Scripture
Unless the LORD builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the LORD protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good. It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.
Psalm 127:1-2
Reflection
Is God the center of your world, or just a periphery piece that you call on when your way isn’t coming together as planned?
Do you see your ideas as yours alone, or do you see them as deposits from God that you’re to steward? Can you see the ways that God makes all things possible and all of the ways that your interference delays what‘s waiting for you? You keep trying to do things your way; how’s that working out for you?
Do you see Him as your Source, or do you think that life solely or primarily requires your exerted energy? You can work from sunrise to sunset and beyond, but if God didn’t make provisions, you will always be lacking and spiritually bankrupt.
We must seek God in all things, first, throughout, and after. When scared we must cling to Him and pray for the courage to continue. When we are uncomfortable or imbalanced, we must turn to Him to tilt the scales.
Seek Him, surrender to Him, embrace Him, and reflect Him!
Prayer
Father, touch my head and heart, that they might align properly. Guide my feet where You want me to go. Let me only do what You call me to do. Let me rest when tired so that I might give my energy and effort to serving You.
Show me the way and the light so I don’t preoccupy myself with senseless things that don’t matter to You.
I only want to focus on what You want me to focus on Father. Remove any fear that may cause me to hesitate, stumble, or hide. Today I take the next step. Amen.
