Scripture

And Jesus answered him, “It is said, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’” And when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from him until an opportune time. And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a report about him went out through all the surrounding country.

—Luke 4:12-14 ESV

Reflection

Whether it be a person or thing that tempts us, we know right from wrong— we know what is of God and what is a mirage invented by the father of lies. We need to stop lying to ourselves and saying that “It must be a blessing from God if this is happening to me.” The flesh is weak, and the only solution is God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Let our eyes not stray from the path. Let us not risk all that we have worked for just to have a moment or more in bliss. Let us not risk an eternal life in harmony because of a desire for forbidden fruit. We know when God has told us no. If we ignore Him, then we are testing Him.

When we walk with temptation and not with God, we are walking with the enemy who says, “Just live a little. Doesn’t it feel good?” What we don’t realize is that our judgment is clouded, and within that ecstasy is a kill switch that will bring pain; it will tear down the foundation we built within God’s grace. What we don’t realize is that the temptation will destroy everything you value most. It will rip apart your family, cripple your career, stomp on your dignity and esteem, and sit back and watch you slither on your belly in pain. Ask yourself if this temporary pleasure you are enjoying now is worth the long-term pain in the future?

Is it worth seeing your loved ones in pain? Is it worth displeasing God and Jesus? We must fight for our lives. We must fight for our souls. Don’t lose a position in God’s Kingdom. Don’t test God. Don’t try to outsmart your Creator. Don’t let the temporal sacrifice your eternal.

Prayer

Father, I know that I am never free and clear from the path of the “liar.” I know that temptation will never be in my past. I know that my mind and heart must always be focused on You, praying to You, and devoted to You if I am to fight in this war. Father, please strengthen me. Keep my eyes focused on You. Remove people from my life that serve no purpose other than to tempt me, distract me, take my focus off of You, Father. When they walk before me, Lord, whisper in my ear to walk away. Give me the words to say to resist them.

Give me the strength to resist the feelings inside and the desire to “test the waters.” Give me the wisdom to know that You know all, see all and have power over all; the wisdom to know that I can never be equal to You, smarter than You, or more powerful than You. Give me the strength to overcome the lust of things I don’t need—the things that could ultimately harm me or pull me off Your path. Father, please surround me with Your presence. Fill me with Your love and discipline. I don’t want to test You, Father. I don’t want to give in to the lies and temptation. I want to live honorably in Your sight, as Jesus exemplified. I only want to serve You, Father. In Your Name, there is grace. In Your Name, I pray. Amen.

And with that family, I pray that you are blessed, that you see and embrace your blessings, and that you are a blessing to others.

Love,

Natasha

Scripture

The tongue that heals is a tree of life, but a devious tongue breaks the spirit.

—Proverbs 15:4 HCSB

Reflection

Sometimes you say something and realize later the impact of your words. You can never take back the things that you say about yourself or others. Thinking before we speak is not just a casual reminder. It’s intended to embed in your mind and heart to be loving, compassionate, thoughtful, and understanding. Even in your worst moments. Even to those who may not be loving towards you. What you say about yourself and others can one day come true, whether good or bad. Remember that!

Over the years, I have admitted on my BreakingBreadWithNatasha.com blog that I’ve been struggling with the words that come from my mouth—at times, using profanity ignorantly to convey a message. I say ignorantly because I know when and how not to use profanity. I don’t do it around my elders, in church, in the workplace, or around children. I know how to express my frustration, disappointment, and pain without cursing. So why do I do it? I can tell you some rational- lies, but the truth is, there are times when I’m choosing to be verbally lazy, refusing to be thoughtful with my words, or easily tempted to use words I know can harm and offend. We can try to say that words don’t have meaning and power by themselves, that we give them meaning and power.

Mmmkay…try justifying that to God. I am a hypocrite if I say that I want to be an ambassador for Christ, but I can easily cuss like a truck driver while justifying that it’s “Not all of the time, just some time.” There is great power in the words you speak, especially when God has called on you to do great things for His glory. Every time I make exceptions to God’s rules and expectations, I am giving into temptation. I’m not going to make excuses for my speech, I’m just going to work to watch my tongue.

