And God is able to make every grace overflow to you, so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work.
2 Corinthians 9:8
I’ve been reflecting on this scripture since yesterday. I kept meditating on it as I drove to appointments and while running errands. I continued breaking the message down into smaller points, really focusing on not only what it says about God but also what it says about us and how we view Him.
We say that God is our provider, but do you truly understand what it is that we’re saying? As our provider, He is our supplier of everything that you need—that I need—that we need. God is the need-filler. He knows all of your needs. He knows the needs that you have yet to discover. God is never caught off guard. He doesn’t forget. He doesn’t lose track. He is faithful and unwavering.
He loves like no one and nothing else. When you try to think of the culmination of all-things you consider love, you still have only scratched the surface. His love never ceases to flow to you, even when you would do something that would be seen as a disappointment—God never stops loving you. God’s grace is sufficient. You should believe wholeheartedly that His grace is sufficient. You should be comforted and overjoyed with this thought in your mind—for this reality is incomparable.
There’s something important about this passage that many people would overlook.
It begins with “And God is able to…” not “And God will”. Which clearly expresses and implies that God can, but not that He most definitely will and not for all people. God provides in whatever measure He sees fit by whatever timetable He orders.
Something else that is important about this message that would also go overlooked:
It ends with, “you may excel in every good work” which means there is an expectation of you doing good in God’s name—you paying forward his grace and provisions through good work, honorable work, praiseworthy work, work that magnifies and glorifies God—work that serves as a testimony to His goodness.
Are you putting forth the effort each day? If not, ask yourself why.
Father, You are more than enough. You are my provider, comforter, guide, protector, and source for all that is good and wonderful. You are my potter and I am Your clay. I can’t fathom an existence without You. You keep me filled and my cup runneth over. I will turn to You when I am fearful or worried. I will trust You to handle all things that are beyond my reach, scope, and capabilities. I love You Father. Thank You for loving me. Amen.
Have an awesome day family!
