… while I was sitting in my house and the elders of Judah were sitting before me, the hand of the Sovereign lord came on me there. I looked, and I saw a figure like that of a man. From what appeared to be his waist down he was like fire, and from there up his appearance was as bright as glowing metal…. The Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and in visions of God he took me to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the north gate of the inner court, where the idol that provokes to jealousy stood.

Then he brought me to the entrance to the court….And he said to me, “Go in and see the wicked and detestable things they are doing here.” ….He said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of Israel are doing in the darkness, each at the shrine of his own idol? They say, ‘The lord does not see us; the lord has forsaken the land.’”

Then he brought me to the entrance of the north gate of the house of the lord, and I saw women sitting there, mourning the god Tammuz…He then brought me into the inner court of the house of the lord, and there… were about twenty-five men. With their backs toward the temple of the lord and their faces toward the east, they were bowing down to the sun in the east.

Ezekiel 8:1-3, 5-7, 9, 12, 14, 16

If we have been told and shown examples of what God expects of us and disapproves of, then why are we still continuing the cycle of hardheadedness demonstrated by the Israelites thousands of years ago? Why is our struggle with the flesh so difficult to overcome? Why is it that when times get tough we turn to idols, man, spirits, charts, and dead gods for comfort?

Why don’t we seek out God—and His Love, Truth, Spirit, and Light?

Is it because He is not of flesh? Is it because He doesn’t casually walk amongst us like a human ruler? Do we only see Him as the distant Creator, the Heavenly King of human kings, that rules from afar and chooses to not interfere with many of our fleshly battles and quandaries? Do we not seek Him because we don’t trust Him?

Something to ponder. Maybe you will take your thoughts to Him for an honest conversation.

Father, thank You! Thank You for showing me through examples those things You detest and disapprove of as well as those things that are pleasing to You. Thank You for giving me the opportunity to do right and correct my steps.

Thank You for equipping me with the knowledge to make the right decisions and be comforted in knowing that there is no better way than Yours; there is no better justice than what You deliver, and there is nothing I would rather do than to worship and serve You.

I know You see me Father, I know You have not forsaken me, and I know that You will answer my prayers and deliver me at a time and place that You see fit. Thank You Father. Amen.

Love you always,