Prayer

Father, touch my heart so that I think before I speak. I don’t want to say anything that will intentionally harm another person, bring negativity upon me, or disappoint You. Help me to stop speaking negatively about myself. Remind me that every time I speak negatively about myself, I am speaking to You about Your creation. In turn, I’m disrespecting You. I don’t want to disrespect You Father.

I know that the tongue is mightier than the sword. Always lovingly remind me of this. I pray that times I’m about to slip and say something unbecoming, that the Holy Spirit intervenes so that I may correct my speech. I want to speak healing into myself and others. I don’t want to break my spirit or anyone else’s. I want to be firmly rooted in You. Father, I love You and thank You for loving me, protecting me, and molding me. Amen.

And with that family, I pray that you are blessed, that you see and embrace your blessings, and that you are a blessing to others.

Scripture

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
—Galatians 6:9-10 ESV

Reflection

You may only have five dollars in your wallet. I have been in that position countless times, but even in those moments, I did not hesitate to give one to three dollars to another person in need. Although it was all the money that I had in my wallet, I knew that wasn’t to be the last five dollars I would ever have. I remember years ago, I was driving around, and all that I had was three dollars and a handful of coins (one to two dollars worth) in my car. A man with a sign asking for money for food was blessed with my handful of coins. A woman got two of my dollar
bills. And I bought myself an 89-cent burrito from Taco Bell using the last dollar bill. At the end of the day, we were all taken care of in some way. God is good all of the time. Because of my faith in God, my constant provider, I knew that giving away a few dollars would not break me.

As I always see it, that person who is asking for money could use it for food or to take public transportation somewhere. They now had more options. Sure, they also could use it for drugs and alcohol, but it is not my place to judge and dangle money with restrictions. That is between them and God. If they want to play the hustle game of needing food but using it to poison their body, then they must answer to God—for their body is His temple.

We’re encouraged to be gracious and cheerful givers [2 Cor. 9:6-7]. I don’t want to have to answer the question, “Why didn’t you feed my sheep?” I also don’t want to answer the question, “Why were you being stingy with the money I provided to you?” How can you explain to God why you were being stingy with His money? The money, car, gasoline, and all of your possessions are on loan to you from God. So when He puts someone in your path who appears to have less than you, don’t think twice about giving freely what you can. Even if “feed my sheep” only means to you to “teach people about Jesus,” you can do so while also putting a few dollars in their hands. Wouldn’t that be double the blessings? Stop trying to do His job; just be a cheerful steward and love His children as He loves you.

Prayer

Father, thank You for providing me with the strength that I need to continue doing good in Your Name, even when the pains of life clamp down on me. To receive blessings, one must be a blessing. Father, please keep my eyes, ears, and heart open to those who have less in areas where I have more so that I may be a blessing to them, for my cup always overflows thanks to You. I thank You now. Amen.

And with that family, I pray that you are blessed, that you see and embrace your blessings, and that you are a blessing to others.

Scripture

For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth —as there are many “gods” and many “lords” —yet for us there is one God, the Father. All things are from Him, and we exist for Him. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ. All things are through Him, and we exist through Him.
—1 Corinthians 8:5-6 HCSB

Reflection

We exist FOR God and THROUGH Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. That explanation and our lives can’t get much simpler than that. Our primary purpose is to serve God and build His Kingdom while helping the least of His children. If we can’t master that, then why do we feel that we should know and attempt to accomplish our so-called
human purpose? That is our purpose. Everything else is superfluous.

A man once told me that his grandmother hadn’t discovered her purpose until she was in her 60s or 70s. So, to him, it wasn’t a big deal that he was clueless about his purpose. I was stunned that he wasn’t more interested in his purpose. What if he didn’t live to be 60 or 70 and never lived his purpose? What if he had already been living his purpose but expected to wait decades to discover it? I’ve known since I was a child that my purpose in life is to serve, teach, and be a helper. My journey has consisted of finding ways to serve and be of service and being obedient when God directs me to an assignment. I’m seeing clearly, that my earthly desires are secondary to that. Because of this understanding, I’m never surprised that my loss of focus leads to God humbling me quickly. When I get caught up in the fast life, God puts me in time out. When the ways of the world begin to be the things I idolize, God realigns me. I’m learning that even if I’m not wealthy by human standards, I will always be wealthy by God’s and Jesus’ standards. I am never poor, broke, or broken with God and Christ in my life. There is no lack in my life, only abundance. How do you feel about your life?

