Reflection

Imagine how life would be, how our world would be if men and women truly loved each other with the purpose, passion, devotion, honesty, conviction, and commitment— as Jesus loves us.

Think of a world without infidelity, abuse, dishonesty, violence, and cruelty. That would be a world that really represented God’s Kingdom.

In what ways would our personal lives change if we made an effort to be honest, faithful, committed, loving, and caring? Think about it and then share your thoughts.

Enjoy your last day of January! Let’s get ready for February!!!

Prayer

Father, thank You for the love You share with me. That love overflows into the lives of people that I love, and those that I grow to love increasingly. Father, let me love as deep and with as strong a commitment as Your son Jesus loves. Let me see the world as You intend, and let me approach life as You command. In Your name I pray for courage, as I take my next step towards being more like Jesus. Amen.

Update on My New Book…Books…

Hi Breaking Bread family! I want to give you an update on my book. I try to be as transparent as I can about me, my life, and my projects. The same is true with the books I’m writing. As many of you know, I’m writing a book that is motivated and based upon my journey through Breaking Bread. It’s bolder, more challenging, and more proactive.

Let me share the latest

Well folks, long story short…my book is too long, way too long. It’s so long I wouldn’t even buy it. I would just keep walking by it in the bookstore or keep scrolling past (on my computer). And if I bought it, I wouldn’t read all of it. I’m serious.

So what does that mean?

It means your girl (me) has to split this book into two. Yep, two. Yep.

Two books. With a reasonable amount of pages. Enough to interest you but not repulse you. Because if I wouldn’t want it, why in the world would you?

The Process

It sounds way easier than it is. I have to figure out how to transition half of the book into a new one, seamlessly, using the same editing software. I also have to trace any parts of the book where I may have pointed my readers into another part of the book. If that part happens to be in a section that will be in the new book, then I have to adjust the wording accordingly.

Then the endnotes have to be adjusted, and I have tons of those. If you knew how many sources I read, studied, skimmed, and then had to accurately align with my commentary. Uugh. It’s painful.

I’ve asked myself a few times, “Why did you feel the need to provide references for your readers?” And my reply is always, “So they can read and learn for themselves”. I want readers to have a new experience. Not to be merely entertained or pumped up on a short-term spiritual high.

I want people to start taking the steps towards their own breakthroughs, to have a different type of relationship with God, self, and others. So I’m being obedient in typing and sharing what God pours into me.

Ohhhh

This has felt like the longest labor and delivery experience EVER, but I know it isn’t. I know it won’t be. There’s lessons and blessings in this experience. I was blessed to write the words that encompass this book, or I should now say, books. I was. I am.

I knew there would be at least two volumes and at least two additional books that would align with the concepts shared. But I didn’t realize how much God was pouring into me and how that was translating into pages, and bodies of work. I hoped that with formatting, the word count wouldn’t convert to the number of pages that I calculated. Joke’s on me. Calculations were accurate.

My desire was to have this content as one book, then I could continue writing the content for volume two. From there I would consider writing one or two more volumes. Now, as I pray about this situation, I’m waiting for clarity—with this book being broken into two volumes, does that mean I only have to write one additional book to serve as the third volume? Or is God directing me to do something else? I’m waiting for clarity.

God’s Time, Not Mine

I have a bad habit of jumping before I’m told, rushing into things before He gives me the green light. I’m choosing to break that habit. It’s exhausting and time consuming having to walk back to where you were supposed to be before you excitedly broke loose. I have to laugh at this experience. Through my groans, I laugh.

I can say that I’m blessed to be in this position. I would rather have too much content than not enough, or worse— none. I’m glad to be in the position to question where to realign content, than to question when an idea will manifest into written/typed words. I’m being blessed with abundance, so I don’t dare to express a sense of lack, simply because it throws me off of my desired schedule.

These books can be started at any time. Readers don’t have to wait until the first of the year to begin. You begin the day you open the book and start reading. I’m going to stop stressing or being bothered by man’s calendars. I’m going to let God do what God does. I’m going to get on His master calendar.

Had I worked off of His timeline in the very beginning, I wouldn’t be in this situation right now. My lack of focus and discipline kept me behind schedule. I own my goof ups. One of many lessons learned.

So When, Then?

If you’re wondering when you will be able to get your hands on this first book—all I can say is soon. I took off Tuesday and yesterday from editing. I was exhausted. Mentally and physically.

Today I sit down and begin to trace my content. I don’t want you to read something that points you somewhere in my book, just to find out it’s been moved to the second book. That would just suck. I want you to be encouraged to transition to the second book, to continue the spiritual journey.

So, that’s my focus today. If I can effectively trace and rewrite those directives today, then I can begin highlighting the split of the endnotes, and then figure out how in the world to transfer half of the content into a new book using the same editing software. I know there’s an easier way than what first comes to mind. I’m going to pray to God for guidance on that.

I keep telling myself, “All of this is done to glorify God. It’s the act of love!” Today I take the next steps, in love, to do as I’ve been called to do. Please pray for me!

Breaking Bread for 1.30.20

Scripture

Watch what God does, and then do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.

Ephesians 5:1-2

Reflection

We must be God’s reflection in every aspect of our lives. God doesn’t just love one type of person, He loves all people. He loves those who love Him, those who don’t know Him, and even those who say they don’t believe in Him. God is love.

