to God we free ourselves from the bondage of ‘can’t’ and ‘impossible’, and allow ourselves to look around and focus on what God wants us to see and embrace.

How can you possibly see what God wants you to see if you’re preoccupied looking in another direction?

I know that I’ve been a wanderer, drifter, coaster before. I know that I’ve dreamed some big dreams, even set some goals to achieve these dreams, but I would oftentimes fail to turn them over to God. Nope, I was too busy thinking it all had to do with me and was only possible by my hard work and efforts. Boy was I wrong, and I’m still wrong any time I approach life this way. What I want and need in life can only be made possible by and through God. He has to allow it to happen. Just like He made it possible for each of us to be here today.

God is our Father-Mother. He is our true and genuine life partner. Honor your partnership with Him.

We have all been given another chance, another opportunity to live our purpose on purpose. We have all been given another opportunity to set and pursue goals that bring God glory. So instead of us focusing on what we don’t have, what we can’t seem to do, or whatever bad that has happened to us, let’s instead focus on what God can do to make our dreams and goals a reality. Let’s focus on doing our part to bring Him glory.

Prayer

Father, thank You for this day, for another day of life, blessings, gifts, and experiences—- to learn and grow from. Father, I pray that if I’m wrong about my purpose in life, that You will help me to discover and live it fully in Your honor. I offer my dreams to You because only You can make them come true. Father, I pray that the goals that I have set for myself only bring You glory, and never disappointment.

I pray that the steps that I take make my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, proud to be my shepherd. If I misstep Father, please redirect me, because I never want to walk in the wrong direction away from You. Mold me Father. You know my heart. I want to be the best servant that I can be. In Your name I praise. Amen.

Questions of the Day

1. Are you living your God-given purpose?

2. How do you know you’re living your God-given purpose?
3. Are you pursuing only those goals that will bring God glory?
4. In pursuit of these goals do you find pleasure in fulfillment or strain from the intensity of the process?

5. After reading today’s message, how do you see your life and your purpose?

Happy May 22nd family! Wow can you believe that we’re almost halfway through the year? Time sure is flying by, and just another reason why we shouldn’t waste precious moments being idle or running down ‘rabbit holes’. I hope today’s message was enriching, eye-opening, and a decent reinforcement of what you already know.

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 5.21.19

Scripture

When they observed the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed and recognized that they had been with Jesus. And since they saw the man who had been healed standing with them, they had nothing to say in response.

After they had ordered them to leave the Sanhedrin, they conferred among themselves, saying, “What should we do with these men? For an obvious sign, evident to all who live in Jerusalem, has been done through them, and we cannot deny it! However, so this does not spread any further among the people, let’s threaten them against speaking to anyone in this name again.”

So they called for them and ordered them not to preach or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it’s right in the sight of God ⌊for us⌋ to listen to you rather than to God, you decide; for we are unable to stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.”

After threatening them further, they released them. They found no way to punish them, because the people were all giving glory to God over what had been done; for this sign of healing had been performed on a man over 40 years old.

Acts 4:13-22 HCSB

Reflection

A “closet Christian” is not a true believer or follower.

There should be no question in the minds of those who encounter you if you believe, love, and worship God. They may not know your denomination, but through interacting with you they should at least know that you see yourself as a servant of and for God. They should feel the energy of spirituality flow through you. They should be able to feel and see the Light.

If you are a believer AND follower of Christ then you should have no problem letting others know in both your personal and professional lives. You should never worry or question if you should mention God during your interactions with others. If He is in you then you should be sharing Him with others. If you are His perfect creation and reflection, then the world should see Him through you.

In my signature line of my email I have included some passages from the Bible that hit home with me:

Luke 1:37; Luke 17:21; Matthew 4:10; Matthew 6:34; Isaiah 1:17; Proverbs 21:5; Proverbs 21:30; Proverbs 31:10-31

On my social media sites I proclaim myself as a change agent through God, and a servant leader. I don’t care if someone is offended or uncomfortable. That is between them and God. I’m a servant and I’m here to share what God calls on me to share.

I used to be nervous about being open about my beliefs. I didn’t use to like having conversations about religion and spirituality, just like I still don’t like having political conversations (but I will engage when important issues need to be addressed). The reasons for my apprehensions have always been because people are so passionate about religion and politics to the point that they can become belligerent and even violent about two topics that they have absolutely no control over.