Prayer

Father, thank You for loving me and blessing me with the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ. I am grateful for waking up today and for the senses that help me remain connected and aware of my Earthly and spiritual surroundings. I’m grateful for the ability to discern right from wrong, and I understand that I have to deal with the consequences when I choose wrong instead of what is right. I never want to be separated from You at any point. I never want to close my eyes to You, turn my back to You, close my door to You, or walk with a doubting heart. I pray that You mold out of me those things that You find undesirable and mold into me the things that You see fit. I pray for these things while giving You praise, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

And with that family, I pray that you are blessed, that you see and embrace your blessings, and that you are a blessing to others.

Scripture

Ya‘akov [Jacob] said, “No, please! If now I have won your favor, then accept my gift. Just seeing your face has been like seeing the face of God, now that you have received me.

—Genesis 33:10 CJB

Reflection

Pray for discernment, and God will show You the ways, the people, and the world as He sees it. When our eyes are open and focused, the gifts and blessings are ever-flowing. When God is present in someone’s life, we see Him in that person and in everything that they do. Jacob feared that Esau, after 20 years [Genesis 31:38], would still have vengeance in his heart, and Jacob feared that returning home would mean his death—and possibly the death of his wives and children. He knew that God told him to return home [Genesis 31:3], but he wasn’t sure if his brother still wanted to kill him for betraying him. What Jacob didn’t know was that just as God was working on him, molding him, and helping him to embrace a relationship with Him, God had also been working on Esau. After 20 years, Esau’s heart had softened. Instead of running to Jacob and killing him, he hugged and kissed him [Genesis 33:4]. For Jacob, that was the same love, forgiveness, and light that he experienced with God. What he saw in Esau at that moment was God proving that He had taken care of the past. That filled him with so much joy.

Neither man was fully the man of their past. How many times do we encounter people after being apart for years, and we assume that they haven’t changed, but then we’re surprised to see they did? And hopefully, the change was for the better. In the case of Esau and Jacob, both had changed for the better. Jacob had humbled himself and demonstrated that everything he had he now wanted to share with his brother, unlike 20 years earlier, when he was trying to steal and hoard everything for himself. Esau had also freed himself from many of the shackles that anger and envy had locked on his heart; he had followed their father’s direction and focused on building his own legacy rather than inheriting it. He also realized over time that love was more powerful and satisfying than revenge. Imagine how loved and accepted he felt when Jacob’s messengers came to him with the good news of his brother’s return and then the droves of animals and servants that Jacob sent as gifts. Both of them got their fill of God. It takes discernment to distinguish between God and anyone (or anything) else.

Can you see God in others? Can you get past your bias, opinions, and past experiences and instead see what God wants you to see?

Prayer

Let me see and embrace all of the people and resources that you place before me, Lord. May I always see Your Light even in the midst of darkness. May I see You in other people, and may people see You in me. I want my walk to be so profound that there is never a doubt that I walk with You. Mold out the old me and mold in Your image and likeness. I pray for these things as Your humble servant. Amen.

And with that family, I pray that you are blessed, that you see and embrace your blessings, and that you are a blessing to others.

Scripture

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

—2 Peter 1:2-4 NKJV

Reflection

Let us thank God before receiving our blessings. Tell Him how appreciative you are of the blessings you received and the ones that you have not yet received, having faith that He will keep His promises, and those blessings will arrive. Our grace and peace will be multiplied in our knowledge and expression of our Father and his Son, Jesus. When you’re going through hell on Earth, trying to jump over boulders and hurdles and trying to break down walls—say thank you to your Heavenly Father—and watch Him keep His promise that all will be well. Don’t ever forget that the reason you figured out how to jump over those boulders and hurdles and how to break down those walls is because He showed you how; He is the voice that you keep hearing, telling you to keep trying, keep going, keep climbing. No one is more faithful to you than God. Thank Him for the plan that you have yet to see manifest.

