Breaking Bread For 3.31.20

Scripture

To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy—to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.

Jude 1:24-25

Reflection

God is always there and always provides a way to help us whenever we need it, before we need it. We are not to analyze the why, what, where, when, and how— but be present in the ‘is’ of our life. Be grateful for those loving people in your life who are constantly encouraging and uplifting you in prayer and praise.

Thank God for those people who want nothing from you but to see you be the best expression of God’s love. Be thankful for your life and all you have experienced, and for what is yet to come. What more can you ask for?

Prayer

Father, there are times when I am so self-consumed that I obviously must forget Your power, greatness, and omnipresence. I forget that when I am stressed out and fearful that You are watching and listening to me as I cry out.

There are moments when I forget that I’m not alone, that I’m not lost, and that there is a solution to every problem and a straight pathway no matter which way I turn—and You provide the means to all that I need.

Through Your son, Father, You have provided the perfect example of how to deal with sickness, sin, strife, fear, pain, doubt, anger, envy, ridicule, and temptation. You provided Your children with a life manual for us to read, study, practice, know, and live by. Father You have placed angels to watch over me, to steer me out of harm, to magnify Your glory. Lord You have placed people in my life to grab my hand when I need a lift after stumbling, embrace me when I need to feel Your warmth, push me when I drag behind, and share words of wisdom when I need encouragement.

Thank You Father. Amen.

Love always,

Natasha

Breaking Bread For 3.27.20

Scripture

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38-39

Reflection

If nothing can keep you away from God, separate you from his care and love, or take His place in your life— then why do you go everywhere but directly to Him for all of your needs, and to give all of your thanks? There is and are no substitutes for God. All counseling and therapy should begin and end with your loving conversations with Him. There are no human gatekeepers or interpreters. Jesus is the wayshower and the shepherd, and God is all in all, alpha and omega, the center and the exterior.

We are quick to turn to man to solve our problems, heal our inflictions, and to make sense of the unknown or confusing. Why, when all answers, healing, knowledge and wisdom come from our Heavenly Father? Why seek outside secondary sources when you have a direct link to the main source? Why try to quench your thirst from a small fissure that trickles water, when you can go directly to the source that will supply you with all of the water you will ever need?

No disrespect to therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and the like, who go to school 6-12 years and study human behavior, emotion, and the human mind. But who is truly the ultimate authority on our brains, hearts, emotions, and behavior? God!

It is understandable if you have a need for human contact and camaraderie, and a need to hear a voice speak clearly to you (that you can record and play back) to affirm, confirm, or redirect your thinking. But shouldn’t your beginning, middle, and end come from God?

Specialists in these areas are trained to diagnose (to the best of their ability) and to provide you with tools and devices to address your internal mental concerns, and they attempt to have you solve your issues as much as possible on your own as you can.

While others recruit assistance from prescribed drugs to alter your mind to succumb and behave ‘appropriately’. We are in a world that is quick to medicate others and self-medicate ourselves. We pop pills and drink concoctions for everything and anything, because we want a quick fix to our problems without really looking at the complete picture.

Where is God in all of this? If you leave Him out then you restrict your ability to heal and grow timely and properly.

The only access to your mind should come from God, the Creator, King, and ultimate authority on Mind, Spirit, Soul, Love, Life, and Truth. When you give access freely to others without God granting permission, then you are saying you trust man more than our Father. You then place the barrier up between yourself and God. You tell Him that you don’t think He can handle what you’re going through, or that He can’t get it resolved in the time you want it.

Pray to Him to show you the way, to put the right people and counselors before you, to heal you from all inflictions, and to release you from bondage. Your mind can only truly be tapped and untapped by His Mind. Your healing can only come from Him. Your peace can only grow from within, through His presence.

Ask Him for the answer. Get right with Him. Build and nurture your relationship with Him. Stop trying to find shortcuts and quick fixes. Stop trying to put band aids on deep wounds. Align with God.

Prayer

Father, I am forever grateful for Your love, for our relationship, and my relationship with Your son Jesus. Every day on my walk I am receptive to the moments that I can connect to You and him. I embrace and am appreciative for the long talks, and the opportunities that You afford me. There is no substance, presence, being, or thing that can ever keep us apart. Not even fear can keep us apart, because You always penetrate that veil and show me the way to regain strength and courage. For these things and more I say thank You and I love You Father. Amen.

Lovingly,

Natasha

Breaking Bread For 3.26.20

Scripture

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

Reflection

Every item of clothing, every award, every paycheck, every commission, every piece of furniture, every car, appliance and accessory—was not earned by us—but rather given to us by God.

He equips us with the knowledge and wisdom to do our small part. Being equipped is a blessing from Him. The pulling of strings to make things happen on our behalf is also done by God.

The child you birthed or adopted is God’s gift to you. The positive change in your health and medical history, is His loving grace. The accident you avoided, the one that left you uninjured, or the one you recovered from—all are instances of God’s grace. The deal you closed or the promotion you received, were triggered by God. Getting out of debt, purchasing your car or home—that’s God. The ability to love and be loved—yep, that’s all because of God.

It is His grace not our actions or talents that bless us. Remember that and thank Him!

