Scripture

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38-39

Reflection

If nothing can keep you away from God, separate you from his care and love, or take His place in your life— then why do you go everywhere but directly to Him for all of your needs, and to give all of your thanks? There are no true substitutes for God. You can seek alternatives but nothing and no one has the power and presence to overrule and replace Him.

When you’re seeking out counseling and therapy be sure that they begin and end with your loving conversations with Him. There are no human gatekeepers or interpreters. Jesus is the wayshower and the shepherd, and God is ALL in ALL, alpha and omega, the center and the exterior.

We are quick to turn to man to solve our problems, heal our inflictions, and to make sense of the unknown or confusing. Why, when all answers, healing, knowledge and wisdom come from our Heavenly Father? Why seek outside secondary sources when you have a direct link to the main source? Why try to quench your thirst from a small fissure that trickles water, when you can go directly to the source that will supply you with all of the water you will ever need?

I get using the resources that tap into the source; the faucet we use is attached to a system, that taps into the water source we use. For most of us, we don’t have to go directly to the river, we just flip or turn a knob or handle. But we know the Source of that water. We know where it comes from. The source isn’t the faucet manufacturer or the company that installed the pipes, or the one who has the system that pumps and filters the water.

We tend to have a better appreciation and connection when we are living in nature and exerting the energy to extract the resources we need. The more modernized we become, driven by technology, the less we acknowledge and give credit to the one and true Source. Let’s not be dependent on the creations, the resources. Depend on the Creator, the Source.

No disrespect to therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and the like, who go to school an additional 6-12 years and study human behavior, emotion, anatomy, and the human mind. But who is truly the ultimate authority on our brains, hearts, emotions, and behavior? God!

It is understandable to be drawn to seeking counsel from another human because you have a need for human contact, empathy, and camaraderie, and a need to hear a voice speak clearly to you (and one that you can record and play back) to affirm, confirm, or redirect your thinking. But shouldn’t your beginning, middle, and end come from God? Utilize His resources but through His direction.

Specialists in these areas are trained to diagnose (to the best of their ability) and to provide you with tools and devices to address your internal mental concerns, and they attempt to have you solve your issues as much as possible on your own as you can. While others recruit assistance from prescribed drugs to alter your mind to succumb and behave ‘appropriately’. We are in a world that is quick to medicate others and self-medicate ourselves. We pop pills and drink concoctions for everything and anything, oftentimes because we want a quick fix to our problems without really looking at the complete picture.

Where is God in all of this? If you leave Him out then you restrict your ability to heal and grow, timely and properly.

The only access to your mind should come from God, the Creator, King, and ultimate authority on body, Mind, Spirit, Soul, Love, Life, and Truth. When you give access freely to others without God granting permission, then you are saying you trust man more than our Father. You then place the barrier up between yourself and God. You tell Him that you don’t think He can handle what you’re going through, or that He can’t get it resolved in the time you want it.

Pray to Him to show you the way, to put the right people and counselors before you, to heal you from all inflictions, and to release you from bondage. Your mind can only truly be tapped and untapped by His Mind. Your healing can only come from Him. Your peace can only grow from within, through His presence.

Ask Him for the answer. Get right with Him. Build and nurture your relationship with Him. Stop trying to find shortcuts and quick fixes. Stop trying to put band aids on deep wounds. Stop looking for substitutes and alternatives. Align and get in agreement with God, and then watch the facade of this world be fully revealed, as you walk in your true identity.

Prayer

Father, I am forever grateful for Your love, for our relationship, and my relationship with Your son Jesus. Every day I am receptive to the moments that I can connect to You and him. I embrace and am appreciative for the long talks, quick check-ins, and the opportunities that You afford me.

There is no substance, presence, being, or thing that can ever keep us apart. Not even fear can keep us apart, because You always penetrate that veil and show me the way to regain strength, courage, and confidence in You. For these things and more I say thank You and I love You Father. Amen.

Lovingly,

Natasha