We must learn to love all people regardless of how they look, how they behave, how they pray, if they pray, and whether or not they believe in God, another god, or multiple gods.

We must love all people regardless of the color of their skin, where they live, or how much money they make. We must learn to love passionately, intentionally, and deeply. We must learn to love without expecting anything in return. You can love afar if you can’t love near. Just love.

Jesus loved and loves us regardless if we followed (and still follow) him or not. We must give our all like Jesus. You don’t have to agree with or align with a person to love them. You may not like them, but you can still love them.

God created them just like He created you. You’re just on different paths, having different experiences, and struggling in different ways. Can you fathom that concept? Try it.

Prayer

Father, I want to learn how to love like You, and live the life You expect of me. Touch my heart Lord. Redirect me when I stray. In Your name I pray. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 1.28.20

His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.

2 Peter 1:3-9

Reflection

Enhance the positive and loving characteristics and attributes you possess, and work to build and strengthen those elements that you don’t express fully, doing so as God would intend.

The only way you will be effective and productive in any aspect of your life is to follow the lessons of Jesus and the word of God, our Father. As long as you fail to have faith and embrace God’s goodness, you will remain nearsighted and blind to God’s reality for you and your life.

Prayer

Father, with You all of my needs are met, all of my wishes and dreams are fulfilled, all of my goals are accomplished, and all of my fears are diffused. You never break a promise to me and You never lead me astray.

Thank You Father. Today I want to reinforce the things that I have read in the Bible, and the positive affirmations I have recited. Today I want to add to my faith in You and my belief in myself. Today I want to gain and maintain self-control. I want to persevere even when mounting fear dumps doubt all over me. I want to be mindful and intentional in all that I do.

Father, let Your love that fills me constantly grow and reflect You. And let this love guide my feet, heart, mind, mouth, and my actions. I want to be effective, efficient, and productive in my personal life, in my career, as a student of Your son Jesus Christ, and in helping to build Your Kingdom. Let me see clearly near, far, and in between Father. In Your name I humbly pray. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 1.27.20

The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools.


Ecclesiastes 9:17

Reflection

Wisdom does not always have to be spoken aloud. It may not be expressed with words. In our desire to be right we can become so passionate and vocal, that we out talk and talk over others to make our point be heard. At some point, a reasonable sound level is surpassed, and we’re yelling and screaming trying to get someone to agree with us. Louder doesn’t mean right.

Remember—the loudest in the room could be hard of hearing or the biggest fool, but not necessarily the one to pay attention to. That person could be you. If that’s you, then get your hearing checked or reconsider allowing God to guide you and speak through you. Or deal with the fact that people will only listen to roughly 20 percent of what you’re saying, and retain less than 5 percent of that.

I tend to raise my voice and yell out of excitement and anger. The longer I speak, the louder I get. And if someone is speaking louder then for some reason, I choose to speak louder instead of at a lower tone. It’s as though I perceive their loudness to mean they’re hard of hearing, so I speak louder so they can hear me.

Before long, the volume level between two or more people is unbearable. Someone has to give. Someone has to intervene and say, “You guys are loud”. Then we all look dazed and amazed, either apologetic or in denial about our role in the shout down. And the conversation resumes at a more acceptable tone and volume level. Thank God for interventions!

I know that people tend to tune their hearing towards lower tones than higher ones. Yet, in the passionate exchange of trying to be heard and trying to be right— let’s be honest with ourselves—I and we, let logic and wisdom fall to the wayside, and the fool emerges. Even if what we’re saying is true, it doesn’t matter if the words are being launched like missiles to someone else.

We have to remember that communication is supposed to be a two-way thing. Perception is everything. It either enhances or destroys. We tend to either tune out those who are speaking loudly, or we choose to engage in a war of words. Either way, the intended message will never be fully heard.

Don’t let the fool in you prevail. Ask God to intervene. He may choose to silence you so that you listen more than you speak. He may choose to silence you so that you speak through your actions. He may guide you through speaking at lower and much reasonable levels. Whichever route taken, it’s 100 percent better than the route the fool in you will choose. I can guarantee that!

Prayer

Father, I ask for wisdom through Your guidance and Word. I desire the knowledge of experience, to apply what I’ve learned. May it benefit me and others. I seek to learn from the teachings of mentors and advisors. And from learning from others mistakes, failures and achievements.


I ask that You silence me when words are not necessary, and help me to control my tone when You expect me to speak up and speak out. When I speak, may others hear, see, and feel You. Guide me through wisdom and away from the stage of fools.

In Your name I forever and humbly pray. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 1.23.20

Scripture

For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.

Deuteronomy 30:16

Reflection

How simple is this command, yet how difficult we struggle with fulfilling our promise to God to love Him, obey Him, and do everything He asks of us?

Amazing isn’t it?

Can you imagine how many more blessings we are missing out on simply because we can’t follow this command fully?

Our choice to place conditions on our relationship with Him, restricts us from having the type of relationship that we need—and ironically, that we truly want. We’re walking around sabotaging the beauty and blessings in our lives and before they manifest.

Remember what I said yesterday about finding and connecting with that inner child, your lost child. It is that essence that frees you. It is in that mind space that you let go and let God. Without need to control or constantly question, out of doubt.

The Kingdom is inside of you. The peace you long for is already inside of you. God is not removed from you. He is not detached. He is not absent. He is within you and around you. Just reach out.