Prayer

Father, thank You for this day, days past, and for every day that my future holds. Thank You for the gifts You have granted me, and for the blessings that only You can provide. I understand that it is not my doing but Yours, through grace, that I possess and have experienced all that I have.

Each day I work to pull away my layers of fear, anger, bitterness, and pain so that I might replace them with layers of faith in You Lord. I’m grateful for Your patience. I’m grateful for each molding lesson that You are teaching me. Show me the way Father. To You I give all glory forever. Amen.

Love,

Natasha

Breaking Bread for 3.25.20

Scripture

Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him. Has not Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps the law. Why are you trying to kill me?”

On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

John 7:17-19, 37-39

Reflection

When you place God first in your life then your eyes are always opened, and you are never blind to the truth.

When you place God first in your life and keep your promise to follow Jesus, you are never lost or confused.

When you place God first in your life you will not walk in fear, but through it.

When you place God first in your life you will not make decisions before praying to Him first to show you the answer, the path, and the way.

When you place God first in your life it’s never about you and always about Him.

When you place God first in your life you give him the credit and the glory for everything positive that you do and that comes to you.

When you place God first in your life you are grateful for every thing, every person, every element of your life, and you never take it for granted or take on the attitude that you could care less if you have it or not, or walk in fear that someone other than Him can take those things from you.

When you place God first in your life then you know that no one can come between you and Him, or between you and His son Jesus.

When you place God first in your life you only surrender to Him and you only surrender to change by Him.

When you place God first in your life you learn to listen, obey, and follow Him without question or defiance. You do so because you believe and you know Him, and that in His Truth you are free.

Stop being self-centered and learn to be God-centered!

I love you all so very much! May God continue to bless you and keep you!

Prayer

Father, thank You for Your grace. Thank You for walking before me in every situation. Thank You for sending Your son to show Your children the way. Thank You for keeping him with us so that You always feel close.

Father let every decision I make, every word that I speak, every thought that I embrace, come from You. Always walk before me Lord; always bring the peace that I seek in every situation; always remove the blinders from my eyes and the eyes of all those I encounter; and always touch our hearts so that we can feel not just for and about ourselves but for others—even those we don’t know.

Touch my heart so that it doesn’t harden, because I never want to reach a point where I no longer care about hurting or neglecting myself or other people. Never let me think that I accomplish anything without Your loving grace and will. Help me to not be selfish, but rather mold me to be selfless. A giver not a taker.

Turn me from using Your name in vain. Never let me use Your name as a declaration of power over others. If I’m hardheaded, hold me in my place, that I may be stagnant if necessary, Father, so that I don’t enter or leave a situation without it first being Your command to do so. Lord may all things be by Your will and not mine. In Your name and in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Love,

Natasha

Breaking Bread for 3.24.20

Scripture

Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.

Jude 1:2

Reflection

We go through ups and downs. We try desperately to swim through troubled waters. We must face people who can sometimes be selfish, bitter, cold, mean, unfair, and unkind. We must endure situations that seems to tear away at us.

God never intends for us to be in situations that don’t make us stronger, wiser, braver, and more focused on Him for guidance. It is when we try to make up new rules, re-arrange and re-write His rules, and participate in His plan only when we see fit, do we feel the friction that is caused from us going against His grain.

If you truly want mercy, peace and love then you must freely give it to others. You must pray that people receive them even when they are not showing you mercy, dealing with you peacefully, or embracing you and reflecting God’s love. We must show mercy, work to bring peace while walking in it, and love people wholly for who they are as God’s children— and not for who you want them to be.

There is no human below or above us; we reign over no one except ourselves. We are to worship no one other than God. We are His servants and He is our master. Jesus is our Savior and the example we are to follow, and God is our heavenly Father-Mother who reigns supremely over all. We have difficulties controlling ourselves and our own behavior, so who are we to try to control and manipulate others?

Once we learn to let go and let God handle things, situations, and people— we will stop trying to do His job and just focus on doing our job. We must walk the walk and not merely talk the talk. We must stop placing labels on ourselves and others and believing that these labels somehow have meaning, relevance, and importance— because they don’t mean a thing to God—so they should not mean anything to us. When you have a genuine relationship with Jesus and our Father then you know this and you live your life accordingly.

Prayer

Father, I pray for Your continued mercy, and for the ability to show and give mercy to others. I pray for Your peace and love to fill me so that when I am faced with situations that are troubling I can be filled with a calm that quiets my restlessness, and allows me to be more receptive to You and less bothered by what someone else does, says, or fails to do or say.

Father, when I am faced with people who are self-consumed and selfish let Your love and peace bring a smile to my face. Let me find the peace within to walk away without conflict, and without disappointing You. Not everyone sees themselves as others do and because of that they are less willing to change their ways to be more like Your son, Jesus Christ.

I want to be more like Jesus, Father, and I know that the only way this is possible is to obey You at all times, doing what You ask of me and not making my own decisions because I feel uncomfortable. That discomfort is the molding process I must undergo to be transformed into the perfect example of You. So I humbly accept what I must in order to become what I am destined to be. In Your name I pray. Amen.

Have an incredible day. Seek and show mercy, peace, and love.

Love,

Natasha

Breaking Bread for 3.23.20

Scripture

Let your character [your moral essence, your inner nature] be free from the love of money [shun greed—be financially ethical], being content with what you have; for He has said, “I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!”