Prayer

Father, thank You for delivering me. Thank You for blessing me with knowledge and wisdom. Thank You for turning my head away from temptation and forgiving me those moments when I give in. I want to know You and Your Son more. I want Your grace to fill my life with both seen and unseen blessings so that I may be a blessing to others. When I question if what I’m doing to help Your children is actually making an impact—please comfort me with a gentle touch. Let it remind me that all is well. I thank You in advance. In Your Son, Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.

And with that family, I pray that you are blessed, that you see and embrace your blessings, and that you are a blessing to others.

Today’s message is an excerpt from Day 240 in my book, Seek Him, Volume 2: Going Beyond Your Spiritual Comfort Zone. The theme of the message is “Supplement Faith.” You can acquire this book, the companion workbook, and the other books that make up the Seek Him series by searching for their titles and my name online and at local retailers. You can also visit DOMELifePublishing.com.

Scripture

For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with goodness, goodness with knowledge, knowledge with self-control, self-control with endurance, endurance with godliness, godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being useless or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. The person who lacks these things is blind and shortsighted and has forgotten the cleansing from his past sins.

— 2 Peter 1:5-9 CSB

Reflection

Humble yourself. Never forget who you are and to Whom you belong. We’re to stand tall in Him. We’re also supposed to actively demonstrate our commitment to the relationship that we have with God and our duties to be performed in the world. We’re told to create inside of us a lasagna of sorts. The base layer is faith, and then we’re to layer in goodness, knowledge, self-control, endurance, godliness, brotherly affection, and top it all off with love. These are the fruits that we would possess and share. The fruits of God’s tree. Possessing these qualities puts us in perfect alignment with Him. I don’t know about you, but there’s no other place where I would rather be than nestled in close to God.

Prayer

Father, I pray for the balance needed to be loving and loved to forgive others and myself, and to have control over my emotions and actions. I pray for the endurance to see through this marathon of ups and downs, and the knowledge to discern the pattern of the enemy. I thank You now for these blessings. Amen.

And with that family, I pray that you are blessed, that you see and embrace your blessings, and that you are a blessing to others.

Scripture

“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”

Isaiah 1:18

Reflection

We may obsess over our sins and worry whether or not God has or will ever forgive us. God has always said that if we repent, ask for forgiveness, and not repeat the sin, then we are not only forgiven, but He moves on as though we never disappointed Him. There are things that we struggle to forgive ourselves for. Let go. God did. You keep holding on to something that has been reconciled by Him. Let go. If you still haven’t forgiven someone for hurting you, pray for the strength and courage to forgive, and then let it go so that your healing can begin. The peace that will ultimately enshroud you will be your reassurance that all is well. Let go!

Prayer

Father, heal me, protect me, and forgive me for my wrongdoings. Help me to let go, forgive, and accept forgiveness. In Jesus’ Name, I humbly pray. Amen.

And with that family, I pray that you are blessed, that you see and embrace your blessings, and that you are a blessing to others.

Scripture

Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

Daniel 2:20-22 KJV

Reflection

We have to be connected and present to notice that times and seasons are changing; we have to be willing to change and grow with them. We can’t be concerned with the how, when, what, or why —just let God do what He does. The only limits to what you can receive in life are the ones that you place upon yourself by thinking you can overrule or rush His will. When we walk courageously, fearlessly, respectfully, and selflessly with God — there are no limits — because He always provides the Gate.

Prayer

Father, today I open my heart and mind to receive all that You have for me. I will be present and willing to accept today’s lessons and blessings, not concerned about yesterday or tomorrow. I trust that You are with me directing my steps. Thank You for helping me grow in every area of my life. Amen.

And with that family, I pray that you are blessed, that you see and embrace your blessings, and that you are a blessing to others.

Note

Today’s message comes from Day 228 in my book, Seek Him, Volume 2: Going Beyond Your Spiritual Comfort Zone. The theme is “Without Hesitation.”

Scripture

There he found a man named Aeneas, who was paralyzed and had been bedridden for eight years. Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and make your bed,” and immediately he got up.

