Breaking Bread For 1.20.22

Scripture

All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the lord.

Proverbs 16:2

Reflection

If in your walk you have reason to question whether what you are doing is right in the eyes of the Lord ask yourself, “Is this of God? Will I have to repent for this?” If there is doubt or you know for a fact that what you’re doing isn’t of God and that you would have to repent, then you are walking on a dangerous path, and your motives are not pure. So don’t do it…stop right now!

If that’s not enough motivation, consider asking yourself this question, “If I could see Jesus watching me right now, would I continue doing this?” If you would stop, then stop, because you know that Jesus and God are both watching and listening. They don’t have on noise cancellation headphones and eye masks. They aren’t on a spiritual retreat.

But if you care not to even weigh your decisions, if you casually do and say whatever you want without consideration to whether it is of God, then God will of course weigh things for you.

Prayer

Father, You know my heart and I pray that my motives are in line with Your expectations and plans for me. If they are not I pray that You swiftly and lovingly re-direct me so that I do not have to learn the painstakingly and extremely long way in which to walk. I’m tired of repeating mistakes, after awhile they are no longer mistakes, they’re just disobedience, and that hurts my heart to admit this. I want to be aligned with You, not struggling with You. Your will not mine. In Your Name I pray. Amen.

Lovingly,

Natasha