So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently say, “The Lord is my Helper [in time of need], I will not be afraid. What will man do to me ?”

Hebrews 13:5‭-‬6 AMP

Reflection

Things may come your way, especially during the times when you feel like you can’t handle one more issue— but trust and know that God is there for you, guiding and protecting you, and showing you the way through paths of fear, lies, despair, heartache, turmoil, and inconvenience.

If the words in today’s prayer, shared below, don’t resemble your current state of mind, or spiritual alignment with God, say them anyway. Speak these words slowly and repeatedly until they resonate in you, until you feel a shift in your energy, until there is a “spark” within you, until you can visualize yourself as I’ve described in the prayer.

Prayer

Father God, thank You for bringing me back to that place of peace and clarity. Thank You for never failing, and never letting me down. I will not be discouraged by what I see or don’t see. I will go where you say go and follow as You lead.

I know You’re my helper and You will make my crooked places straight. I know that the strength of the wicked is being cut off and the strength of the righteous will endure. I know that the enemy is always plotting, scheming, and attacking. I pray for the courage, strength, and resolve to remain aligned and obedient to You. In Jesus’ name I pray to and praise You. Amen.

Love,

Breaking Bread for 3.20.20

Scripture

“pray continually”

1 Thessalonians 5:17

Reflection

Every moment of every day just pray. It doesn’t have to be extensive or about you. Just regular conversation, like you would a parent, friend, or mentor.

When you see someone doing something wrong, say, “Father forgive them”. When you see someone doing right, say, “Father continue to bless them,” and when you are faced with crippling fear, say, “Father strengthen me.”

Sometimes long, drawn out prayers are the workings of a person who carries a burden they aren’t sure even God can conquer by their perceived deadline.

Other times a person feels obligated to address every issue or blessing, as though God is unaware of what that person has gone through or is going through. It oftentimes is more for their reassurance and re-commitment than anything.

And then there are some people who are mesmerized by their own voice, so they talk until they get tired, can’t think of anything else to say—or someone lovingly gets them to cease.

We have experienced this at the blessing of meals. Leave it to them, our hot food would become cold, our cold food would grow warm, and all of it would be stale. 😄

I say this not to discourage you from prayer, or even saying lengthy ones— but rather to let you know that God does not shun you for the length of your prayers—He’s only concerned with the authenticity and sincerity of the prayer. He wants us to come to Him for all things, and be grateful for all that we have. He wants to see us grow and change, and be better servants in His Kingdom. He’s not concerned with who can poetically pray the ‘best’ and for the longest.

So you may not be ‘seasoned’ at praying, but you have experienced a great deal of ups and downs that you can be grateful for, and that you can ask for forgiveness and guidance to see you through. Just remember to pray continually!

Prayer

Father, I am grateful for another day; grateful for Your love and care; grateful for Your Word; and for Your mercy. Fill me Lord with Your presence so that I am always present and receptive to the bounty of gifts that You share with me each millisecond of the day. Thank You for this wonderful relationship that we have, where I can come to You and speak with You about any and all things, no matter how big or small. I don’t need a translator or interpreter, mediator or other third person to explain to me Your unwavering love. I don’t need a go-between to talk to You. All I have to do is pray and I know that You hear me. Thank You Father. In Your name I pray, in Jesus’s steps will I follow. Praising You always. Amen.

Love your sister in Christ,

Breaking Bread for 3.19.20

Scripture

…’Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. You will not have to fight this battle…. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.’”

2 Chronicles 20:15, 17

Reflection

Sometimes we’re too self-centered and self-consumed to realize that some battles are not meant for us to fight, for in our faith and patience God’s promise conquers our enemy—whether it be imagined or real.

Pray to God to always reveal what you need to see and do, and that you can discern His revelations and act accordingly. Pray to God that you will always be ready for and obedient to His command.

Be thankful for each new day. Be thankful for the blessings that you didn’t see coming and the ones you didn’t know were present.

Prayer

Father, I pray to You for foresight, discernment, strength, courage, wisdom, common sense, and patience—to persevere and overcome all obstacles. I know that things both big and small You can handle. I also know that You will always equip me with the tools that I need to succeed.

I thank You Lord for all my past, current, and future victories. I thank You for protecting my heart from being crushed by the hurtful things people say and do to me. I thank You for helping me to see my wrong so that I strive to do right, do better, and atone. I love You Father. Thank You for loving me. Amen.

Love,

Breaking Bread for 3.18.20

Scripture

“Why do you call Me good? ” Jesus asked him. “No one is good but One — God.

Mark 10:18 HCSB

Reflection

We tend to focus all of our attention and accolades towards God’s creations rather than give Him the glory 100 percent of the time. Jesus put people in check about this constantly, and as the man who ran up to him calling him “Good Teacher” found out, Jesus once again put things into perspective that he was not to be regarded as good, but that God being good, was the only source to be identified in that light.

That is beyond deep.

Jesus is seen as the savior for mankind, the son of God, the wayshower, but even as God’s perfect creation Jesus never walked around touting and parading his role. Heck, he wouldn’t even consider answering to being called “Good”.

Look at us today. Some people would go beyond calling themselves good, they would say they’re exceptional. They would answer to it.