Prayer

Father, I thank You for Your patience and care as I walk and stumble, frequently, on this path that You have placed before me. I want to be obedient, keep Your commands, decrees, and laws.

I want to love You fully and unconditionally. I want to do right, live right, and be free in righteousness. I know this can only happen if I follow and obey You fully, completely, and at all times of my life.

Thank You Father for understanding my struggle, fear, frustration, and uncertainty. And never leaving my side as I work to be more like Your son— and more like the child You created me to be. Thank You for my countless blessings Father. Continue to bless me and enlarge my territory. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 1.22.20

Scripture

Do you not know?

Have you not heard?

The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

Isaiah 40:28

Reflection

If you are God’s child then why would you not act, behave, speak, think, and live accordingly? Why doubt yourself if God doesn’t doubt Himself? Why be fearful if God fears nothing?

Think back to your childhood before you had fears. Before you knew about the boogie man, the danger of heights, that all dogs bite, that there are poisonous plants, snakes and spiders. Before you knew that elevators, trains, vehicles, airplanes, helicopters and buses crash.

Think back to the time before you learned about judging people based on their color, sex, sexual orientation, religion, political views, etc. Think back to when you just saw another child and although they looked different than you in your mind there was no difference because they too were just a child.

Can you remember?

That was the time you were most loving and forgiving, fearless, most curious, and had a spirit that wanted to know all, see all, experience all, question all, and live each day to the fullest. You didn’t want a nap because you didn’t want to miss out on anything. You didn’t want to go to bed at night because you just knew something exciting happened when you were asleep.

Remember your life before you knew about sin, sickness, disease, and death? You were taught these things. They weren’t your reality. You were pure, unfiltered, and untouched. You were whole and complete, without question.

Where did that child go? Where did that purest form of God’s reflection go? Find that child inside of you. Find that fearless and loving child and walk through life with your head up, back straight, eyes and mind alert, and ready to accept any and all challenges.

I’ve come to this bold declaration that I shared with my family and a friend moments ago. A bold declaration that I speak to myself today and beyond…

There is no sin, sickness, disease, or death. Jesus proved that. Saying there is when he says there isn’t, is calling Jesus and God a liar. Don’t be fooled by your senses. Don’t let someone or something else’s inputs be your outputs.

Don’t let the unreal rule you. Don’t make it real. Don’t give it space to grow. Don’t give it a room in your home, your body, or your life. Don’t give it a millimeter to stand on. Call it out and kick it out! Let your inner child step in and declare there’s no room for anything that blocks you from expressing your fullness, from experiencing fullness, whenever and wherever.

Don’t invest in the lies. If it’s not of God then why give it power by speaking its name?

Call it for what it is—a lie!

The enemy feeds off of you believing and speaking the lie. It needs you to give in 100 percent so that the lie consumes you. When your focus is more on the lie than on God, you’re more inclined to believe that something or someone other than God is the solution to your problems.

Just like a manufactured picture or video can cause havoc in your life and on your reputation, once you prove its falsehood, the chaos ends. Once you prove the lie to be what it is, there is no power in it. How adamant would you be that the picture or video was a lie created to look like truth?

Then why aren’t you as adamant about the lies being told to you every single day? Even right now as you read this you hear the lies that say your circumstances, diagnoses, prognoses, are unique and different. The lies say your situation is real and can’t be fixed, at all or at least—not by God.

Call on your inner child, the one who knew no fear, spoke life and truth, and loved without question. Do you remember you from way back then? That’s the energy and the light that you need to tap into. God’s perfection. It’s still there. It’s still within you. You just need to break these mental bonds that have you believing the lies.

Align with God for perfect alignment in all ways and areas of your life. Don’t let circumstances dictate to you. Your joy and happiness come from God not from what happens to you.

When we give attention to the lies we unknowingly say there is more truth, power, and presence in the lies than in God.

And that’s a daggum lie.

But what we think about, invest in, and obsess over is exactly what we manifest.

Today WILL be a great day because it’s another day the Lord has made. Nobody and nothing can change that.

So screw the aches and pains. They’re a mirage. They’re temporary. Stand strong in God’s healing presence.

The bill collectors are calling. It’s only temporary. Declare God’s awareness, presence, and capabilities. Declare the solutions are within grasp. This is a temporary situation. Pray for clarity and discernment to see God working through you and others. Don’t panic and make the decisions for God. Do you remember the small child you were before you knew about crashes? Well, stop snatching the wheel. You’re gonna make things crash fast and hard.

Make decisions to be aligned with Him in perfect harmony!

Whenever something opposite of this creeps up trying to nestle in my life, I’m gonna boldly say these words. There’s no room for that nonsense in our lives. If it ain’t God’s it ain’t ours!

When you find your inner child let me know so he/she can meet up with mine and they can help to save the world together.

Prayer

Father, since You never grow tired or weary You are always making things happen, watching over Your children, and creating the inconceivable. While I may grow tired, You are the fuel and strength I need to get up each day. You are the fuel and strength that I need to work, study, exercise, and be a blessing to others.

Father-Mother, You are the light that destroys darkness, evil, sin, sickness, and disease. You are the love that brings people together to stand up against injustice everywhere—for all of Your children. To believe in You is to believe in myself. To doubt You is to doubt myself. So if I doubt myself then I am disrespecting You, because in turn I am also doubting You and Your power.

