Jonah was in the mouth of a whale declaring God’s strength, power, and glory. He did not give up and accept defeat, but rather knew that only God could determine his fate. He prayed for God’s will to be done. His faith and commitment during the darkest of moments showed Jonah’s true character, and because of this God released Jonah from the whale.
Jonah was less focused on himself and totally focused on God. There is an amazing quote by Beth Moore that truly highlights this relationship that Jonah had with God, and the type of relationship that we should all strive to have, “Spiritual worship is focusing all we are on all He is.”
When I turn to anyone or anything else other than You and Jesus, I have chosen to have a conditional relationship with You Father. I pray for a relationship with You that honors You always. I pray to always put You first and to always seek Your light. As You mold my clay, squeeze out those things that displease You. In Your son’s holy name I pray to You and I praise You. Amen.
Love always your sister in Christ,