Jesus knew his place and humbly served in his role. He never took his title and position the way many people would today, if given the opportunity. Even when he healed people he told them to tell no one (even though he knew they would be blabbermouths) but he just wanted to help, save, heal, and bless others through God’s power—and he knew he had limited time to do these things.

That is a humble servant. Jesus understood that the source of all is the Father, and that he was to show people the way to Him, not try to get the attention or accolades. He knew he had to be last to be first—the principle he taught his disciples when they argued over who was the best.

Consider the source of all that you have. Look at everything you have achieved in life, inventory all of your possessions, and then honestly answer this question—who really gets the credit for all that you have and all that you are?

Prayer

All that I need comes from You. You are all that I need Lord. No human, animal, spirit, thing, or object can substitute You. Keep my eyes on You Father. In Jesus’ name I humbly pray. Amen.

Love always,

Natasha

Breaking Bread for 3.17.20

Scripture

God is our refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble.

Psalms 46:1 HCSB

Reflection

We are to live in the world but not be of the world. Protect your mind and soul from worldly and dark influences that could lead you astray. Protect yourself from music, movies, images, pictures, symbols, books, and other sources that are not reflections of God.

Listen to the words of songs you sing. Pay close attention to the images and symbols you wear or place in your home. Be cautious of how and where you spend and invest your money. Do your research. Words are powerful. Thoughts are things, as someone I know often says. Our minds are extremely powerful.

Not everyone out there has the best intentions. There are a lot of wolves in sheep clothing. Pray for discernment, and that God always protects you on your journey.

Prayer

Father protect me. Protect my mind, heart, spirit, and soul. Protect me from attacks of all kinds. Guide me away from situations that could cause me harm. Block negative messaging and influences, and help me to not invest in these things. Strengthen my discernment, to see and know what comes from You versus the enemy. I thank You for being my rock, shelter, and protector. I love You Father. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 3.16.20

Scripture

Then they came to Capernaum. When He was in the house, He asked them, “What were you arguing about on the way? ” But they were silent, because on the way they had been arguing with one another about who was the greatest. Sitting down, He called the Twelve and said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.

Mark 9:33-35 HCSB

Reflection

The only title and role you should be concerned with is that of servant. I truly believe that people get caught up in titles, roles, pecking order, seniority, the rungs of ladders they are on, and so on and so forth.

Instead of life being about you and your feelings, and sense of entitlement—let it be about how you can be of service to God and a help for others. How can you be a team player not an obstacle? How can you bring value rather than drama? How can you contribute rather than hinder? Instead of shutting down how can you work to do your part to make things work?

In everything thing that we do and with all job descriptions there’s a responsibility that we seem to overlook or forget, the part that says, “…and duties as assigned…” What I mean by that is that our job in life or even with a company is never confined to just a set amount of tasks.

As new things pop up we must adjust and accept more responsibilities or simply different ones. People struggle with change, we claim we want it but when it comes we say, “That’s not what I signed up for…” Or “That’s not in my job description!” Are you serious? If you are not open to change and all that comes with it don’t place yourself in situations and roles where acceptance of change is necessary.

If you want a promotion, raise, to be married, have kids, new car or house, to own a business—whatever it is—you either must accept that things will eventually come as “duties as assigned” and you must take the reigns and march forward—or don’t accept the position at all. That means don’t strive forward for things that require ownership, struggle, more work, persistence, pain, longer hours, more patience, and having to do way more than you ever expected.

People truly think life is about them. That is why we struggle so much. This existence and our experiences are all about God. Ponder that and then share your thoughts.

God bless you all!

Prayer

Father, let me always be humbled to remember my place as a servant. Let me always lift others up without concern with how I’m placed in the “mix” of things. Let me serve with love even in frustration. Let me serve with kindness and patience even with the most difficult of people. Let me never react to life but respond as You direct me. Open my ears to listen and hear. Open my eyes to see and have vision. Open my mouth to share wisdom but close it before I utter anything unloving or ignorant. Warm my heart to be receptive.

Bless me with discernment Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 3.13.20

Scripture

There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord.

Proverbs 21:30

Reflection

No matter what someone does, God will always prevail. No president, king, queen, prime minister, imperial leader, dictator, or anyone else. The enemy can’t overpower our God. The creations are limited to the designs and parameters given by their Creator.

So stand tall in victory, for God can and will make a way out of no way. Don’t be discouraged by what you see. Don’t doubt simply because you can’t see something. If God says it’s there, it’s there. If God says it’s coming, then you can guarantee it’s coming.

He can lead you out of valleys and over the steepest of mountains. Do you trust and believe? Then walk tall in confidence.

Prayer

Father, I will follow Your plan for my life. There is nothing and no one greater than You. So there is nothing and no one I should fear derailing Your plan. My efforts and disobedience can never overpower Your plan. I just painfully delay, through my foolishness, what was coming to me. But even my interference comes at no surprise to You. You already knew what I would do and planned for it.

All that I have ever earned was through Your will and loving grace. I thank You Father. Thank You for loving me as only You can. I praise You and give you all of the glory, in Jesus’s name. Amen.

Scripture

He also said to them, “Is a lamp brought in to be put under a basket or under a bed? Isn’t it to be put on a lampstand? For nothing is concealed except to be revealed, and nothing hidden except to come to light.