Acts 9:33-34 HCSB

With the same conviction that Peter commanded Aeneas to get up, without doubt, or hesitation, Aeneas stood up. Aeneas believed without question. He believed in God’s healing and in God’s servants’ ability to heal through His power. He believed in the name of Jesus (Yeshua). He could have said, “Man, are you crazy? I’m paralyzed, and I’ve been stuck in this bed for eight long miserable years; there’s no way that I can get up and make my bed; how could I possibly be healed just because you say I am?” But Aeneas didn’t say a word. He didn’t sit there pondering what Peter said for several hours or even several minutes. Nope, he immediately got up. How awesome would life be to have that level of belief? Think about it.

Prayer

Father, heal me of all inflictions, fears, doubts, and pain. I believe that there are no limits to You and Your healing power. I believe that You sent Your son to give us hope, to show us the way to You, and to show us how to live our lives and love others as You intend. You sent Jesus to show us who and what we are, and just as we are in You, You are in us. Your power and Light live within us. Father, I want to respond like Aeneas without hesitation. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.

And with that family, I pray that you are blessed, that you see and embrace your blessings, and that you are a blessing to others. Check out Day 228 in my book to complete the Speak Your Truth section that follows the prayer. And you can go deeper by completing the corresponding activity in the companion workbook, Seek Him Workbook 2. If you haven’t purchased either book, you can find them, and the other books that make up my Seek Him series, online and through many local retailers. I hope that they bless and enrich you!

Seek Him

Today’s message comes from Day 122 in my book, Seek Him, Volume 1: Testing Your Spiritual Comfort Zone. The theme is “We’re Never Sure How We’re Being Used.” It has been reformatted to align with this blog’s format.

Scripture

The Lord said, “Go over to Straight Street, to the house of Judas. When you get there, ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul. He is praying to me right now. I have shown him a vision of a man named Ananias coming in and laying hands on him so he can see again.”

“But Lord,” exclaimed Ananias, “I’ve heard many people talk about the terrible things this man has done to the believers in Jerusalem! And he is authorized by the leading priests to arrest everyone who calls upon your name.”

But the Lord said, “Go, for Saul is my chosen instrument to take my message to the Gentiles and to kings, as well as to the people of Israel. And I will show him how much he must suffer for my name’s sake.”

Acts 9:11-16 NLT

Reflection

We’re never sure whom God has called upon. We’re never sure how God is using us and others to help the least of His children and to spread His love and Word. Don’t question Him, just obey.

Prayer

Father use me, direct me, and open my eyes to see. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Seek Him

Today’s message comes from Day 202 in my book, Seek Him, Volume 2: Going Beyond Your Spiritual Comfort Zone. The theme is “Women Builders.”

Shallum son of Hallohesh, ruler of a half-district of Jerusalem, repaired the next section with the help of his daughters.

—Nehemiah 3:12 NIV

Reflection

The Bible shares numerous accounts of women in non-traditional roles, showing women as builders, soldiers, leaders, disciples, and defenders of households. These accounts help to reinforce the position of why we should not force women into stereotypical “boxes”, but rather encourage women to walk comfortably wherever God guides them. We need to encourage and support the girly girl and the tomboy, the domestic engineer and the mechanical engineer, the teacher, and the entrepreneur. Women can be leaders in the church, in government, in business, on the court, in the community, and in the military. If God places no limits, then neither should His children.

PRAYER

Father may Your children see the power, strength, gifts, and intelligence possessed by Your daughters. May Your daughters never take for granted the abilities You give them or feel entitled to boast or brag. May we all see the equality and equity that You created and planned in man and woman. I pray for our humility in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Seek Him

Today’s message comes from Day 193 of my book, Seek Him, Volume 2: Going Beyond Your Spiritual Comfort Zone. The theme is “Don’t Be Deceived.” The message has been reformatted to align with the format of this blog.

Scripture

Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to Him: We ask you, brothers, not to be easily upset in mind or troubled, either by a spirit or by a message or by a letter as if from us, alleging that the Day of the Lord has come. Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way. For that day will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction. He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he sits in God’s sanctuary, publicizing that he himself is God.