I didn’t want to get into a debate over which way is the right way to pray, worship, praise, be saved, be baptized, etc. I didn’t want to debate with people about my choice to pray first before ever considering medical interventions. Just like I shouldn’t have to debate and defend my beliefs about:

– The politicians I vote for
-Women’s rights (and that no one should have the right to tell me what to do with my body)
– Gay marriage (and the hate being focused at people who love each other and are being loving)
– The marginalization of Blacks and other minorities
– The targeted racism and discrimination of Latinos and Muslims, and other groups.
– Numerous other issues

I’ve matured over the past year to realize something, I don’t have to debate or defend.

I don’t have to explain myself to anyone. I don’t have to defend myself. God knows. God guides. God corrects. I don’t have to defend Him.

I have my own relationship with God and with Jesus, and no one can change that. So I have nothing to fear, be ashamed of, nervous about, or uncomfortable with—I am here to live my purpose, with purpose, and on purpose, as God intends. I’m here to be loved, share God’s love, and be loving. I don’t need to drill down or wear someone out about Christ. I just need to touch a life, even for a moment—knowing that God always handles the rest.

So don’t be afraid, ashamed, embarrassed, or nervous about who you are and to Whom you know that you belong. You don’t need to be a deep student of the Word to know and share God’s love. Acts of kindness, having dignity and restoring dignity in others, and being considerate of all people, are ways in which we share His love and follow Jesus’ teachings. Stand proudly and confidently as a believer. Be bold!

Prayer

Father may I never fear punishment or any mistreatment for believing, following, worshipping, speaking, praising, honoring, acknowledging, and praying to You and Your son Jesus Christ. May I never be ashamed of who I am as Your servant and child. May I always proudly and confidently perform my duties while spreading Your Word and testifying about Your love everywhere I go. Keep Your name and Jesus’s name from ever coming out of my mouth in vain, for I only want to glorify and reflect You. I humbly pray these things today and forever. Amen.

Loving you always,

Natasha

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 5.20.19

Scripture

I will praise You because I have been remarkably and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, and I know ⌊this⌋ very well….

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns. See if there is any offensive way in me; lead me in the everlasting way.

Psalms 139:14, 23, 24 HCSB

Reflection

Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired? Are you worn out from things not going as planned?

Well there’s a saying by Woody Allen, that, “if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans” which simply means, it doesn’t matter what your plans in life God is the ultimate decision maker.

We keep getting in the way and we don’t realize it. We keep trying to control our life and we don’t understand that God controls all. We are given opportunities to make decisions along our path, but He is the one to move mountains, calm storms, raise valleys, and protect you while you’re in one.

I think of things like this—about 6 years ago, I went horseback riding for about two hours one day, and upon dismounting from a very active and strong-willed horse, I realized that I had cut my hand pretty deep, probably while holding the roped reigns. That’s how life can be sometimes when we try to control things that are stronger than us, or that we’re unfamiliar with— we sometimes get hurt. Sometimes we have to learn to lighten up our grip on those reigns, and other times we have to just let go.

I just re-read something that hit home with me as it concerned my own life and interferences in it, as well as loved ones that I know who keep ramming their heads into life’s walls. So I have decided to extend this reflection to include the poignant words shared by Joel and Victoria Osteen. I hope that they also hit home with you. I hope that today’s message reinforces what we have discussed and prayed about this year and over the years that I have been posting for Breaking Bread with Natasha. I hope that this double-dosage today will help each of us let go and let God.

Enjoy this added bonus from Joel and Victoria Osteen, that was texted to me in May 2013:

“We all have dreams that we’re believing God for and situations we want to see turn around. Too often, we put God in a box and tell Him how to do it, when to do it, and who to use to do it.

We’ve got it all figured out: how God is going to bring us out of debt, how He is going to change our loved one, how we’re going to meet the right person. We pray that things will unfold according to our plan. But we have to realize that God’s ways are not our ways. He is supernatural. His ways are higher than our ways.

When God does something, it may not always make sense to our minds. If you have preconceived ideas of how you’re going to be promoted and how you’re going to get well, it can limit what God can do. You have to stay open. You may only see one way that it could happen, but God always has an option you can’t see.