Mark 4:21-22 HCSB

Reflection

God is our light. Follow the light and all Truth is revealed. Everything done in the dark comes to light, for error cannot hide from Truth, just as nothing can hide from God. Open your eyes.

Prayer

Father, may I always see, even when my eyes are shut. Always reveal the truth to me at the level that You know I can handle, and when You see fit. As I get stronger I realize that my yoke adjusts, but never too light where I don’t understand hard work, and never too heavy where I can’t bear another moment.

Help me to understand and learn that my missteps and failings due to ego, pride, greed, and operating out of lack, will always weigh me down because I’m not putting my trust in You. Thank You Lord for always keeping me balanced and directing my path. I promise to listen for that small voice, knowing that You are always here.

Love always,

Natasha

Scripture

A hot-tempered person must pay the penalty; rescue them, and you will have to do it again.

Proverbs 19:19

Reflection

Once you have positioned yourself to be recognized and self-proclaimed as a person with an uncontrollable temper, you find yourself in situations that lead to negative consequences. We must learn to control our emotions, to control our anger and outbursts, to control our tendency to say and do mean things to others.

Self-control requires strength and love; it requires a passion for life and for something greater than what we see before us today. It says that, “I am greater than my emotions”. In turn, when hurt or disappointed, we have to choose whether to explode emotionally, verbally, or physically, or take control of ourselves and look for more positive ways to express what we are feeling and thinking.

Yes, there are times when your spouse, significant other, children, pets, neighbors, family, friends, co-workers, employees, or the random man on the street will work your absolute last ‘nerve’, but our reaction to them shows more about our true selves, our inner self, and our heart, than anything else.

What you do and say will create a domino effect that will impact a great number of people, possibly hundreds, in one single day.

We also cannot be responsible for a hot-headed person who is quick to anger. If we always make excuses for their behavior, always let them get away with being mean and disrespectful, they will never change for the better—but only see their behavior as acceptable. You will then create an endless and vicious cycle of ugliness. Your desire to try to control a situation will reveal your lack of control. Stop rationalizing poor behavior. You’re lying to God, yourself, and everyone else.

We must work towards ridding ourselves of darkness and staying away from people who are not mature enough to keep their emotions in check. No one should live in fear or under stress caused by others. If they can’t behave then keep your distance. Let them know that their behavior is intolerable and you choose to only entertain peace not chaos. Don’t back down from this stance or they will mentally or verbally clobber you. You must stand strong and resist the urge to enable their bad behavior. That’s the enemy at play there.

Lastly, before ‘going off’ as many of us call it, let’s work at walking away and calming down, and then reassessing the situation after we have calmed down. I know that there have been countless times when I’ve gone off and yelled, screamed, and cursed at someone—then later I regretted not having self control. I realized how I took the bait and made a fool of myself for the enemy’s delight. My lack of self-control feeds the enemy’s desire for chaos, and reflects the opposite of God’s steadiness. We can do better.

Prayer

Calm me Father. Comfort me in time of pain and anger so that I may control my emotions and actions. Touch my heart Lord so that I find the patience to endure, overlook, or lovingly address the most unbearable of instances and people. Fill me with hope that things will get better sooner, through either walking away or a changing of hearts.

Show me how to control my mind and tongue Father. Show me how to simmer my temper, so as not to be an eyesore in Your Kingdom. Let me learn from Your son Jesus how to walk upright and never get taken aback so far that I lose my composure and dignity. In his name and Yours I pray. Amen.

Breaking Bread for 3.10.20

Scripture

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.

Romans 2:1

Reflection

The things you don’t like in others are oftentimes characteristics and traits that you also possess. You may not realize it until someone puts a “mirror” up and shows you, you, and you see that the other person is merely a mirror image of yourself. You then see that you’re more alike than different, and that which you despise in them you despise in yourself.

While you desire their change, what about your own? Do you make the steps to change or do you hypocritically continue to point out their faults as though they aren’t also your own? The mirror doesn’t lie. It’s both eye-opening and soul stirring.

Passing judgment leaves you wide open to being judged. You opened the door, now expect some stuff that you didn’t expect or plan for to roll in and land at your feet. So you should think twice before opening your mouth against others, spreading prophesies, and claiming to be blameless. You will surely see your mirror image one day. Maybe sooner than later. Maybe you will be surrounded, like in a house of mirrors at the fair. That’s a scary thought.

Prayer

Father, please keep me focused on doing right, speaking with love, and thinking of how best to serve You and Your Kingdom. Hold my tongue before I speak ill of someone, pass judgment, and respond out of anger, fear, or envy. Place the mirror of truth before me so that I always see my faults before I attempt to point out someone else’s. In Your name I humbly pray. Amen.

Love,

Natasha

Breaking Bread for 3.9.20

Scripture

“For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?”

Mark 8:36

Reflection

First, let me thank my aunt Valerie for sending me today’s scripture, eight years ago. I read it again today and I knew I had to share. It touched me deeply as I began to pray on its meaning, implications, and the expressed affront of greed and the greedy. Now let’s get to the nitty gritty, shall we?

Do what we desire and dream of actually align with God’s plans for us? Are the things that bring you joy today also the things that could sustain you for a lifetime? If you didn’t receive another tangible blessing, would it be enough?