I can see clearly that I am in You and You are in me and we can never be separated or incomplete. I will continue to face my fears, laugh through my frustrations, and smile in the face of those who despise me, envy me, doubt me, and don’t truly know me.

I won’t invest one minute in the realm of negativity. I won’t hide from challenges. I won’t back up one foot to fear. I won’t tell myself and others the lies of sin sickness, disease, and death. I won’t participate in their falsehood. Because none of those actions are representative of You and Your greatness. Since I’m of You, I can’t and I won’t allow myself to live any other way but in and through Your greatness.

Thank You Father. Thank You for loving me enough to patiently wait for me to open my eyes, see, make the decision, and take the first step to living the right way—Your way! When I begin to doubt, slip into fear, I pray to You to remind me of this declaration that I speak. Remind me of my boldness and wholeness through You. You are my anchor. You are my everything. To You I give all thanks. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 1.21.20

Scripture

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”


Galatians 6:7-8

Reflection

What we think about we bring about. What we desire and seek, whether good or bad, will only bring forth good or bad seeds. If you have ulterior motives that are centered on self and pleasing the flesh—you will fall into darkness.

Don’t be deceived into believing that you can trick, mislead, or fool God. He is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. I only want good and pure seedlings, so it is my intent to only plant good and pure seeds. What are you planting and reaping?

Prayer

Father, knowing my heart as You do, You know my intentions, my thoughts, and my desires. Cleanse my heart so that it may be aligned with You, so that I might only sow goodness to please the Spirit and not the flesh. I never want to disappoint You Father. In Your name I pray. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 1.20.20

Scripture

All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the lord.


Proverbs 16:2

Reflection

If in your walk you have reason to question whether what you are doing is right in the eyes of the Lord then you already know the answer. If there’s a possibility of harm, negative disruption, and having to repent—stop what you’re doing right now.

You’re not walking in God’s light. That’s a flashlight aimed over you by the enemy. The enemy is giving you a fake accent light and you think it’s God.

Open your eyes and see that you are being led to the darkness. Stop right now before a domino set of dysfunction comes tumbling down in your life.

But if you care not to even weigh your decisions, if you casually do and say whatever you want without consideration to whether it is of God— then God will of course weigh things with and for you. I’m just trying to help you steer away from the drama that awaits you.

Prayer

Father, You know my heart and I pray that my motives are aligned with Your expectations and plans for me. If they are not, I pray that You swiftly and lovingly re-direct me so that I do not have to learn the hard way. Save me from the painstakingly and extremely long way. Help me to discern and be clear through Your clarity. In Your name I pray. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 1.17.20

Scripture

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

1 John 4:18

Reflection

Fear is absence of light and love. Fear is loneliness. Fear is not of God. God is perfect love and we are His reflections. Hence, we are perfect. So why do we fear?

We fear that which we can’t control or don’t think we can overcome. We fear missing out. We fear loss and lack. But let’s examine those concepts.

Control

Control is only possible through God. And He defines and determines what control is in our lives. We always get it backwards thinking the creations dictate to the Creator. If you want to control something, control yourself. Control those negative thoughts by not acting upon them. Control the words that come from your mouth. Control your behavior. Don’t blame the enemy for the choices that you made. Own up to your foolishness, realign with God, so the healing can begin.

Egomaniacs are often at the helm of systems of corruption, incarceration, trafficking, slavery, and mass destruction. They ignorantly believe that they have total control because they have helped to reinforce a system that forces others to be subservient to them. The reality is, they are the weak and fearful, not the people who they rule an iron fist over.

It is their inferiority complex and rampant insecurities that lure them into thinking that others are inferior and weak. They keep reciting that until they believe it. Then their insecurities need others to co-sign their beliefs, so they go into recruitment and alignment mode—seeking out others like them or those who will enable them.

They can’t face and overcome their own internal demons, so they take on the characteristics of those demons. They become what they fear. And they confuse that for strength and control.

That ignorance has the enemy’s name written all over it. That is also why the plan will always backfire at some point. The slaver becomes the enslaved. Funny thing, the enslaver is already spiritually and mentally enslaved and doesn’t even know it. God always has the final say.

FOMO is the fear of missing out. Rather than thinking you’re missing out, seek the clarity to see what God is preparing you for. You can’t be distracted by what others are doing, while God is lining things up for you to do greatness in His name. While you’re goose necking everyone else, you’re ignoring the opportunities and lessons in front of you. You are the reason you don’t have the blessings that you desire.

Loss and Lack

We will always live in a deficit if our minds are always obsessed over what we think we don’t have. Or always depressed over what we once had. Our behavior tells God that we don’t have faith in Him and His abilities to do anything and everything. How can you expect more when you don’t have vision? Those without vision will perish.

If you’re depressed over a loved one transitioning, do you fear that the loved one is not still alive—on another level of existence? Do you fear they aren’t in a good place? Or is it just the loneliness of them not being here? Where do you stand in your faith and commitment to God?

Each day you should be living out loud, celebrating the life and legacy of your loved one. You should be doing everything they envisioned and prayed for you. You should be having the experiences they dreamed of having themselves. Honor them through your life.

Fear feeds the enemy. You must starve the enemy.

Take back your life and live it aligned with God’s perfect plan.