—2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 HCSB

Reflection

Don’t focus your attention on what people prophesy about Jesus’ coming. Throughout the Bible, it is made clear by Jesus and his disciples that we will never know the day in which he will return and the magnitude that it will have before or during his arrival. What we need to instead focus on is doing God’s work as His servants, and let tomorrow be dealt with by God. Trust and believe there’s not enough leeway to change your ways on the day of his arrival. If Jesus descended today as is described in the Bible, the majority of us wouldn’t be on the “good” list, or the “you get a pass list”.

This is why we should live each day with anticipation of his arrival, aligning ourselves to his ways and God’s will, not thinking that we will be given a reprieve on the day of Jesus’ return. Jesus said he was here to separate the wheat from the weeds, and when he returns he won’t be strolling through with the tender grace that people took for granted when he lived and breathed in his human body over 2,000 years ago. When he returns he’s coming to fight in the war for souls, to destroy Satan, and to bring judgment to those who walked faithfully in belief versus those who chose instead a life embraced in the flesh. Don’t be deceived into believing that Jesus already came, judged and that the war was already fought. Because if it was, look around you, at our world. This ain’t bliss folks. We’re still in chaos. Get right and get aligned.

Prayer

Father, please remove the fear and worry from me that paralyzes me from obeying You. Mold out of me the inclination to worry and contemplate the things that I cannot change, bring about, or create. Help me to see the deceiver’s tricks and lies. Help me to see these shackles of the flesh. Help me to see the true freedom in the spirit, in Your Spirit. Help me to tune in and hear Your voice above all others, even when Your words are a slight whisper. I want to be aligned with You, walking in full obedience, without doubt. I want a life serving and living with You, not enslaved to the enemy. I pray these things in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Seek Him

Today’s message comes from Day 168 in my book, Seek Him, Volume 2: Going Beyond Your Spiritual Comfort Zone. The theme is “No Limits.”

—Daniel 2:20-22 KJV

We have to be connected and present to notice that times and seasons are changing; we have to be willing to change and grow with them. We can’t be concerned with the how, when, what, where, or why—just let God do what He does. The only limits to what you can receive in life are the ones that you place upon yourself, by thinking you can overrule or rush His will. When we walk courageously, fearlessly, respectfully, and selflessly with God—there are no limits—for He always provides the Gate.

PRAYER

Father, today I open my heart and mind to receive all that You have for me. I will be present and willing to accept today’s lessons and blessings, not concerned about yesterday or tomorrow. I trust that You are with me directing my steps. Thank You for helping me grow in every area of my life. Amen.

Seek Him

Today’s message comes from Day 166 in my book, Seek Him, Volume 2: Going Beyond Your Spiritual Comfort Zone. The theme is “Fight the “Liar.” It has been reformatted to align with this blog.

Scripture

You are not the kind of God who is pleased with evil. Sinners can’t stay with you. No one who boasts can stand in your presence, Lord, and you hate evil people. You destroy every liar, and you despise violence and deceit. You do what is right, and I ask you to guide me. Make your teaching clear because of my enemies. Nothing they say is true! They just want to destroy. Their words are deceitful like a hidden pit, and their tongues are good only for telling lies.

—Psalm 5:4-6,8-9 CEV

This message is for those of you who are under attack by people who can’t make it through their day without trying to harm you and your relationship with God. This message is for those of us who are constantly under attack by the “liar”. The spiritual enemy, the father of lies, who tries to convince us that we are not worthy of God’s blessings. The lies that say that we can’t do the things we are attempting and desiring in our lives; that we can’t have the very things that we are working so hard to get. The “liar” will whisper words of fear, doubt, and hate into your ears. It will try to convince you to envy (or covet) others. It tries to convince you to doubt yourself. It wants you to be insecure with your appearance, mental ability, and spiritual connectedness to God. You must fight the “liar” and your human enemy the same way, each and every day—through and with God! We must pray to Him for guidance, clarity, strength, protection, discernment, and the voice to say to our enemies, “No. You are a liar. I will not listen to you or sink down to your level. God is my Light, Strength, Comforter, and Salvation, and I will leave this between you and Him!” Then we must step back and let God deal with the transgressions of our enemies.

