Scripture
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet has thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
John 14:6, 8-10 KJV
Reflection
Through discernment we can trust something to be truth, without testing our assumption. Until we believe without the need for confirmation, we cannot truly have faith. Without trust we can’t have faith. You can process information and through deductive reasoning reach a conclusion that something is probable. But that does not mean that you have faith in that information doing more than what your mind has already processed. Until we have faith we cannot truly experience what God has planned for us. You can’t see with your eyes what your heart still struggles to feel and what your mind fails to comprehend and consider. If you are limited by the flesh then the spirit does not live outwardly.
Until we are true believers in faith (support of God), walking and living in that faith (support of God) we are merely lost sheep awaiting our shepherd, and prone to be lured by another voice (Satan) that we’re fooled into believing is our shepherd. We will go round and round in circles going no where fast— lost in a wilderness, in a constant mental state of lack. Four days is too long to be wandering through a forest without a sense of direction; consider 40 years that the Israelites struggled with letting go things of the flesh to embrace a new life God had planned for them. Now consider walking around aimlessly for a lifetime. We all have choices. God sent numerous prophets to share, teach, and direct. He sent Jesus to realign us and confirm the visions, plans, and promises. God sent Jesus to be the King of Israel that the people had been begging for, for hundreds of years. Look at what the people did to the God-sent King. How are we any different? It’s 2021 and look at us. Jesus left the roadmap but if we choose to not follow so that we can finally experience the life that God promised, then that is the choice we will have to live with. What choice will you make? What choice will you stand by to demonstrate your faith (support) in God?
Prayer
Father if there is any doubt in me as to Your realness, Your presence, Your power, Your influence over my life and the world— I want it removed now. You know my heart Lord. If I believe in Your Son then how can I not believe in You? If I believe in You then I must believe that You sent Your son to save us. I believe that we did not truly believe, listen and follow You, and You sent Jesus to free us of the shackles we placed upon ourselves.
Father, we are still enslaved. We are still not fully committed and invested in Your plan. We are still easily manipulated by the “liar” and I know that I want the mania and chaos in my life to end. I want to taste the sweet fruits provided by You, I want to drink the pure water from You, I want to walk in righteousness and not wallow in sin. Cleanse me Lord. I petition You and Your Son to guide, redirect, realign, and to help me reflect You all the days of my life. I say these words to You as a believer and follower of You and Your Son, the Wayshower, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Love,
Natasha