Many of us walk around attempting to acquire and aggressively collect as much as we can in fear that our time is more limited than we think; so we can’t afford to wait on God to take care of what we believe we need. Oftentimes we miss out on the greatest of blessings and experiences because we are too focused on lack, and how to turn that lack into gross abundance.

What are you willing to sacrifice to gain that abundance? What and who are you willing to neglect to make sure that every free moment you have is fixated on reaching that ultimate goal of excess? At what cost will you give of yourself to get what you think you need? If you get what you desire will it truly be enough?

Let’s spend more time getting to know each other rather than building walls of isolation and dread. In each person you can see, hear, and feel God—so why deny yourself the opportunity to connect? Even if you can’t fathom why. Just try. Maybe that person is a blessing in disguise. At the same time, don’t use God’s creations as your linchpin. Don’t use them to elevate and propel yourself. Turn to and lean on the One who created them and created you. Lean in and hear what He’s telling you each day, what He’s telling you right this very second.

Consider your actions versus your prayers for God’s reassurance of action already taken. Are you a sell out to the world, or are you sold on God’s promise?

Prayer

Father, I am appreciative and grateful for all that I have, and thank You for blessing me with every item and every person that has been made a part of my life.

Let me always think of the impact of my decisions before I make them. Let me always weigh how what I might say or do would affect others. Help me to admit my wrong, ask those that I’ve wronged for forgiveness, and be quick to forgive—as You demonstrate daily. Let me always pray to You first for guidance and protection. I want only what I am worthy of, and desire no more than what You believe I should have.

If this very moment I took my last breath, I declare that You have given me more than enough. Thank You Father. I love You!

Love,

Natasha

Breaking Bread for 3.6.20

Scripture

Whatever task comes your way to do, do it with all your strength; because in Sh’ol, where you will go, there is neither working nor planning, neither knowledge nor wisdom.

Kohelet (Ecc) 9:10 CJB

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for there is no activity or planning or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead) where you are going.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 AMP

Reflection

Eight years ago I was blessed by a prayer and part of a Bible verse that made me stop and think. The verse read, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might…. As you can see, it’s part of the passage that I provided, in full, above.

It’s the Amplified Bible version. I decided to also include the Complete Jewish Bible version to show the different translations and how we can interpret their meaning. I’m grateful that God placed it in my friend Kenya’s heart to forward me this part of the scripture and a prayer that day. It touched my heart.

Today, eight years later I read it and I have a deeper understanding and appreciation for what King Solomom (or whichever unnamed king actually wrote it, since this is disputed) was saying and who he was saying it to.

The message is truly deep, poignant, and always timely.

One Context & Interpretation

I can take from an excerpt of this message this truth, that, God doesn’t like laziness or mediocrity, so His Word encourages me to always do my best in both small and large efforts. If I give my best then I can always be confident that I strove for excellence and have nothing to be ashamed of—so lazy and mediocre can’t be my labels—while hard-working and determined can!

When we’re working to glorify God our work should be intentional and thorough, and with honor and integrity. Let’s strive to do and give our best in everything in life, and do so in honor of God who makes it possible for all things to occur. We must give all of ourselves to God and His Kingdom. Can you imagine the return on that investment? Priceless.

What’s Overlooked & Misinterpreted

This verse has a second part that many may overlook. As you saw, the part that was initially forwarded to me eight years ago didn’t include the second part. It also didn’t include the parts that led up to it. So I will provide context. The second part addresses another level of existence where working, planning, knowledge and wisdom are irrelevant and won’t be utilized—and therefore, King Solomon, was expressing the urgency of the people giving their all then because later they wouldn’t have the opportunity. But it wasn’t that clean cut.

It’s All In God’s Hands

From the earlier passages, Solomon was attesting to the fact and his belief that people and their words and deeds are in the hands of God, so even those who were seen as righteous and wise could not say with certainty their fate. Everything was left up to God. Solomon said that the righteous and the wicked could have the same fate. It was God’s decision.

Solomon was throwing down heavy weights at the feet of anyone who read his autobiography. He called out humans for the vileness and hypocrisy they lived and tried to keep hidden. So he told people to keep doing what they were doing, even if outwardly it appeared noble and righteous yet the opposite were true. He explained that God would decide their fate no matter what. They could be overt or covert, it didn’t matter. God has the last say.

That is why Solomon said to work their hardest at whatever task came their way, because that would be the reward they could see and receive in real-time while alive in the present—because when they were sent to Sh’ol (Sheol) they wouldn’t have these opportunities. They would merely exist and rot.

What in the World or Other World is Sheol?

In the Hebrew Bible, She’ol is said to be a dark place where spirits of the dead go. Other texts say it’s a place of punishment meant for the wicked who are now dead. In the Talmud a similar place is called Gehenna. As you can see, that’s where King Solomon was writing about and telling people they would end up there after they died— and could no longer masquerade their treachery, hypocrisy, and in some cases, their pseudo righteousness. People can pimp themselves and other people using religion but you can’t pimp God. What was the purpose of rebuilding a Temple to worship God if the people are going to continue sinning and acting like fools and idiots?