Why don’t you surrender your plans to Him today? Put your trust in Him because He is faithful. Let Him direct your steps because His ways are higher, and He knows how to lead you into the life of blessing He has for you.”

Are you one step closer to letting go? We can’t keep trying to grab ahold like the sides of a pool. Don’t get your hand cut like mine (while riding that horse).

Prayer

Father purge from me all that is displeasing to You. Help me to be better, stronger, more courageous, and more giving, loving and forgiving. Mold me to be a better servant, more patient and understanding, and less inclined to interfere in areas that You control. Open my eyes to see and unclench my fists so that I can let go, and finally live. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Love,

Natasha

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 5.15.19

Scripture

So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about 3,000 people were added to them. And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to the prayers.

Then fear came over everyone, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles. Now all the believers were together and held all things in common. They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as anyone had a need.

Every day they devoted themselves ⌊to meeting⌋ together in the temple complex, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with a joyful and humble attitude, praising God and having favor with all the people. And every day the Lord added to them those who were being saved.

Acts 2:41-47 HCSB

Reflection

When you truly believe, then you know what God can, will, and is doing for you.

When you hang around those who are negative, you will take on that energy, and self-sabotage your blessings. When you hang around positive people, that energy becomes a blessing to you and to others that you encounter.

When you give into fear and forget all that God has already done for you, then you block potential blessings from coming your way sooner, or at all. When you walk in confidence and with faith, you can both see and embrace all that God has in store for you.

When you are more concerned with receiving than giving, you will always be left empty. Givers always have a cup that runneth over. Takers, always see their cup as empty or not good enough.

When you selfishly pray only for yourself, you will find out what loneliness is all about. When you pray for others your heart remains warm.

Stretch out of your comfort zone. Believe. Demonstrate. Be!

Prayer

Father, I ask that I may see what You need me to see, in order to survive, thrive, excel, and succeed— in life, in my Christianly walk, with my family, and in my career. Father, when You open doors and windows of opportunity for me, I pray that I not only see them but that I am strengthened to seize those moments. I pray that I can discern those individuals that You send my way, from those who have bad intentions.

Father, free my family from debt. Release the burden from their shoulders so that they might rebuild on a better foundation. Heal my loved ones of any and all inflictions. Restore the minds of my elders who may be struggling with reality, time, and place. Free them from the cloud that keeps forming in their minds so that they might truly enjoy their remaining days and years here on Earth.

Help me to be more financially capable of not just taking care of my needs, but to help those who go without. Only You are capable of doing these things and that’s why I am humbly asking You for these blessings, in Jesus’ name. I praise Your Holy name. Amen.

Lovingly,

Natasha

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 5.14.19

Scripture

Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 HCSB

Reflection

No matter what happens in your life God can help see you it through, help heal your wounds, help push you up the mountainside and up out of the valley. God can erase your tears and fears, remove the pain, and restore your joy.

You must open up and let Him in. You must walk holding the hand of our Savior, Jesus Christ—following his lead, every step of the way.

Whenever you forget, just stop and pray—and you will remember!

Prayer

Father, I know that there will always be tests, challenges, setbacks and failures in life. I accept these things as necessary steps to make me greater, stronger, wiser, more courageous and even more compassionate.

I accept my role on this planet and in Your Kingdom, and through both joy and sorrow I gladly, and humbly, carry my cross. I know that I can always turn to You, seek comfort in You, and direction from Your son Jesus. Thank You Father!

Love always,

Natasha

To the Praying Matriarchs That Helped Mold Me

It feels awkward not having my grandmothers here to call, just because they were on my mind, and to celebrate their birthdays and holidays.

I miss trying to find just the right floral arrangement and gifts for them. I miss their smiles and laughs. I miss their side eye when I would get “beside” myself. I miss hearing them tell about their past, their hopes and dreams, and the wisdom passed to me as counsel. I miss them dearly.

Happy Mother’s Day to my maternal grandmother, Maxine B. Stephens, and my paternal grandmother, Dorrisene N. Foreman. I know that you’re here but I wish that you were HERE to hug and hold hands.

I love you Mamacine and Mama!!!!!!!!

Love you always, near and far…

Happy Mother’s Day

I would like to wish all of the mothers of the world, a Happy Mother’s Day.