Prayer

Father in You I find light, love, truth, joy, kindness, forgiveness, peace, tranquility, life, understanding, grace, and strength. Remove my fears Father. Help me to see that fear is false evidence appearing real. And that, is not love, and is not You. With fear there is darkness and with You there is only light. I seek Your light and truth Father. I want to live in Your peace. I want to be free. I give You all the glory. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 1.16.20

Scripture

But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

James 3:14-16

Reflection

When our eyes are on someone else and what they are doing, or what they have, we lose focus on what we are supposed to be doing— and where we’re supposed to be going. We are also losing ourselves in a dark pit of envy. When this envy grows into anger, resentment, and bitterness, if we aren’t careful to atone, we allow our light to be smother by the darkness. You don’t want a life where only darkness can be found. So don’t contribute to it.

When we align ourselves with people just to use them for their status and where they can take us, we are setting ourselves up for an eventual failure. This is selfish ambition. When we are ladder climbing with only one goal in mind—our own success, regardless of how it may affect others— this is selfish ambition.

We must free ourselves from envy and selfish ambition. We must turn away from the darkness and turn into God’s light. There is no life, truth, and life in that darkness. Only haunting energy, there to feed off of your light. We must resist. We can resist.

If you’re envying others, stop. Look around you, at what you already have, and be a great steward of what you have before you, so God can bless your good and faithful works.

If you’re currently ladder climbing off of the backs of other people, stop it. Make right your wrong. Make whole that which you’ve trampled over. Find the ways to serve and stop being self-serving. Reach back and downwards to lift willing hands towards their next victories.

Nothing good is earned alone.

Someone helped pave the way. Someone made introductions. Someone said yes while others said no. You may see your ambitious climb as the efforts of your labor. Actually, it is through your laziness, which God despises, that you used others to lighten your work load. Admit your wrongs, realign with God, and remain focused on obediently following His lead.

Prayer

Father, let my focus stay on You. Let my heart and mind be connected with You. I pray for humility. And freedom from envy and selfish ambition. Help me to discern my thoughts, emotions, and where my actions are leading me. I don’t want to do or say anything, or be anywhere that goes against what You want for me.

If it doesn’t build Your Kingdom and reflect Your goodness then I want no part of it. I only want peace in my life. And envy and selfish ambition will bring me nothing but pain, discomfort, and misery. I pray for a clean heart, and a mind free of worldly clutter. Father, help me to always see that what You have for me if for me, and what You have for others is for them. May I learn through acceptance, not pain, to be content with the blessings as they are delivered. Anything less, is an insult to You. In Your name I joyfully pray. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 1.15.20

Scripture

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”

Psalm 56:3

Reflection

In our fears we must look for God’s light and run to it. Let His presence soothe you, clear your mind, cleanse your heart, and restore you. Turn to God for comfort during troubling times no matter how big or small. They may seem unbearable or too difficult to you—but nothing is too big or too small for God to handle.

Know it. Believe it. Trust it. Embrace it. Today is your day to make the most of the moments or squander them. It’s your choice.

Prayer

Father, there are times, like right now, where I am fearful, doubtful, and confused. Instead of worrying, feeling hopeless or helpless, or questioning why this is happening to me—I will trust You. I know that You will never put me in a situation—or let me stay in one— where I am not protected, and that I can’t handle.

I have to believe and know that everything happens for a reason and from each circumstance comes a lesson to be learned.

So I will dry my tears, release my tensed shoulders, and breathe. Knowing that with, in, and through You there is a solution— and this lesson will be well-learned and short-lived.

When doubt creeps in, please release me from the bandage of fear. Help me to refocus on You. Help me to lean on You. I thank You Father for what You have already done, what You’re currently doing, and what You will do for me. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 1.14.20

Scripture

“Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.”

James 3:13

Reflection

The true indication of a good life is not one filled with material wealth and riches, but through the demonstration of contentment with God’s plan. It is expressed through our humility, in knowing that what we have today, may be taken tomorrow. The understanding that we should never take for granted the things that we have—whether spiritual, physical, or material.

The wisdom gained from past loss should humble us to appreciate the smallest things in life as much or more than the big things. Our humility makes us most grateful for breathing in life each day, and for whatever senses we have use of. From there the rest of our blessings are countless.

These things, my friends, are the indication of a good life.

Strive for the humility that comes from wisdom (from past lessons learned) and accept what God brings to you. For those are the greatest gifts we can ever receive. Be receptive. Embrace what He brings to you, however it is presented. It’s for your growth and His glory.

Let today be Take Everything in Stride Tuesday!

Prayer

Father I pray for clarity, discernment, humility and wisdom—that can only come from You. In Your name I pray. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 1.10.20

Scripture

“So justice is driven back, and righteousness stands at a distance; truth has stumbled in the streets, honesty cannot enter.”

Isaiah 59:14

Reflection

We are repeating a cycle. A lesson that even thousands of years later has not been learned.

Why is it so difficult for us to be just, righteous, truthful, and honest?

Why is it so difficult for us to treat others with love and respect no matter how much money they make or what their color, creed, religion, or beliefs?

Why do we struggle so much to live a life based on basic principles many of us teach children when they are young and most impressionable?

Why do we preach what we don’t practice? Why are we surprised that our world is being torn and fractured at the seams, and that we have so many issues?

Why can’t we see that the answer lies within us— and that the answer is God?