Historical Context

Knowing the historical context of this writing, if we assume it was king Solomon who wrote this autobiography, then by that time, according to the book of Kings, he had spent the first seven years of his reign as king, rebuilding the Temple that had been destroyed. He spent 13 years, approximately, building his palace that would serve as the location of his kingdom. His servanthood blessed him above and beyond any king before or after him, because he did it all for God and to fulfill God’s plans. God blessed him with more wisdom and money than any king ever. Now, after close to 30 years of reigning, Solomon was taking the time to ponder, reflect, and use the wisdom God gave him to write his autobiography.

Ecclesiastes is Solomon’s words of reflection, opinions, foresight, and admonitions. At the end, after all that he had done and received, he realized that nothing stops the inevitable, and all things rest in God’s hands.

You Can’t Earn Your Place

Today, I share this passage with the full context and understanding that there is absolutely nothing you can do to earn a place in God’s “safe zone”, whether you call it heaven or someplace else. In all the things that you do and say that appear good and right to you, maybe they are and maybe they aren’t. God is concerned with our hearts. Just because you practice the religion you have chosen doesn’t mean you’re living as God desires, nor does it mean you’re granted special privileges.

God can choose to grant clemency and show grace to the blatant sinner, placing the two of you side-by-side, or not. Solomon and others before and after him wrote it, and Jesus is quoted as saying it.

That’s the choice of the Creator.

So rather than thinking you have daily earned your “spot” on the team, or that you need to daily earn a spot, you need to pour yourself into everything and every opportunity God presents to you, and do so for Him, not for you—not because you think it will get you somewhere or keep you from going someplace else. We’re simply to serve and trust that God already has things worked out.

If You Don’t Know, Research

I also share this Bible passage as a reminder that historical, cultural, and other relevant context is always important to have when reading the Bible. If you don’t truly know something, then utilize the modern luxuries called books and the Internet. The latter is faster, but you can’t just run with the first result from your inquiry. Research and find out what was going on in the land when Solomon (or whomever) wrote or said something. Who are they speaking to and why?

Don’t just repeat, recite, and regurgitate words and information that you haven’t studied, researched, and found answers and context about. Don’t assume to know. Don’t go based on what a religious leader said. Don’t just assume because it’s in writing that it’s accurate.

Be wise and act accordingly.

Who Solomon Was Speaking About

In this context, if this was indeed Solomon, then he was speaking to and about the people who, once again, were backsliding, whether overtly or covertly, and he was frustrated with why they couldn’t see and realize how ignorant they truly were. That’s why he called their lives meaningless (v. 9) because what were they really doing all of this for, since it wasn’t for and directed by God?

I leave you with that to ponder.

Prayer

Father-Mother God, thank You for Your hand of blessing on my life. I choose today to serve You with my whole heart and do everything to the best of my ability. I understand that my fate rests solely in Your capable Hands, and what You seek is my heart and what comes from it, so I strive to pour into my work and into others what You pour into me—not to get to a specific place, but just out of gratitude for Your gifts, and to glorify You for all that You are and all that You share. Thank You for Your faithfulness to me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Love,

Natasha

Breaking Bread for 3.5.20

Scripture

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:30-31 NIV

Reflection

We all get tired, but God will reenergize us. He will strengthen us and expand our reach. He will pick us up when we fall down and call out to Him.

There is not a need He cannot meet, a wound He cannot heal, an issue He cannot resolve, a creation He is not connected to, and a space He cannot enter.

That extra push, lift, burst that you feel—that’s God’s presence and assistance. That gut feeling or voice that directed you the right way at the right time, that is God. He speaks to you, sends angels and messengers, and speaks through your loved ones and complete strangers. He can even speak through your enemy. Shocking but true. He can leave you both dazed and confused.

There are no limits to God. So that means, with God as your foundation and guiding force, there are no limits in your life. The only limits are the ones you choose to see and manufacture. Your physical characteristics are only a limit because you make them so. Your beliefs about other people’s opinion of you are self-limiting; that has nothing to do with God and everything to do with you.

What God says that you are and can do, you are and can do. You just have to choose to see, embrace, and live fully. What you say that you are and can do, is where you choose to be defined, either as an open and limitless canvas or a limited and confined box. Always remember that. You choose to see through God’s perfect lens or through yours.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for my renewed strength. Thank You for always revealing Yourself to me and showing me that You are always here and always working. When I grow tired, restless, or frustrated, or all three—may I turn and lean on You for support and a recharge.

I love You Father. I’m grateful for my life, even the twists and turns, and the downs that came before and after the ups. Every experience I’m grateful for because each day is both a lesson and a gift. Thank You for loving me enough to share freely this priceless life. In Your name I praise, in Jesus’ name I pray to You. Amen.

Love,

Natasha

Breaking Bread for 3.4.20

Scripture

Sing to the lord with grateful praise; make music to our God on the harp.

Psalm 147:7 NIV

Sing to Adonai with thanks, sing praises on the lyre to our God.

Tehillim (Psa) 147:7 CJB

Reflection

This morning I woke up, thanked God and started counting my blessings—lost count, got excited—that’s another blessing!