We must never sink down to the level of our enemy, who is possibly at the lowest depths that one can live. As my mom always said to me when I was growing up, “Don’t fight in someone else’s yard. They always have the advantage“. Know who you are and what you are—God’s child—and walk upright in His glory and countless blessings. Walk in the knowledge that God’s arms encircle you. Your enemy can only harm you when you let them in, and stop relying on God to be your security gates!

PRAYER

I am thanking You now Father, for keeping my eyes on You; for guiding me to where I need to be—despite the attempts of the “liar” and those influenced by evil, to steer my mind and heart away from You. Thank You for helping me rise above pettiness, jealousy, envy, anger, fear, hatred, and a desire to retaliate against those who attack me. In and through You I know the Truth. No matter what anyone else says or does, I know that You will always prevail and reveal Your Truth to all. Thank You, Father, for Your constant love. Amen.

Seek Him

Today’s message comes from Day 130, my book Seek Him, Volume 2: Going Beyond Your Spiritual Comfort Zone.

Scripture

Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem?

—Isaiah 2:22 NIV

Reflection

Our relationship with God is our very own. We do not need man to bring us closer, to analyze the depth and longevity of our relationship with Him. We do not need man to speak to God on our behalf— we can speak to God anytime we choose. We just need to make the time to talk and connect. He’s always waiting, watching, and listening. He is our provider. When our bills need to be paid, it is God that provides. When we are sick, it is God that heals us. When we are lonely, God is our comforter. When the enemy attacks, God is our shield. Turn to Him and learn to rely on Him as your Source for all. Just as Noah, Abraham, Jesus, and others did. Look at how they proved their commitment to their relationship with God. They honored the covenant they had with God. Are you half-committed in your relationship with Him? Are you partially in this? Or are you 100 percent invested in it?

PRAYER

Father, I put my trust in You. I trust You to provide me with my needs, to see me through circumstances, and to show me the answers to my problems. Even if the answers don’t arrive when I want them, I trust You. I will stop relying solely on man. I realize that although You may send a human messenger, servant, guide, or companion—they are not my source for life, truth, love, peace, joy, and healing. Only through You are these things made possible. Thank You for being my spiritual Father and Mother, my all in all. Thank You for loving me. Amen.

Seek Him

Today’s message is from Day 135 of my book Seek Him, Volume 2: Going Beyond Your Spiritual Comfort Zone . The theme is “How Are You Investing Your Time?”

Scripture

Why am I so depressed? Why this turmoil within me?

Put your hope in God, for I will still praise Him, my Savior and my God.

—Psalm 42:11 HCSB

Reflection

We are all tested. Scenarios will always be presented where our judgment will come to question, and our character is defined. Are we spiritually mature and tough enough? Sometimes we will be tested through our loved ones. Friends and, yes, family. For many of us, this test comes mostly from family. How do we respond? Do we release it all to God, or do we struggle to try and fix things on our own and then wonder why matters only get worse?

If things are not right in your life, pray to God to reveal all. Then look in the mirror and look within yourself. You will see the culprit and the answer to why things aren’t going the way they should. You can blame others, but you choose when and how to engage with them.

God doesn’t do chaos and disorder, only order, structure, and peace. We must fall in line to receive the life we’re supposed to have. We must do it with hope, humility, passion, and appreciation. When we continue to follow Jesus and serve God, there is constant peace— even in turmoil, because we know from Whom we belong. Pray for the way and the right turns, each step on your path. Pray that God touches those around you so that they lean on Him and not on you.

PRAYER

Father, give me the strength to endure and persevere in the worst of times. Give me the patience to wait, listen, and gain the guidance I need from You and Jesus. Fill me with the grace to handle all situations with Your Light. May I joyfully reflect Your love in my fullness. Equip me with the tools to work through any circumstance. Turn me from all negativity. Help me to stop being a leaning post for others. Instead, let me serve as an ambassador that guides them to You through Jesus. Help me, Father. Touch me to my core so that my foundation is unshakeable. Thanking You now, Father. Amen.