Prayer

Father, touch the heart of each person that we might seek and demand justice for all. That we might seek and actively live righteously. That we learn to seek, speak, and reveal the truth— 100 percent of the time, not just when it serves our purpose. And that honesty becomes the norm for all not just the few. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 1.9.20

Scripture

When all the Israelites saw the fire come down and the Lord’s splendor over the temple, they got on their knees with their faces downward toward the pavement. They worshiped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying, “Certainly he is good; certainly his loyal love endures!”

2 Chronicles 7:3

Reflection

We shouldn’t be waiting for something grandiose from God for us to see, accept, and proclaim His presence and loyalty to us. Every millisecond of the day God is demonstrating His love and grace.

Everyday He is balancing life as we know it. Everyday He is removing obstacles, healing us, and showing us the way. Everyday He presents us with opportunities to prove our love and loyalty to Him.

We keep asking more of Him than what we’re willing to give in return. We do this with our fellow man. How disrespectful do you think it is that the same standards and levels of treatment we give to man we toss at God as though He is our equal?

We need to stop treating God as though He is merely one of us. Start treating Him as the omnipotent supreme Father of all, who has no limitations and doesn’t require food, drink, shelter, clothing and at least 6 hours of sleep to survive.

We need Him to shine and thrive. He doesn’t need us to do what He created us to do. Think about that.

Prayer

Father, I want my mind and heart to rest with You at all times. I don’t need to see large displays of Your presence, greatness, and loyalty. Everyday that I wake and open my eyes, take a breath, and get out of bed is proof enough that You are here with me— and loyal.

I want to strengthen my devotion to You Father. I want to remove any and all doubt that You can’t or won’t resolve my issues, answer my prayers, or fulfill my needs.

I want to do my part so that Your work isn’t wasted. I don’t want to be like the lost children of Israel who challenged You long after their 40 years of walking in the wilderness. I want to demonstrate Your principles now Lord. I want to demonstrate Your truths today. I want to be open to be used by You however You see fit. I want to communicate with You in whatever way that You desire. Show me Father. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 1.8.20

Scripture

“And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

1 Corinthians 13:13

Reflection

Faith and hope without love is not possible. True love is not deceitful, prideful, arrogant, pushy, mean, manipulative, demanding, or careless. Love is not conditional or fickle. There is no ransom, bounty, security deposit, or credit check required. It is present without expectation and entitlement. It doesn’t turn on and off like a light switch. It doesn’t drip like a faucet.

God said that He is the great “I Am”. God is all-in-all. Love is boldly an “Is”. God is love and love is God. All-encompassing. Not a buffet. It’s all or nothing.

Is. Am. Always.

Jesus expressed his love towards people that religious leaders turned away, shunned, punished, and chastised. Jesus showed us how God loves us, and how we’re to love ourselves and each other. It’s not a popularity contest. It’s about being in perfect alignment with God. It’s about discovering and reclaiming our identities. That which we have confused, distorted, or misplaced in this worldly chaos. The true expression of who we are then leaves no doubt as to Whom we belong.

Love should fill your cup and run over the sides. When you walk, it should be in love. In your eyes, from your heart, and out of your mouth people should see, feel, and hear God’s love.

There are no excuses for not being loving— even in pain. Even if you are removing people from your life that you know don’t belong— do so in a loving way. Or they will spend their every waking moment trying to tear you down and turn your love to fear and hate.

Love God, wholly and truly. Love yourself without question. Then be open to love others— and to receive their love. If you don’t love God and yourself then there is no faith or hope to love anyone else. You then doubt the level and intensity of their love.

If you don’t love God and yourself fully then you don’t know how to identify true love. You instead confuse lust, infatuation, and obsession with love. You hear and say the words, but you don’t truly understand the meaning and expression of genuine love.

Not knowing love means settling for and accepting mediocrity— which is not of God. Not knowing love means settling for a superficial model that will never come close to the real thing. Let today be your Superficial-Free day! Live out loud in love. Be the ‘Is’ and boldly represent the one and only, ‘I Am’.

Prayer

Father, fill me with Your love. I pray that my faith in You and in humankind is more than enough. If not, I pray for more faith. I pray for freedom from fear and doubt that prevents me from believing in You and surrendering myself to you 100 percent. I pray for hope restored. That I might never lose it.

With Your love, I can conquer hate, fear, pride, ego, vanity, evil, sin, sickness, disease, and death. With Your love, I can overcome any negativity that comes my way. With Your love, I can see through the lies and deceitful ways of others. With Your love, I can lovingly speak the truth.

With Your love, I am complete and have the strength and conviction to be content alone. Without the comfort of man’s companionship. For I am never alone. You are my home, Father. You are my comforter.

Your son is my savior and guide. He is the perfect example of how to live, love, and express Your principles.

Fill me Father. I open my heart. Giving You the glory. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 1.7.20

Scripture

People lie to one another; they flatter and deceive. May the Lord cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that boasts!

Psalm 12:2-3

Reflection

There is no love in deception. God is not part of it, so that means the devil is all in it.

The first lie is the one we tell ourselves.

There are careers with a foundation built on the art of telling lies. In the process of negotiation some people tend to lean more on deception than transparency.

In relationships, some people are so greedy, self-centered, and self-absorbed that they will lie to gain or maintain leverage against the person they claim to respect and love. Our internal damage causes a domino effect of external damage. People we don’t even know become collateral damage.