You may have birthed a child that you’re currently embracing and enjoying the day with, or one who lives far away but you’re only a phone call away from saying “I love you”.

You may have birthed a child that has transitioned, and is no longer here in the physical sense.

You may have birthed a child that you chose to give a better life than the one that you felt you could provide, so you lovingly placed them for adoption—-to bless another mother who had been waiting to share her gifts and blessings for a special soul, such as your bundle of joy.

You may have carried life within, for that life to cease, without you ever laying your eyes upon theirs.

You may have or had a desire to give birth to your own child, but through no fault of your own your body isn’t aligning with your dreams and goals—so you decided to pour your mothering love into a child whose been waiting just for you. Through your fostering or adoption, you are investing in and empowering them in ways that only a mother could.

Maybe you have been trying for years to get pregnant and now you sit and wonder, what will you do next. You know at your core that you’re a mother. Yes, you are!

To every mother described above and to every mother example that I overlooked, let me honor you today and every day.

Happy Mother’s Day Queens!

I salute you!!! 💖

Lovingly,

Natasha

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 5.10.19

Scripture

Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.

1 Peter 3:8

Reflection

None of us are God. Only He can be Judge, King, Master, and Ruler of all. We also don’t love unconditionally as our Father loves us. We have so many conditions that we have even placed conditions on our relationship with Him. The servant has conditions for the Master, and we wonder why we have so many problems.

None of us are Jesus, and this is clear since none of us have the compassion and willingness to forgive and let go immediately the sins of another. We forgive with conditions. We forgive yet hold on to the issues. We forgive until we have an excuse to stop forgiving. None of us listen with the ear and heart of Jesus. We listen just to reply, and reply just to have a position. Our hearts have a thermostat on them that is regulated by us, because we don’t want to release control to God.

We say we want to be more like Jesus, that we want to be righteous Christians and servants of our Father, yet daily we make choices to the contrary. Daily we place conditions on our relationships with others. Daily we say, “I will love you if…” and that “if” is a condition of us seeking to control the relationship and that person. Basically, some of us are saying, “I love you if you obey me” and we forget that we are not God. We don’t obey Him so who are we to expect or demand obedience from others?

We fail in our attempts to be good sheep when we dump our issues and insecurities on others. When we lash out at others, demean them, curse at and to them, yell at them, and make them feel less than worthy of praise and compassion.

Pray to God to release you from the darkness that would have you feel as though you are more superior and entitled than others based on your religion, looks, race, gender, title, family name, address, car, material possessions, credit score, social affiliation, the balance in your bank account, or anything else.

No one should be treated as though they are a creature, as though they are a pet to be used for enjoyment and control. Remember that God is looking at how you treat all of His children. He could care less how much you donate to charity or volunteer in the community. If you spend the rest of your time disrespecting His children, then you have cancelled out the good that you have done.

If you disrespect your spouse or significant other, cheat on them, treat them as though they are only here to serve you, and make you look and feel good—then God has a response for that action.

If you talk down to people, treat them as though they are less than, as though they are their job title or their circumstances, then God has a way of dealing with that also.

God balances out the darkness with His light. He balances out the bad with good. God always makes things right.

We are all servants, none of us better than the other, and none of us guaranteed a spot on the right side of God. It is our daily walk and how we treat ourselves, and each other, that determines how our life on Earth will be, and how our life will be in the next level of existence.

We all have a choice.

Prayer

Father before I encounter one of Your children, touch my heart so that it is warm. No matter what issues I may be dealing with I don’t want other people to be negatively impacted. Let me always be compassionate to others needs and feelings. I want other people to always feel respected and appreciated by me. I want people to leave feeling good and feeling Your love that came through me.

Father let me listen more, speak when necessary and only with Your guidance. Let me forgive and let go rather than say I have forgiven, only to rehash the issues later, or be devoured by the internalized poison.

Humbly I pray to You. Amen.

Love always,

Natasha

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 5.9.19

Scripture

“I have spoken these things to you so that My joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.”

John 15:11

Reflection

May God’s peace blanket you and bring you a sense of calmness that gets you through the roughest of times. May His love bring you joy even in times when you want to give in to the pain and chaos.

