Breaking Bread For 7.13.20

Scripture

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:13

Reflection

Even when we have doubts and fears, and our faith and hope in life’s situations flickers on and off, one thing is constant and that’s God’s love. This is the one thing that should remain a constant for us also—our love for Him, our love for ourselves, and our love for other people—despite their faults, and regardless if whether or not they love us.

If you can’t believe and have faith in the creations, believe and have faith in the Creator. You know the vision the Creator had and has for His creations. The creations, just like you, are flawed with fear and shame. Add a lack of hope and that recipe gets more and more distorted. But you know that’s not how they were created. You know the intent and direction of the Creator. Don’t judge, form an opinion, or respond based on the actions of the creation. Speak from and walk in the Truth of their, and your, Creator. Let your hope and faith in Him guide and guard you. We keep moving, reacting, and determining our actions based on what others do and say. We need to be focused on what God does and says; what is His mission for you? What has he called you to do? How does He expect you to speak and behave? That is what you need to focus on, align to, and be rooted in each day.

I don’t have to like you to love you. I don’t have to approve of what you do or say to have love for you in my heart. Love isn’t just the act of giving and receiving, it’s also the grace and mercy embedded within that we tune in and tap into—that we all desire and seek.

Our faith should not be secured or restored based on what we see, but on the Truth that speaks to us and within us. We should be guided by that because it always stands the tests of time.

A person without hope is dangerous to self and others, because they see no use and value in life, as their faith is shattered and they are blinded by lack.

That is the power of love—in that, faith and hope can clamp on and gain strength, and momentum the longer the bond remains intact with love.

Love your family, friends, neighbors, associates, strangers, service providers, bill collectors, and your enemies. Then watch as the world begins to look different as you begin looking through a different lens. Don’t be concerned about what’s in their heart and if they love you, and show that love. Be concerned about your heart, thoughts, speech, and actions. That is the only thing you can and should be controlling. You can’t control someone’s behavior, but you can control yours. God deals with them in His own way, just as He deals with you.

So be intentional with your love. Don’t ration it. Don’t hold back. Don’t play games. Love is not a game and the heart is nothing to play with. It does not do well with double-talk. It requires authenticity. Do your best and pour your all into this experience that we call “life”. There’s no do-overs here.

Prayer

Father, I am so thankful and grateful for Your love, for it is like no other. I can rely upon Your love remaining constant for eternity. Your love is infinite, unlike anything a human can give because You give freely without keeping track of my wrongs, without expectations, without ultimatums, and without game playing. Your love for me is not predicated on whether I love You or am obedient to You. Your love is simply an “Is” without explanation.

I have faith in You that You will always provide for me, and that You will protect me from harm. I have faith in You that You will place the right people in my life at the right time, and You will remove those individuals that don’t belong in my life now or in the future.

I have hope, and I continue to hope for the best. I hope for an enduring, loving, respectful, caring, honest, faithful, faith-filled, committed and monogamous relationship with a person who also loves and has faith in You, and never loses hope in You or mankind.

My faith and my hope may be tested, and I may sometimes waver— but one thing You know Father is that my love for You never leaves and is never rattled or swayed. I love You Lord. If I didn’t love You I couldn’t possibly love myself— for You created and care for me. Thank You for Your love Father. In Your son Jesus’ name I pray to You with an abundance of love, hope and faith. Amen.

I love you all.

Love always,

Natasha