People lie because we tell ourselves the biggest lie, “It’s not really hurting anyone”. People lie to hide truths we know that others would scoff at and walk away from. People lie to keep from being ‘real’. People lie because we want ‘it all’ and we are not satisfied or content being ‘full’ on what God provides us.

Because of lies, marriages and other relationships break up, families fall apart, and businesses fail. Because of lies, countries go to war, people are murdered, the innocent are attacked, and the world cries out in pain.

When will we end the madness that we create and perpetuate?

When will we be the true ambassadors of God so many of us claim to be? When will we stop trying to imitate other flawed men and women and begin to imitate the wayshower— Jesus Christ. He is the true global changer.

We will not be whole until we start living a wholesome life. We will not be free until we free ourselves from lies, deceit, greed, arrogance, selfishness, and self-centeredness. We can only be wholesome and free in God. Embraced by God. Which means we must surrender to Him. Let go of what you think, hear, see, and feel. Release it all to Him. He is Truth. He is the lie detector. He knows fact from fiction.

Only through Him can you see the cleverly manufactured smoke and mirrors designed by the enemy.

We will not stop feeling pain until we stop subjecting others to our own pain. We can only do that when we stop subjecting ourselves to pain. We keep wallowing in self-pity, fear, jealousy, envy, and regret.

We keep obsessing over the wrongs of the past instead of seeking to be what is right. Both now and in the future. We can’t change what happened in the past. We can make intentional steps to not repeat the past. We can tap into God for the vision to see the tricks and trappings of the enemy. We can use clarity and discernment to avoid those tricks and traps.

What we don’t realize is that through our lies and self-absorption we’re playing into the hands of the enemy.

Satan wants us to be in pain, feel defeated, be depressed, lie, betray, and steal. Satan wants us sick, diseased, and dying slow and painful deaths. It wants us to believe and embrace a false reality of sin, disease, and death. Satan wants us to cheat, divorce, break up, destroy our lives and our families. Satan wants us to believe that we’re alone, lost, and lacking.

It wants us to believe that God isn’t blessing us, that He’s punishing us.

It gets excited when you give into temptation. It almost reveals itself when it sees you giving in to that man, woman, or object that God has told You to steer clear of. It whispers to you in a way that convinces you it’s God’s voice. It tells you to answer that phone call, respond to that IM, text or email, accept the gift, open your door, knock on their door. You hear the voice that says, “What’s the big deal? You have self control. Nothing will happen. Go ahead, do it.” Then it laughs uncontrollably when you make the decisions that causes you and others the greatest of harm.

Satan can only enter when you let it in. You have to open yourself up and let it come inside. You have to invite it in your home, relationship, and business. Just like the vampires we love to watch on television and in movies. You think you’re being entertained by the actors. The writer of the story is trying to warn you. Satan is in plain sight. Your clarity and discernment just have clouded lenses.

We lack a sense of identity and we cling to anything and everything we think will define us. Sadly, the enemy is always within arms reach.

Satan knows your deepest desires and fears. It plays on it. Yet you do nothing to protect yourself. Your idle mind is its playground.

It is giddy when you yearn for the things God says “no” to. Because it will do everything to convince you that you can have what you desire and that what you desire is good for you, even though God says otherwise. Satan tells you that God just doesn’t want you to have and experience that which makes you more equal to God. Which is a blatant lie. Just like the lie told to Eve then Adam.

The ‘snake’ in the garden manifests itself in different forms.

God wants you to have and experience everything that places you in perfect alignment with Him. Satan will stop at nothing to prevent that.

Satan is thrilled when we are fighting and at war with each other. He craves the brutality and vileness, the name-calling, and victimization of others.

Satan takes great pleasure in our misery because if we’re miserable then we aren’t praising God. And he knows that at some point, someone will give to the pressure and begin to believe that God is not real. Because why would God allow bad things to happen to good people? And once you begin to embrace that thinking and belief system, you unknowingly begin to serve Satan. Which is exactly what it told God would happen.

We will not feel and receive true love until we give freely of our love to God. When we open ourselves to loving and being loved by God, we will begin to love ourselves. Only then can we truly love and be loved by others. Don’t confuse sex and intimacy with the richness and wholeness of love. Love is far more encompassing.

You can’t pour into others what you don’t possess. Open yourself up so God can pour into you and you can pay it forward.

Today, why not focus on telling, sharing, and being the truth. And doing so with and in love. Choose to not find comfort in being a liar. Choose to not use moments of truth telling to intentionally bring harm to others. Vileness is not God. Ask yourself if your words and actions serve God or satan.

Remember even little bitty white lies are still lies. They can grow into huge irreparable lies. All of which waters satan’s garden, not God’s.

Let today be your Focus Day. To focus on lovingly telling the truth and the whole truth to every person you encounter. Doing your part to bring us closer to God and farther away from the enemy’s grasp. Make it a great day!

Prayer

Father, fill me with Your truth and wisdom. That I might tell the truth even if it would hurt the feelings of another or cause my relationship with them to end. By telling one lie I must then cover up that lie with more—endlessly. Let my truth-telling be helpful, healing, and a step towards You.

Let me also see through those who would flatter me to crave their words more than Your Word. Let me ignore the boaster who is self-centered, that I may focus on being God-centered. Father keep me aware of those who would lie to me for selfish gains or just because they can.

Fill me with your love so I can lovingly walk away from those who would influence me to follow them and not you. Those who would casually lie to me and never regret one moment. And those who are not centered in Your wholeness. If it’s not for and about You, then I want no part of it.

