Scripture
While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven.
Luke 24:51 NIV
Reflection
If you study the Bible, you know that before someone transitioned from this life, they would oftentimes bless those closest to them, such as their family and household staff. Jesus satisfied this custom twice. The first time was during the Last Supper, while in his human body, he blessed his disciples. The second time was by blessing his disciples in his last moment here (in his transformed body). And while he was blessing them, he left and ascended. Jesus’ blessings did not cease after that day. He blessed all of us on the cross, through his resurrection, and since his ascension he has blessed us through our daily prayers.
May we all be fortunate enough to bless our loved ones while we roam in these bodies, and again before we transition, and through our work here—may our legacy continue to bless them for generations to come, long after we leave behind these bodies.
Prayer
Father, thank You for my blessings. Thank You for the angels You have sent to protect, guide, and enlighten me. Thank You for my loved ones—those I stay in constant contact with and those I haven’t spoken to in years. For those who have been a blessing to me let me be a blessing to them, and for those who need a blessing allow me to bless them through You. Your son Jesus blessed us, ascended, and we honored him as the Wayshower to You. He continues to bless us because of You. In his name and Yours I humbly and faithfully pray. Amen.
Love you always,
Natasha