I thought back to a few hours in the day, yesterday, when I was feeling down and out about a situation, and I was reminded of numerous blessings that made that situation a reminder of what God can do. I just needed the faith to get my scary butt out of His way. I needed to be praising Him, not feeling sorry for myself. I needed to be singing and dancing, not feeling tears of sorrow build up and slowly stream down my face. Those tears mean we don’t believe. Jeesh, if God’s self-esteem was predicated on our faith, He would be constantly depressed.

When life gets you down, holler out and praise the Lord that you are here to experience one more moment. Praise each moment of God’s grace and mercy. Crank up the music and sing songs that honor Him and make you want to rejoice the life He’s given you. He chose and made you, and gifted you with special talents to share with the world.

Clap your hands as you dance to sweet harmonies inspired by our heavenly Father. Feel the love. Feel the vibe. Feel the Spirit running through you, and, smile. You are energy. Protect it.

Manage your energy by remaining locked on and in to God’s outlet. Every time we pull away we pull at that cord and we alter the energy flowing through it. What happens while you’re vacuuming and you push the vacuum too far, and the cord begin to pull out of the electrical outlet? It starts making a weird noise as the vacuum struggles to maintain the charge. What happens when it disconnects? The vacuum stops running. Then we have to reconnect to start again. We are exactly the same way.

Or like the batteries in a remote control. If one or more batteries are inserted the wrong way, the remote won’t work. We have to be in perfect alignment.

We are like the vacuum, the remote control, or any other source that runs on energy, and requires a connection to the source to work. God is that source and we should praise each day that we are connected to Him.

If He didn’t want us, didn’t love us, we wouldn’t exist. He would’ve never formed us as an idea to be conceived and birthed. Let that marinate in your mind and heart when you want to feel sorry for yourself. Remind yourself how special, gifted, blessed, and loved you truly are!

Prayer

Father, I praise Your holy name. I praise You for the blessings You grant me. I praise You for the lessons You teach me, and the people You bring into my life.

I love You Father. I sing and dance in Your name. No matter what comes my way I know that You are always here for me. No matter who steps in my path, trying to block my progress and Your work, You always push them to the wayside. Thank You Father.

I worship only You Father. Not Your creations, just You. I trust You Father. Even when I don’t show it. It’s my lack of trust in me that shows a lack of trust in You. I apologize for bringing chaos to Your order. In Your name and Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Love you all!

Breaking Bread for 3.3.20

Scripture

Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you, as the Father sent me, so I am sending you.” CEB

John 20:21

“ Shalom aleikhem !” Yeshua repeated. “Just as the Father sent me, I myself am also sending you.”

Yochanan (Jhn) 20:21 CJB

Reflection

Not all are called to do the same thing or to go the same places. We may come together and then have to go our separate ways. God makes no mistakes. He is never confused or absentminded. God knew exactly what was needed of Jesus, and what He would experience and be subjected to, long before Jesus was conceived and born to Mary.

That is why God spoke through others who prophesied of Jesus’s birth, life, influence, persecution, crucifixion, and ascension. What came to pass had to unfold exactly as it was told by God. It was to bring full circle what God was trying to get His people to see, realize, and embrace. Yet many didn’t and many still don’t.

God sent Jesus and before his ascension, Jesus called on his remaining disciples to go out to the world and do as they were taught. They had walked with him, learned from him, long enough. It was now time for them to demonstrate, without using him as a crutch, that they could walk, see, feel, and heal by faith alone. They would be strengthened in numbers to lovingly hold each other accountable, to be each other’s keeper, and to lock arms of conviction against the attacks of the enemy called satan.

Before our conception, God knew us and knew the plans He had for us. He knew that there would be distractions, interference, hiccups, and blunders along the way. He already knew the times we would stray, be tempted, give in to temptation, and be redirected. He knew then where and what we would be doing this day—seeing me typing this message and you reading and sharing it with others. God saw all of this before we were created. Embrace that reality.

God has called on each of us to do something that builds, strengthens, and solidifies His Kingdom as infinite supreme. How do you know your calling if you aren’t asking and listening to Him? Not casually but intentionally and intensely. It may be through prayer, meditation, or just lying in silence and listening for His voice.

Some of us are chasing, pursuing, and already involved in things, activities, and relationships that aren’t aligned with our purpose, mission, and calling. Some of us are intoxicated by the luring nature of the flesh, limited by human senses and reasoning—when we need to be tapped in, locked in, and operating from and in the Spirit of God.

What has He sent you to do here on Earth, in the human body that you have? What is your current assignment? How far have you deviated from the path and plan? Or are you right on target? If you don’t know, ask Him. He will answer you, guide you, and correct you. Just as He did Jesus!

The first step in knowing is believing. If you don’t believe then how will you receive? Make sure that your heart and mind are ready and open to fully connect and receive from God.

Prayer

You are never not on time Father. You always show up and show out right on time. You always send signs and messages as reminders that You are here, listening, watching, and waiting.

Father, I was praying for more peace in my life. I was praying that I’d see what You have placed before me, and right when I needed reassurance it came in an electronic message, of all things. Your reach is limitless.

Thank You Father. Help me to see everything that You need me to see, exactly where, when, and how You need me to see it. Help me to embrace all that is for my use to fulfill the mission that You have placed before me. Strengthen and encourage me to go beyond my comfort zone, to be all that I was called to be. In Your son Yeshua’s name I pray to You today and always. Amen.

Lovingly,

Natasha