I pray to be freed of unhealthy bonds. Humbly I ask this of You Father. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 1.6.20

Hello Breaking Bread family! Before we jump into today’s message, I want to give a shout out. Happy birthday to my aunt Debborah. I love you Debbie!!!!

“Many people profess their loyalty, but a faithful person – who can find?”

Proverbs 20:6

Reflection

To require loyalty and faithfulness in others requires the same in return. If you are not loyal and faithful then how can you expect it from others?

God is and has always been faithful and loyal to us, even though we teeter totter from being faithful and doubtful on a consistent basis. We can’t ask from man what we can’t give to God. Heck, we can’t even be faithful and loyal to ourselves. We lack the discipline and stickability to achieve goals, create healthy habits, and be greater.

Let us give of ourselves to our heavenly Father that we might reap the blessings. May one of those blessings be loyal and faithful friends and family.

Prayer

Father, I pray for internal peace, for clarity, and for strength to endure. I pray that in my increasing faithfulness there will be resolve of issues that I encounter, as well as those still lingering. I pray that in my faithfulness only the faithful will remain beside me.

Help me to discern truth from fiction. I don’t want to be misled. I don’t want to be distracted. I need to be focused on You and what You have called on me to do. I know that the enemy thrives on chaos and confusion. Anything and anyone not aligned with what You have planned for me, I ask that You lovingly realign, redirect, readjust them.

You are my Father. Your son is my shepherd and I loyally will follow as your sheep. Humbly I submit myself to you. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 1.3.20

Scripture

“When she told the man of God what had happened, he said to her, “Now sell the olive oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on what is left over.””

II Kings 4:7

Reflection

How amazing is that? How many of us are sitting on blessings and don’t even know it?

I believe I shared this story of Elisha and the widow in my daily message once before. But with the whole world feeling this financial crunch— I’m sure you would agree that it is both appropriate and applicable to many people.

God sent Elisha as His ambassador. In his journeys he met this widow who looked around and saw no money and no resources at her disposal. Yet she was a debtor feeling the pressure from those she owed money. She did not clearly see the potential that was within her home and within herself— but Elisha did. He had her fill jars and bottles with of all things—olive oil. Then he turned her into an entrepreneur— having her to sell the oil.

Look around and consider the possibilities. What are you not seeing? What opportunities are there but you aren’t seizing? What resources do you have at your disposal but you haven’t realized their use or aren’t quite sure how to use them? What things do you have in your home, garage, storage unit, shed, attic, basement, or in your car—that you could sell?

Pray for God to reveal these truths to you. To help you see and take use of those resources and tools before you. Pray for wisdom, clarity and strength during this time. Have faith that God is with you, will never leave you, and will never allow you to go through something that He feels you can’t handle. Trust and believe! Make this day your best!

Prayer

Father, help me to see how I can take even the smallest of what I possess to not only pay my debts but survive comfortably with the remaining portion.

Father, help those that I owe a debt to be more patient, understanding and empathic, as You show me how to transform my life.

Give me the patience and focus to see how to turn the ‘olive oil’ into a financial blessing. Father I ask for strength and clarity during this time. I humbly pray to you today. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 1.2.20

Scripture

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Psalm 51:10

Reflection

You know if you have been walking with a clean heart or one filled with negative tendencies influenced by mortal mind— the enemy. You know if you have been doing right by the Lord. Or if you have been more concerned with having things your way. You know if you have been negative, unloving, deceitful, misleading, manipulative, conniving, or untrustworthy. Just as you know if you have been attracting drama to your life.

You either want a joy-filled life or a complicated and miserable one— which do you choose? There is no other way to bliss than through God. There is no other solution than to surrender.

Get your spirit and heart right by seeking out God. Ask for a renewed life. Look deep inside and ask yourself if this is the way you want to live your life forever, or do you want better?

It’s about choice. We choose to live a certain way, treat ourselves and others a certain way. We choose what we consume. We choose to entertain thoughts and turn them into actions. We even choose to be entitled, expecting God to make things right in our lives, when we haven’t made any positive strides to changing our life for the better.

We give in to temptation by the enemy, then blame the enemy for the choice we made. You have options. Your discernment is your responsibility. Your choices are your responsibility.

Do you believe that God can provide your needs? Do you believe He can change your thinking and how you feel? Do you believe He can heal you from your pain? Are you ready to stop having a conditional relationship with God? Are you ready to live a life of empowerment and not entitlement? Are you ready to live on purpose? Then ask, without doubt or worry, and watch God work in and through you.

Prayer

Father, I want my heart, mind, and spirit to be right by You. Clean my heart of the clutter I created. Pull out the pain, hurt, anger, envy, and jealousy. Help me to see and embrace the lessons, and move forward.

Remove from me the desire to want what I don’t need simply so I can feel good for short bursts of time. Renew my spirit so that I may walk like Your son Jesus. Tune my hearing to hear You clearly, above all others. I want to always discern and follow Your voice. Turn me towards Your light Father.

No more lies, games, manipulation, fear, hate, and confusion. Let me see Your greatness and let that guide me where I need to be daily. Leave what I did and what I experienced yesterday in the past. Let my yesterdays and yesteryears be my past, and let me walk with my head high in the present. That I may see a glorious future. In Your name I humbly pray. Amen.