To fully embrace all of what God has in store for us and all of our blessings, we must show our thanks each day for what He has already given us and for what He plans to provide. Let us show our thanks because what He’s done so far is actually all that we ever need. He has done enough already, yet He says He still has more if we allow Him in. Will you give Him full access to you?

Let’s praise Him now, and remember don’t forget to smile today at everyone you encounter–-it’s contagious!

Happy birthday to my uncle Ricardo. I know that you’re resting in peace and pleased with your assignment. I can’t believe that so many years have passed since you transitioned, but I’m comforted in knowing that you are well and in no pain. I love you Ricky!!!!

Prayer

Today I am thankful for the joy You have given me and the joy in my heart. I pray for those who seek comfort, peace, and joy in their lives. I pray for balance through You both in my life and theirs. Amen.

Love,

Natasha

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 5.8.19

Scripture

A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.

Proverbs 17:22

Reflection

They say laughter is the best medicine. It can heal and help you, even in your darkest hour.

Ever laugh so hard it hurts? Ever laugh so hard you cry? That kind of laughter makes you temporarily or sometimes permanently forget reasons for pain, discomfort, sadness and disappointment.

Every day you should find yourself in moments of laughter. Find humor in things and in life.

Those people you see who look much younger than their age are oftentimes blessed with a great sense of humor. Some of you look beat down. Maybe you need a strong dose of laughter to help lift you back up.

Makeup, eyelash extensions, hair dye, toupees, waist trainers, hair extensions, and weaves can’t hide what’s going on inside of you. What’s inside always comes out and plants itself right on top of your face. Good or bad, it shows.

Laugh today. Make someone else laugh today. Watch what happens!

Prayer

Through the most troubling of times please always place warmth in my heart, where I can always smile, laugh, feel joy, and praise You Father. Let me still laugh even while in pain. Let me find humor even when I’m scared.

When days get dark, let me always find Your light. Let Your energy flow through me so intense that I still want to dance and sing, even in the rain. I ask these things with a smile on my face and joy in my heart. Amen.

Love,

Natasha

Scripture

“Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:9 CSB

Reflection

We have to decide whether we take the step forward in faith, a step back in fear, or remain stagnant in doubt or complacency. Only one of those choices leads to growth, peace, joy and abundance.

Choose.

Prayer

Father, I will pray about a situation and then leave it in Your more than capable Hands; to not worry about, fret over, contemplate, or question.

I say I trust You, so now and every day I must prove this declaration to be sincere.

Love,

Natasha

Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 5.6.19

Scripture

As the water reflects the face, so the heart reflects the person.

Proverbs 27:19

Reflection

Your character speaks volumes about who you are. If you live by the code of honor, you are an honorable person. However, if you lie you are a liar. If you cheat you are a cheater. If you steal you are a thief. If you kill you are a killer. If you rape you are a rapist. If you abuse others you are an abuser.

What we do, say, and think make up who we are.

Day by day we must build our character up to be honorable expressions of God and His love. I read something beautiful in a devotional book for Christian women that said, “Character isn’t built overnight; it is built slowly over a lifetime. It is the sum of every sensible choice, every honorable decision, and every honest word. It is forged on the anvil of sincerity and polished by the virtue of fairness. Character is a precious thing—preserve yours at all costs.”

How do you want to be viewed by God and our shepherd Jesus? How do you want the world to view God and Jesus?

The way you live your life as a self-proclaimed Christian tells the world exactly who you are, the type of relationship you have with God and Jesus, and what Christianity and being a Christian truly means to you—and to them.

Ask yourself this question, and be totally honest: Would you agree to go to church with you, if invited? Would you attend Bible study with yourself if invited? Would you listen to yourself speak of the Bible if given the opportunity?

Why would another person go to church with you, attend Bible study with you, or listen to your interpretation of the Bible?

Be the example you want others to see when they look at and interact with you.

Prayer

Father let my heart reflect You, Your Love, and Your goodness. Let every person who encounters me always be filled with Your light reflected from me. Let each person who leaves my side always leave feeling renewed and appreciated. Let me always uplift and never tear down.

Let me pray to You before I speak, before I say something negative, and before I act upon my thoughts. Let me immediately wipe out negative thoughts before they have a chance to settle in and influence my decisions.

Let my integrity and character speak loud and clear about me and the person that I am. I am Your child and I want the world to know Who I represent each and every day.

Love always,

Natasha