Seek Him

Today’s message comes from Day 136 my book Seek Him, Volume 2: Going Beyond Your Spiritual Comfort Zone. Yes, yesterday our lesson was from Volume 1, so today we’re hopping over to Volume 2.

Scripture

The Lord is your guardian….

—Psalm 121:5 ISV

Reflection

Oxford Dictionary defines a guardian as “a defender, protector, or keeper”. Is that not God? He defends, protects, and keeps us. There is no place where God is not. There is no problem He can’t or hasn’t solved. There is no power or presence greater than He. Remember that and be free in this knowledge.

Prayer

Father, there is no doubt in my mind that You are my defender, protector, healer, deliverer, Father, and Mother. I know that wherever I am You are. Thank You for watching over me. Thank You for always revealing the truth to me. Thank You for protecting me from the enemy and those who the enemy uses– known and unknown, seen and unseen. I praise You. Amen.

Another Announcement or Two 📣

I’m excited to share this news with you. Check it out!

Hi Breaking Bread family!

So, I was so caught up in the excitement last week that I forgot to follow up with my second announcement. The first, if you missed it, you can read here and it wasn’t an April Fool’s joke either.

Today’s announcement is a much-awaited one, an update on the third and final set of my Seek Him book series. If you’re new to my blog then you may not know about my books. If you have been reading my posts for awhile then you should already know, and hopefully you have already purchased and began reading the books.

Our first set tested your spiritual comfort zone. The second set encouraged you to go beyond your spiritual comfort zone. The third set lovingly says “don’t turn back” to that comfort zone; don’t turn back to your past and dwell on what once was.

The third set will be released this Spring 2022!

Let me say now, you will want to ensure that you have the entire set. The lead book and workbook.

I also encourage you to purchase the first two sets, for yourself and for loved ones. Right now, Amazon is running a sale, so jump on them while you can. They’re also available through Bookshop.org, BN.com (Barnes & Noble), Walmart, and other major retailers.

I really like Bookshop.org because they support local bookstores; you know, the ones that may or may not still be located in your neighborhood? Yeah, those. In our want-it-next-day culture, let’s not forget to appreciate our local bookstores. If you don’t know of any, no worries, you can search on Bookshop or just opt to allow proceeds of your purchase to be distributed amongst the thousands of bookstores that Bookshop supports.

If you happen to be a member of Goodreads, please follow me there. I’m still navigating that space and looking forward to connecting with other book worms.

Once my third volume set has been signed off and a print date and presale date is confirmed, I will make that announcement. When I’ve been given the green light to share some sneak peeks of it, I will rush this way and do just that! I look forward to sharing this labor of love with all of you. It has blessed me and I know it will continue to bless me. I hope it blesses you too!

Love,

Natasha

Have You Added the Seek Him Book Series to Your Toolbox?

In October 2020, I rolled out Seek Him, Volume 1: Testing Your Spiritual Comfort Zone. Its companion workbook is Seek Him: Workbook 1. They cover months one to four on a journey to testing your spiritual comfort zone, seeing where you are versus where you want to be—and so much more.

June 2021 led to the release of Seek Him, Volume 2: Going Beyond Your Spiritual Comfort Zone. The companion workbook is Seek Him: Workbook 2. This set picks up where the first set left off. It covers months five through eight. By this stage you should know the boundary lines of your comfort zone. You should know what comes easy and what you resist most. Now it’s time to go beyond that zone. It’s time to lovingly push yourself past what you deem acceptable, and take yourself to the next level in your relationship with God and self.

What have you been called to do? Can you do it if you keep binding yourself to the past, to your limitations and fears, to what you think you can’t do? Can you do it if you aren’t obedient to God? You should consider pulling back those layers and getting deep within to see in what ways you’re holding yourself back. You should consider adding the Seek Him book series to your toolbox.

Volume 3 is coming this Fall, unfolding the remaining four months of a year filled with learning, expressing, and living your truth. I hope you will join me on this Seek Him journey—whether your first step begins this month or later this year, having your tools nearby and ready means you are prepared to do the work. Let’s do this!

Love,

Natasha
